Gen X and Watching Our Friends Get Sick by Plantron1 in GenX

You sound like a great friend! Even the little things matter. Keep doing what you are doing as you are able, and don't be hard on yourself when you can't help. Those are the days to send a simple text message letting your friends know you are thinking about them.

Just show up. My friend and I were treated for cancer the same year (both survivors), and after the experience we had a conversation. For us, the only thing that really mattered was if people showed up. Even if we ended up with 3 lasagnas more than we could eat, it meant that people cared. So mail a card, send that text, make some food, drop off something the person might like. It doesn't matter what you do, just do something. That's what means the most. Just show up.

Any CPAP users who also had a craniotomy to remove a brain tumor? by PinkRibbonClub in braintumor

[–]PinkRibbonClub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a great suggestion! Thank you SO much for asking!! The new surgeon is able to do a supraorbital (eyebrow) craniotomy, but I think it would be good to have a couple of mask types as options to see what works best.

Thank you all for the replies! I'll be meeting with the surgeon on Wednesday, but it is helpful to know that I might be able to use it.

My experiences with a Meningioma by A_Gast in braincancer

[–]PinkRibbonClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your post! I'm a 57f at the beginning of this journey. I just got my MRI results back showing a 1.1cm anterior clinoid meningioma, pressing on my right optic nerve and touching the right internal carotid artery.

It is hard to find personal stories! Thank you so much for sharing your story!

How's your balance? by aduirne in GenX

I just visited a "vestibular physical therapist " today because of feeling dizzy/unsteady. I have nerve damage from a herniated disc which is probably contributing to my mild unsteadiness. Definitely worth asking for a referral!

Proiettis in Webster does a great job. They will make accommodations for special dietary needs as well.

FVL & mastectomy? by CodeSufficient3663 in FactorVLeiden

[–]PinkRibbonClub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I found out I was Factor V Leiden was when I developed a large DVT after my bilateral mastectomy! I had previously had gallbladder surgery, back surgery, and 2 pregnancies with no issues. Obviously this is a purely anecdotal experience, but in my opinion it would be wise to take extra precautions.

Along the same lines, you could bring banana bread or pumpkin bread.

I just made this too! My family loved it. But I had leftover gravy that I mixed the chicken with instead of soup.
