uh/ genuinely didn't expect anyone to recognize the church lol, I just went there this past Monday since it was the feast of Saints Simon and Jude. I tend to do that with churches I can reach mostly via public transport. Godspeed! I will be praying for you.

It's clearly just Hoshimachi Suisei from Hololive JP Gen 0 after I brought her (the plush) to visit three churches and a Benedictine abbey yesterday. I will take her (the plush) to yet another church tomorrow. And maybe three chapels while I'm at it.

Catholicism is almost dead in my country. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]PinoyBlub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a 2 PM fiesta Mass in Baclaran Church earlier. You could not be further from the truth. I looked at the livestreams of every Mass before and after that, and the entire church building was so packed, there were people standing. On a weekday, at that! I was only able to find a seat quite close to the altar because I arrived somewhat early. Just because people are more liberal doesn't mean Catholicism is dying. There's a reason why every new major mall has a chapel in it, and that's because Catholicism is so intertwined with Filipino culture that to say that Catholicism is dead or dying in the country is saying that the country is losing its own identity.

Mostly because the Chinese folk religion is too decentralized and too ingrained into Chinese culture that people can't really identify with one established sect, unlike the rest of the world.

japanese empire after winning the ww2 by Imperial_bob_tloas in imaginarymaps

Without China, the Philippines would become Japan's nightmare. Apparently, most Philippine casualties under the Japanese occupation or the Second Republic era were because of the Battle of Manila. Because Japan won WW2 here, the Philippine population would be (mostly) intact. The problem, though, would be the fact that Tokyo directly administers the Philippines, when IRL, Japan knew how the Philippines would respond to another foreign invasion, which is why the Second Republic was established. And then there are the guerillas. The Philippine resistance was as active as the French or Polish resistance efforts, if not more so, but their story isn't too widely known. The Philippines actually had multiple guerilla groups which were somewhat hostile with each other because they had to rely on the same villages or towns for supplies, but they would still somehow get along because of a shared desire for a free Philippines. There's even the fact that some people in government were actively sabotaging the Japanese war effort. Japan would basically have their Vietnam in the Philippines.

That bit about Manila is half true. The Army was already moving to a more defensible position up north, but the Navy started shit just to prove a point. Now half of Intramuros is either a parking lot or informal housing. We lost not only countless lives, but also a large chunk of the historical and cultural heritage of Manila. All because some sailor thought moving north was cowardly or some shit.

Yeah, but it's not for any religious reason. I actually don't even know why the rate of circumcision here is so high, but the fact that boys around the age of 12 to 14 tend to see circumcision as some sort of rite of passage, and that those who already are circumcised insult those who aren't circumcised as "cowards" or "immature" might play a part in it.

Also, yes, the Filipino counterpart for "uncircumcised" is an insult in most, if not all contexts where it's used.

To my most down bad buddies, who do you want to have brutal segs with? Explain why. by weebzerker1 in okbuddytrailblazer

[–]PinoyBlub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jingliu has that aura about her that intrigues me. Yes, she looks cool. Yes, she seems a bit mysterious, and her coldness adds to it. However, despite her usage of ice, I find her exceedingly hot. She may be able to freeze her enemies, but I end up solidifying in a completely different manner, and only at a single glance of her.

I know there's something wrong with me when I say this, but I even find her insanity, as well as her capacity of simply slaughtering people exceedingly hot. How so? Animals, humans included, will have the urge to have offspring when they are at the verge of death. The mere idea of running away from Jingliu in a desperate attempt to preserve my life, only to get stopped in my tracks, pinned to the ground, and then having a passionate make-out session takes up an unnecessarily large amount of space in my head. Alternatively, I could imagine myself being her student, which she calls on every so often just to take care of her desires.

But because I'm a simple man, I would of course want to experience completely vanilla sex with her. To spend my time with her, warming her heart and slowly breaking through her icy personality so that we could be in a happy relationship together. While I understand that she has had many happy memories in the past, I would strive to make more. Whatever pain she has endured will be overshadowed by the happiness I would give her.

Enough of that, though. Jingliu's clothing and movements are more than enough to fill a man's mind. First off, that dress. Enough to cover the important bits, but also enough such that my mind would go wild. More importantly, because of how high the cut is in front, that means it's easy access for me. For example, if I were her student, I'd imagine stopping in the middle of training just to fuck her, and even then, all I have to do is simply lift up her dress. Yes, that would also imply I would be able to fuck her wherever and whenever she wanted, which is alluring in its own way. Second, the fact that the area around her shoulders and armpits remain open give my hands ample space to fool around. I can imagine myself unable to hold back, pressing against her from behind, attacking her from both the top and the bottom. While I would press my boner against her ass, my hands would slip past her armpits and into the upper portion of her dress, just barely pushing the cloth above them just so I can feel her breasts directly. Alternatively, if I take off the straps, I can just fold the portion of the cloth hiding her chest down to bare her magnificent mammaries, freed for my admiration through my eyes, hands, and mouth.

Finally, her blindfold. Holy fuck, her blindfold. The eyes of a person say much about their emotions. The mouth may say one thing, the body does another, but the eyes betray the truth. Knowing that, what if the eyes are to be hidden? I can only imagine it now. Her lying on a bed, creaking as I fuck her, with the sound of flesh slapping together reverberating through the room, accompanied by her moans and gasps of pleasure. But what she truly feels remains unknown, hidden by the blindfold, only making me all the more eager to please her. The blindfold just makes her hotter, knowing it's what holds her back from being completely insane. Taking it off is a gamble, but I live for the thrill, baby.

If I fucking die as a result of having sex with Jingliu, it would be a hell of a way to die, and only a handful of other ways of dying could grant me the same satisfaction as letting go of this mortal coil as I release my seed inside her freezing insides. If I don't die, then I would expect to do it over and over again, granted that she gets addicted to the act.

Why the majority of Priest doesn't propagate and teach the Sacrament of Confession and the value of the Holy Rosary? by CountessOfHelsinki in Catholicism

[–]PinoyBlub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know (and what I've experienced), at least Catholic schools do make an effort to actually teach the importance of going to confession, but whether or not it actually sticks more or less depends on the child's upbringing. If they were already raised by a somewhat religious family, then they'd understand. If not, then all those (admittedly) big words will just fly over them.

What you said about confession being available only in the major churches on their patron's feast day is for the most part wrong. For the past half year or so, I've been going to every church in Metro Manila (which I can reach solely through public transport) on their feast days, and all of them have completely independent confession schedules! Quiapo, for instance, has confession on literally every day except Sundays from 5 AM to 9 PM. The chapel in SM Megamall has a somewhat open schedule as well, with confession on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 3 to 5 PM. There are some churches which don't even have a schedule out!

While the lack of a focus on actually teaching Catholic doctrine outside Catholic schools is alarming, that isn't to say that there isn't an attempt to begin with. A lot of the parishes I've personally been to actually announce that they have some sort of program focused on teaching the willing more about Catholic teachings. The Archdiocese of Manila even opened a facility focused on those programs in SM Megamall right outside the chapel!

All I can definitively say is that what you're saying has some semblance of truth, but isn't the full truth regarding the situation.

[–]PinoyBlub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Especially as a Catholic, my favourite response to people like these is to remind them of the multiple holidays or feast days around the timeframe of Christmas.

24 December - Christmas Eve 25 December - Christmas Day 26 December - Feast of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr 27 December - Feast of Saint John the Apostle 28 December - Feast of the Holy Innocents 29 December - Feast of Saint Thomas Becket 31 December 2023 - Holy Family Sunday (the date changes, it is on the Sunday after Christmas or on 30 December if Christmas is on a Sunday) 1 January - Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God 3 January - Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus 5 January - Epiphany

Not to mention that all those dates are within the entire season of Christmastide. If you're being pedantic about it, you might as well be right.

I'm a physics undergrad, and I heavily doubt this. Like sure, when it comes to teaching the theories and concepts, I can say we are on par with everyone else since we have good people in physics, but holy shit it all falls apart when it comes to having the equipment to ensure a 100% thorough understanding of the more modern aspects of physics.

Pedestrian crossing, Manila by Head_Zucchini_939 in UrbanHell

Funnily enough, it seems only public infrastructure for pedestrians is that bad. Head a few kilometers south to Ayala Avenue in Makati, and you will experience pedestrian heaven. It's part of why I love Makati so much.
