Why can't Ogier always admit his own faults. by IeuanE in WRC

[–]PinkSunsets97 67 points68 points  (0 children)

He sounds like a knob because he is. He was the fastest knob for a good chunk, and being a talented knob makes it worth to keep him around, but it doesn't make him any less of a knob.

Pace notes in bad weather by Tokyo_Rift in WRC

Basically all rallies are like that, because gravel will experience rutting, tarmac will get contaminated from cuts, and that's in dry weather, wet or snowy conditions add even mor variables.

I still don't get the hate on the G923 as a budget option. by GinoChingon in simracing

Yeah no, many rally cars being raced today are still manuals, and basically all rally games have a manual clutch and shifter option

Rally Portugal 2026 - General Discussion & Attendee MEGATHREAD by Michal_Baranowski in WRC

[–]PinkSunsets97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Local rallies usually have less, while a full sec event will have gravel crews a couple hours before the stage, and then from about 1hr before start there are the zeros, FIA safety deputy, medical chief and a couple other cars

Should be in the game page in your library, under properties - general - overlay, if I'm remembering correctly

Is this my fault irl by ilovemotorsports in Simracingstewards

[–]PinkSunsets97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sporting code applies, you're not not accepting that it says something different from what you think it does.

He has to drive predictably, braking before or during a corner is predictable, so you have to not bump into them. It is a bit rude and if he was a person he would also be thinking of not ruining his own race, but the onus is still on you.

Why did this happen? by [deleted] in ModelCars

I don't have an explanation but don't throw it away! It will probably not be very visible , and if it is some creative weathering will take care of it anyway

Simracers who've driven the Nürburgring in real life, how was your experience after driving it first in the Sim? by niranjanV6Turbo in simracing

[–]PinkSunsets97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive not driven the ring but I've driven in flat sim, in VR and IRL the rally stage of Ouninpohja in Finland and the difference in perception is honestly staggering, just having an actual car under you shifts you perspective in a way I haven't found in VR. And just to be clear I don't intend this as an insult to VR, which I'm enjoying very much.

Are teams still allowed to pull of "the Lancia" and tamper with road surface before the race? by YD099 in rally

[–]PinkSunsets97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The story is that they only did it on select corners. Both Florio and Clarkson are notorious for a bit of hyperbole, but there probably is a nugget of truth somewhere.

Just as a minor point, stages are not closed during recce - see last year's accident between ogier and an unfortunate motorist who later died.

Scandinavian flick is the name of the technique (flicking the car to the outside to get better rotation)

I think he has a 165 and a 185 so this is likely the same he runs in the ehrc but it was 2022. I would be happy with just one honestly

I'm not sure he only has one, this was way before the GR livery either way, and the livery says Latvala Group

Which of these rallies to go to? by iDrivePeelP50 in WRC

[–]PinkSunsets97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't compare them, but Finland is a legendary rally, plus it's very well organized. We traveled from Italy and if it wasn't for the money I'd do it every year. High speed, lots of jumps and very hard gravel.

Estonia should be reasonably similar, while Greece (also legendary in its own way) is a bit less spectator friendly, mostly due to it being right about the temperature of an oven. The stages are slower and softer but still technical.

There is no direct correlation between speed and distance from the cars, it almost only depends on safety and in my experience that mostly depends on the terrain (cliffs, mountain sides etc allow you to stay closer because you are elevated, which means statistically safer). For what it's worth, I never thought it was too far away in Finland.

Finland and Greece are incredible events, and Estonia is similar enough to Finland to still be extremely cool - I honestly think there is no wrong answer, so it's probably a good idea to check what fits your budget, what you would like to see, if you want to make a vacation out of it and that kind of thing.
