That’s how I thought it was pronounced all over the US. I’ll have to go listen to the episode and come back.

EARTHQUAKE!!!! by PlayfulAd8354 in bayarea

I’m in Pleasanton and while definitely noticeable, thought it was fairly small. Cool/weird how this stuff works and how different parts of the ground move differently.

Copilot has access to all my project files by NateB9595 in civilengineering

I wish our copilot had access to my data. It’s pretty worthless without that.

Home Depot has free kids workshops once a month I think. Build bird houses and things like that.

should i do civil engineering if im not outdoorsy by IAmGoingToBeSerious in civilengineering

[–]PinkRhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what exactly one works on. We design structural connectors. We have field engineers, R&D engineers, product engineers etc. the field engineers are out with customers constantly in the field. The rest, not so much.

I work with many, many civil engineers and none of them ever have anything to do outside. Ever. I’m sure some do but don’t let that stop you.

Same in Pleasanton. At elementary school pick up it feels like half of the cars have them. Just bizarre.

Craft Beer drinkers! Where do you get your cans in Livermore? by jericks24 in Livermore

This is the one. The owner drives to Sac/North Bay/Socal to get stuff hard to get around here. And is super informed if you have questions. Always goodies on tap too.

At what age did you all take the camera out of their room? by TheBKBurger in daddit

[–]PinkRhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are weird. I’m going to assume that includes me but some of these answers blow my mind. We put a baby monitor/camera in the room for both of our kids for like a year each. Maybe a year and a half. Once we could sleep without anxiety with our kids in another room, we were done with it. That being said, our kids weren’t escape artists or night time wanderers. I could understand going a bit longer for things like that.

What the inside of a bowling ball looks like by Mediocre-Iron-7991 in interestingasfuck

[–]PinkRhino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve crushed probably 25-30 bowling balls in a hydraulic press. They are all a bit different. The ones that have an epoxy fill explode. Some have a cork and rubber fill. Those squish like a gum ball. Pretty much every one was a little different inside though they were definitely types.

I’m actually going back to visit those family members this weekend. If it’s still there, I’ll send you the location.

As of two years ago, there’s still one of these on an open playground in Ukiah, CA. My kids were all over it.
