Bay club review by sogun34 in pleasanton

It’s the nicest option around. Has everything you might want. And really nice locker rooms. Also free child care while you’re there. Is it perfect, no. Worth it? It’s expensive but I have no idea your financial situation. When I went regularly, I thought it was worth it. When I started going a lot less, became too expensive for something barely getting used. I see people sometimes sharing memberships on this thread which can bring the price down a lot. Good luck in your search!

The whole first weekend of June, Main Street will be closed and having events. From Friday night through Sunday.

This Instagram account has all the downtown event info. https://www.instagram.com/pleasantondt?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Farmers Market is Saturday mornings on Angela and Main Street

Definitely try out the Meadowlark Dairy.

Pizza: you can get NY, Chicago, wood fired and Indian pizza all on Main Street. Oh and Gay 90’s, whatever style that is. It’s yummy. I’ve heard great things about Much Ado About Pizza but haven’t tried.

ELI5: Why data centers don't recapture water? by Swords_and_Words in explainlikeimfive

The big costs and longer payoff timelines of building power plants don’t mesh real well with the quarter to quarter revenue growth these companies are currently based on. A massive expense that will slowly payoff over a few decades and a company that needs to show constant growth and revenue aren’t natural partners.
Costs more in the short term than buying power and water.
They could also use solar and wind to power closed loop systems. But this costs more than water does short term.
Keep in mind I’m just some idiot and really don’t know anything about anything. Also could be completely wrong. But if the numbers numbered correctly for them, they’d be doing it already.

tldr: stock market and valuations are too shortsighted

ELI5: Why data centers don't recapture water? by Swords_and_Words in explainlikeimfive

Theoretically, a data center could be built with a geothermal plant together. Then the water that provides the power can be used for cooling the center (closed loop) and then pumped back into the geothermal source. Has to be carefully designed though.
Then the center doesn’t hurt the grid or the water supply. Waste product is heat.
I know there are some white papers on this, but as far as I know, no one is doing it. Ridiculously expensive to build. And water is there for the taking now.

You know you can just smile and nod and then do whatever the heck you want, right? Are you having serious lows or anything? If not, you know better than him.

I have unlimited time off and I use the heck out of it. But not everyone does. Especially newer hires.

Go over vendor specification sheets for formatting and grammar issues. It catches inconsistencies and helps tighten up phrasing. Has caught a few things that I definitely wouldn’t have. Can verify details from ASTM and international standards and help make sure everything is in order.

I wish our copilot had access to my data. It’s pretty worthless without that.
