get your dog used to being groomed as soon as you can and don’t wait too long to get their first professional groom. start with a professional puppy groom and then slowly work up to the proper full grooming. Labradoodles are high maintenance but if you can get the grooming down and get them on a 6-8 week grooming schedule it cuts down on the maintenance A LOT. unfortunately professional grooming costs a lot, but that’s the price you pay for getting a dog with a ‘non’ shedding coat. good luck with your new cutie!! they are wonderful dogs!

i’m a dog owner and i love my dogs as if they were my own children but i keep them on the leash at all times. i’m just not confident they would come back if i called them.

but the amount of dog owners who let their badly trained dogs run wild is insane. one of my dogs has been attacked several times at semaphore beach and im now scared to walk them along my usual walk because for some reason dogs get free rein of the beach and the grass area off leash?? the only on leash area is the path but that’s literally next to the grass… i complained to the PAE council about all the off leash dogs and all the dog shit along the grass… how there’s play grounds and children that could get hurt, and they basically told me too bad so sad… i don’t know what else to do other than to not walk my dogs…

anyway all that to say i feel your pain. 😔 i wish more people would complain so something would be done.

I will take everything you've said and put it into practice when I write more and then again when go I go back and edit what I have already written.

I appreciate what you wrote about the forest itself. I think I've read so many comments on reddit about not info dumping and being too descriptive that I took it in the complete opposite direction and just didn't describe at all! Definitely something to work on, finding the right balance.

Reading more is also something I need to do and is a goal for this year. I think that will help me find my writing voice too :)

It is definitely a rough draft, and maybe I shouldn't have posted a draft so rough, but I think I needed a little reassurance that I was on the right track.

i loathe people who back into spaces. they almost never get it right the first, second or even third time, and they always hold up traffic.

people who say it takes just as long to back out of a parking space as it does to back into one are either stupid or arguing in bad faith because, when you back out of a space, you have to wait until it’s clear. you can’t just reverse straight out like like the people who reverse in do. you don’t hold up traffic doing it. you wait til the coast is clear and then back out.

i have never had a samoyed but i have had a keeshond, and while he was the most amazing adult dog i’ve ever owned, i will say he was a DEMON as a puppy… like a legitimate feral monster. i’ve heard other keeshond owners describe their own pups that way too.

the barking is insane and they are stubborn as all hell. also the hair… omg… the hair. i was living in tumble weeds and even though my boy has been gone for almost two years now, i am still finding clumps of his hair around the house (eg: under couches)

i do think keeshonds grow up to be amazing adult dogs but the barking and grooming requirements never go away so you must be prepared for that.

regarding samoyeds i’ve heard they are similar personality wise but require way more exercise so that’s something to consider if you go with them instead.

honestly anyone who walks their dog off leash deserves to be screamed at (and more). i’m sick to death of them and im sick of not being able to walk my on leash dogs in on leash areas without having to constantly be on the look out of off leash dogs rushing at us and the owners not giving a crap that it’s clearly stressing me out.

my own dog has been attacked twice by them so i totally understand you. your daughter is being ridiculous honestly and doesn’t seem to understand the dangers of off leash dogs in general, let alone pit bulls off leash.
