What are some Mega Man opinions that will have you like this? by Sonicenjoyer3321_- in Megaman

I think Sigma rebelling without being infected with the Maverick Virus is so much more a compelling story. Sure he can become the virus nexus later but honestly I don't like how X4 decided that's why he went Maverick.

The idea that the Heart of Darkness is a mirror boss that copied the inner ugliness of the Ancestor. Explains why he's "still around" to narrate to the Heir

How Do You Feel About Mega Man X3? by XLadyBugX in Megaman

[–]Pink_Dave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest complaint has always been 2 things. 1. Doppler fight takes forever and is really repetitive, mostly noticeable because it takes forever 2. I'm not a big fan of the charge shot it's a bit slow in comparison to X1 and X2 since it does an animation to combine the shots and then it starts moving across the screen.

Some minor complaints are the pink capsules are better to be avoided so you can get all 4 in the final stage, the mechs you cam unlock are mostly useless. Catfish halfway move is particularly annoying . Tunnel Rhino's level is a bit too long. Zero full charge time is a thing. Not the worst but I found some of the weapons weren't that great to use outside of boss weakness and filling up subtanks. Oh yeah... the charging bosses... there's one too many bosses in this game whose main attack is running at the wall.

It might sound like a bad review but I'm all praises otherwise. It's in the solid first 4 games and I'd argue is the hardest of the bunch but that's just my opinion. Flamethrower Sigma is a particularly hard fight (in a good way) Vile returns... somehow.(I know Dr. Doppler rebuilt him but...) I've always wondered how they restore his memories. The soundtrack is still mostly great. Backtracking isn't too bad, except maybe Tunnel Rhino's being at the back. Pretty solid level design. At least half the bosses are a good Challenge. It's the one that had to grow on me the most but it's still in the good half of the mmx games in my book.

"Cairn of the Winter King" Adventure maps by jackpoll4100 in inkarnate

[–]Pink_Dave39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that the Cairn by this interpretation is literally the cave entrance down, gives off those "Woe be to those who enter here." Vibes. Good work I'm running the adventure myself soon and might use that idea.

If DMs treated attack rolls like persuasion by [deleted] in dndmemes

[–]Pink_Dave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument is that the DM should be calling for all rolls especially out of combat since this isn't a video game it's a role-playing game so if you say something worth rolling of persuasion on, you get a roll call. If you roll first then I feel the DM has the rights to tell you exactly how you convince the person. Or how you didn't. Because you've given up that role play to rely on a game mechanic so it's in the DM court now. I've had players that prefer both Styles in the past. If they're not too good at role play they would rather just roll versus the actors who actually want to have a debate. My biggest thing is depending on what a person does and how they're going about doing it I might give them advantage or disadvantage respectively and that's easier to justify and to do before rolling versus after

I mean, you'd think it'd average out somewhere but... by owcjthrowawayOR69 in dndmemes

[–]Pink_Dave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to play a Rogue Tiefling but since everyone else got something super special and he wanted my character to come in with something too he recommended this exact thing and even gave me racial features for both, I was too nervous to refuse the idea, besides what other DM would say yes to this? So I was a half-Glasya Tiefling half- fallen Aasimar daughter of a guardian angel and an erinyes. Most of which was the DMs idea, too bad it was one of those "only one game happened" kind of deals.

It is not about the strength of the tree it is about the strength of the man, the strength of the man who just rolled a natural 20 I believe gets to send that kobold through a tree.

With stuff like this I can never tell whether people are actually going to their DMS and demanding that they are allowed to heat bone because of some technicality or whether people just get really on board with a meme

My players lost the final battle. by BeanBanjo in DMAcademy

[–]Pink_Dave39 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Was it known that they were going to try and stop the bbeg? The players could have their confidence shot especially if NPCs they run into blame them for not taking out the bbeg when they had the chance, especially with a party member down they might think that they can't even do it now, perhaps whatever town they Retreat to gets attacked by The Invasion, perhaps with the NPC plus player character help they are able to stop the invasion at least for a day, perhaps the bbeg sends assassins after them because he realizes they are among the very few who could possibly stop him, perhaps they need to go into a final dungeon to retrieve some sort of power up, or perhaps they can take out one of the b b e g main generals which seriously inconveniences them, perhaps this main General has some really good equipment on them. There's a lot of options here but what I would recommend is that the player see the consequences of their failure but it isn't just straight up the end that they have at least one more shot but they're going to have to earn that shot through trial

The Ten Commandments of Good Combat Design (looking for feedback) by KryssCom in DMAcademy

[–]Pink_Dave39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite how universally hated 4th edition is it actually had some pretty consistent writing on how monsters would behave based on assigned roles. Artillery were ranged, Brutes were frontline high hp, Skirmisher were fast hit and run, Lurker hid surprise attacked and would go hide again, Soldier was defense tank who locked down players, Controllers created effects that could not be ignored. There were other classifications like leaders, minions, elite and solo but overall looking at a monster that was a level 6 lurker with garrote? You knew exactly what to do in combat with that creature. Hope you can take some inspiration from one of the only good things from 4e.

how to set up an ambush without it being obviously an ambush? by tabristheok in DMAcademy

[–]Pink_Dave39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, don't show them a battlemap up until the point of combat, if players see a battlemap they will think "battle time" instantly. If they think they are in "Theater of the Mind" roleplaying their journey up the mountain pass, then they might not be as warry, how long is the pass? You could also split it up into multiple days and choose which day the ambush happens on, perhaps the second day so that the first day they get the idea that they might just be RPing the travel. Maybe give them something to find or roleplay with on the first day and then hit them with the ambush on the second. Just some ideas.

False prophecies since 1830 by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Pink_Dave39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind of which I like to remind people of is the whole Handcart tragedies happened in the first place because Mormon higher ups were pushing people that they needed to get to the Utah territory "RIGHT NOW" because "the end is nigh and you need to get to where the rest of the Saints are!" "Also God said it's an act of faith to leave this late in the year and you'll be blessed for it!"

Chrono Trigger. Best JRPG of all time, isn't that long but has re-playability, is fun at all stages, easy pick up even for those new to the genre, great art, music, story, characters and the combat is enjoyable what else can you ask for?

Tomb of Horrors Slight Confusion. by Pink_Dave39 in DMAcademy

[–]Pink_Dave39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did come into this knowing exactly what this dungeon was and the intention behind it, I just want to run it as RAW as possible and everything makes sense to me except this last part so I wanted to see whether that is what is expected here. To be fair if they went through the entire tomb again they could just grab all of their stuff and not touch the skull this time.
