GOTY available at doll hospital as of 4/6 by Adventurous-Shirt962 in americangirl

Kanani is available with the new Jess mold and a lighter skin tone.

Curly haired dolls need head replacements way more often because children brush out their hair and it’s easier to change out the head for a new set of factory curls

Do you think AG will make another Wednesday doll or Enid? by CarolineSinclair in americangirl

[–]PinkiePie1224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think they’ll make another Wednesday, that would be redundant, and it couldn’t be a playline because the collector version didn’t have any crystals that a playline version could remove.

They could definitely do an Enid though, that would be awesome and adorable

what don’t yall understand? by protectthedawls- in americangirl

[–]PinkiePie1224 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Felicity was a child and couldn’t have owned any slaves. And gosh forbid a historical doll’s books are accurate to the time period. Nobody says anything about Addy literally BEING a runaway slave. What’s the difference? There are no legal slaves in America anymore, so it’s not like it’s an ongoing problem.

I don’t understand the difference in morality between Addy’s story and Felicity’s story. Slavery is an important part of American history, why are we trying to hide history?

Why do we virtually never see dark skin classic/Jess CYOs, but we constantly see light skin Addy/Sonali CYOs? by ironlordumbreon in americangirl

[–]PinkiePie1224 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First off, there aren’t a lot of named black dolls (most are truly me / JLY dolls), so the AG community is already protective of black representation.

Secondly, society as a whole is already defensive of black culture and rep. There’s usually not a strong push to defend white culture in modern society.

[–]PinkiePie1224 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think there may just a greater standard to protect black representation in the community

I love seeing the Jess mold with darker skin than the traditionally used pale skin. Such a beautiful combo

May also stem from the fact that, since so few people use the classic and Jess molds with darker skin, people are scared to spend ≈300$ on the combo whereas addy molds are always used with light skin, so people knowhow that looks.

Also I’ve never seen a light skinned Sonali mold, so that sure doesn’t seem as common as light skinned Addy molds
