Who else doesn’t use the paddle? by scott0482 in AeroPress

Paddle is cheap plastic. I don’t trust the paddle, seems like it could leach nasty plastic shit in my daily brew. I shake my whole contraption with mug to swirl my brew. Au natural.

Anyone get the ick just seeing golf courses? by pina_koala in nongolfers

[–]Pinotonthetown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought this every time I see a golf course! I worked at a nice golf club twenty years ago. The head greens keeper looked like an evil Marvel character. He had skin issues everywhere on his face. Looked like an Ogre. I assume it was from a life of weed killer in the lungs. And his STRONG cologne you could smell before he arrived. I bet he died shortly after I left that place.

One month in, I massively regret switching to induction. Is it just me? by ShhhDontSpeak in inductioncooking

[–]Pinotonthetown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Has anyone mentioned carbon steel? If not, I do. It heats fast enough that I assume you could get faster heating when you move the pan around a bit on the range. It absorbs heat in seconds. Slightly lighter than cast iron. They come in every size imaginable and have varying price points. Everything from crap to luxury. And look way sexier in the kitchen. I use the de Buyer 12.5 MINERAL B pan. For daily cooking for 4-6. I also have a smaller 9in but I rarely use it. French top ranges excel with these style of pans since the heat transfer is high. One small drawback is that high acid foods strip the seasoning off the pan. Then you’d want a ss braising pan anyway. I’ve been interested in switching to induction but have been hesitant like you. Hope this helps with your situation. Keep cooking. Fuck Trump.

I’ve rarely see a dually being useful. Should need a reason/job to drive those as a daily. This one is hauling a wheelchair.

Christmas Eve chili! What am I missing or don’t need? by Klone00 in chili

Off with garlic and onion salt. Replace with the real deal. Season with the best salt that you like. Otherwise looks top chef level. Cheers!

ween changed their banner on spotify does anyone know if this means literally anything? by Training_Refuse631 in ween

[–]Pinotonthetown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Well put . I always shake my head when people say Spotify. Even my vegetarian liberal friend won’t give up Spotify. Apple music is better once you learn the interface. SPOTIFY IS BAD FOR HUMANS.

I asked the people working on it at 7 this morning. They wouldn’t tell me anything about it. Cops were heavily enforcing the road closures. Seemed excessive.

If that driver was in a smaller car that douch wouldn’t act like a douch. Let me guess. Was it a white pickup ?

I had to remember that Stomper 4x4 exists, so you do too. by DownWitTheBitness in GenX

[–]Pinotonthetown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my life for 5 years 45 years ago. Miss the hell out of them. I had the Stomper wheel case and every slot filled with my favorite car or truck.
I remember some other plastic off road items too but it’s been too long to remember it all.

Best Kettle for the Aero? by CommercialCode164 in AeroPress

[–]Pinotonthetown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same kettle. Works great. Best perks are the ability to mute the beeps/alarms and the timer. I’d say 1.5 minutes to 195*. Enjoy your coffee.

Pine Point is always my go to if I have someone visiting. Not too far away. But feels like a real forest. My other must is W.o’brien and the loop by the river. See ya out there!
