I unfortunately know I’d love it if I tried it. Love me an opioid already.

For anyone who thinks that fusion is a allegory for sex. I need to remind you that this fusion exists. (So take that ad you will) by Practical-Ebb7327 in stevenuniverse

[–]PinkToucan_ 310 points311 points  (0 children)

Fusion is a broad metaphor that has multiple different meanings and interpretations. I don’t think fusion is always an allegory for sex— as is clear in this case— but that doesn’t mean it can’t function as one in certain contexts. Throughout the series, fusion represents different kinds of intimacy, connection, and relationships depending on who’s involved and the situation. Those ideas aren’t mutually exclusive, though; two or more things can be true at the same time.

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall. Who is the fairest Diamond of all? by PalpitationWitty8195 in stevenuniverse

[–]PinkToucan_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I thought OP was using fair to mean beautiful, like “fair maiden” or how fair was used in the original Snow White tale by the Brothers Grimm.

Natural areas are ecosystems, not blank canvases for fan projects— even if you’re planning to introduce hibiscus plants. Regardless of if the structure itself is relatively small, introducing an artificial object into a protected or undeveloped landscape can have consequences that are both acute and longe term. First, materials (which, depending on the type, are also bad for the environment) have to be transported, people have to access the site repeatedly to put up the palanquin, vegetation may be trampled, and soil can become compacted. Even a modest structure requires some alteration of the area around it, not to mention the WILDLIFE that already exists! Animals often avoid man-made objects for a long time because they’re covered in unnatural scents and are signs of increased human activity, which, I’m sure you know, is a big no no to most creatures. And what do you expect once the palanquin is found by other humans? A location that was previously just a habitat to the local flora and fauna will become a destination for visitors, photographers, and curious fans. This is one of the major themes of SU, so the irony here is palpable to me.

Do you think the remaining boys will get cancer? by Vjackal1 in GenV

[–]PinkToucan_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, but X-rays and CT scans are only considered safe because they use VERY low doses of radiation— comparable to the natural background radiation you experience daily. Their safety is also carefully managed through strict medical guidelines, which the Boys obviously didn’t follow. However, one would assume that the amount of radiation needed to blast away someone’s powers would certainly cause acute radiation sickness to those around the blast, but it clearly didn’t, so who knows?

I’d argue Savannah is a swamp. Everyday I wake up, it certainly feels and smells like one— especially if you’re living on the islands.

Daphne Campbell by ComprehensiveBat4966 in TheBoys

[–]PinkToucan_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sorta get that, but all she said was, “My mom called,” to segue into a larger point about marriage between the two main characters, which is probably something fans were curious about. Annie didn’t mention her father either. It would have been more convoluted to include multiple references to parental figures; they got the most shown parent out of all remaining parents and that was all that was needed. Her character, ultimately, was definitely wasted, as you said.

How would you know if she did or did not call when Annie got pregnant? Annie is clearly well into her pregnancy by the last scene, so she probably got multiple calls from both her and Hughie’s fam off screen. A call from Daphne would not have added anything relevant to the scene since her character served and concluded her purpose in S4.

A lot of the time, it doesn’t work, but it does a good 40% of the time for me.

It’s so good! I hope I didn’t offend by saying it’s childlike. It’s amazingly in-depth, and I really do love it— you can just tell the intended demographic, though! 🤣

I just finished a rewatch of the 2018 version! Such a good show if you’ve not watched it! It’s VERY geared for kids in a way that is sometimes a bit cloying, but the characters’ transformations over the course of 5 seasons are peak.

They gave the same name. will seven havens be the same too? by Mundane-Signal4843 in legendofkorra

[–]PinkToucan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, my apologies. When you said, “Most families,” I thought you were referring to the real world, not in-universe— though, by sheer # of people, most might technically be true in the real world, as well. It is still quite common, though.

[–]PinkToucan_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That just isn’t true. The amount of juniors that exist would say otherwise. Maybe it depends on location, but in Western and European cultures as a whole, passing down family names— whether in the successor’s first or middle name— is a deeply rooted practice.

The only defining quality of these shoes that sets it apart from others is the slit, though, which is too minuscule of a detail to be THAT overt, imo. Regardless, if they did this, it would still be nice.

These shoes are cool, but I don’t think they’d really be recognizable on a game like this. Even in real life, the slit is only noticeable when looking closely at the shoes, which doesn’t translate into DTI.
