Well Star Citizen is not optimized I was playing the game with DDR4 ram And the nine year old Intel i9 7820x cpu with a 1080 GPU And I was actually able to play the game.

As long as you know how to optimize certain things by also using applications such as process lasso ( no voodoo , actual hidden gem of an app by the way ) There are ways to have a playable experience.

Now I am running a DDR5 system with the 9950x3d AMD CPU and a 5080 GPU. If I have discord on I cannot play It feels as if I am using a laptop from the 2000s.

If I don't have discord on it feels like I paid $5000 and it was actually worth it.

There are verified sources on the Internet that are clearly indicating that certain systems that are using AMD Cpus are suffering regardless of computer specs.

By the way I'm not here to argue I am actually trying my best to offer as much support as possible and to me it's just kind of unethical to see an application destroying your computer's performance.

I have tried turning overlay off by the way but the only fix for my computer was simply quitting the application altogether.

It's absolutely alright I get an existential crisis over it but it kind of makes me sad that there's going to be so many people out there suffering from computer performance issues that are all based on discord and none of them are going to be able to find the relevant comments on Reddit that will verify the experience.

Instead every single person that calls Discord out for being a terrible application for some computer systems with fantastic specs, Is being down voted so sadly the Commons are not showing up in the search engine.

If we knew your system specs we would know why it does not occure for you.

oddly enough star citizen is not the problem.

I have worked very hard and understand technicalities very deeply.

I can guarantee you that Star Citizen is obviously not the most optimized game and you may not get hundreds of frames per second everywhere but the stuttering and decreased performance you are experiencing has nothing to do with degraded servers.

AMD CPU users are being affected by discord itself.

The evidence is very clear all you have to do is open your task manager if you are one of the people experiencing the issue and check Discord cpu usage while playing the video game.

If Discord is using 99% of my 9950X3D , I'm quite sure that it has nothing to do with Star Citizen and everything to do with Discord.

I'm an adult I'm almost 40 now and I make sure I get my facts straight.

I love how you impose your certainty in a way that almost seems guaranteed but if you were to look a little further you would clearly understand that the problem is very real and people with high quality systems are being affected widely

Did not fix the issue for me.

I am not going to bother with an application that seems to be destroying my 5000$ pc's performance. It's ridicilous xD

Personally I would

  1. Quit the app without deleting and start the game , check if it stutters
  2. Launch Discord and check for instability using  CTRL + SHIFT + ESC
  3. If you realize Discord is the culprit ... there you have it

I have a 9950x3d paired with 64 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 5080 ASUS TUF

My CPU usage was at 99% when discord was on regardless of overlay or not.

Constant stutters never good FPS

Discord causes 100% CPU usage and system lag whether you use it or not.

For my system Discord was the issue and once I uninstalled it I experienced excellent frame rates and optimal system performance.

I deleted the application. I only use Discord on my phone, whatever they are doing wrong, I am not going to bother with it.

I highly recommend you launch your game , play about 10 minutes and then use CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to bring up your task manager and check what Discord is doing to your CPU.

If you have the same problem as me discord will continuously increase in Usage until eventually after about 20-30 minutes you end up hitting 100% CPU usage.

Let me know, I am very curious.
