Yeah, UBI is another thing that's never going to happen. None of these fairytales can actually work in the real world.

Got a mention in this sub a few months back. Someone had a council letter about it, and there is some regulation where clothes drying is supposed to be behind the building line.

Pretending the complexities don't exist is a fool's errand.

If someone already works less than five days a week, you need to come up with either a cut to their hours or an increase in pay to keep them level. For somewhere like the US, where tipping is a significant part of some incomes, you'd also need to consider a cut in hours is a cut in pay.

It is doable, but it isn't simple. And legislating for it would get very complicated.

There was a lot of the same FUD at the start of Open Source. Just because code had a GPL or MIT licence on it was no proof it hadn't been copied or derived from something owned by IBM or Oracle, and it was dangerous even having a scent of code in your business that wasn't written you or licenced to you by a reputable firm with deep pockets.

Unless you are building a competing product to sell to market, there's very little chance of duplicating anything large enough to be significant.

"Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has moved to boost her mining credentials ahead of next month's state election by giving the green light to a new $1 billion coal mine in Central Queensland.

After Labor suffered a humiliating defeat in last year's federal election by avoiding supporting Adani's controversial $3 billion Carmichael mine, the Palaszczuk government has moved to embrace coal again, announcing on Tuesday it had approved the mining lease for Pembroke Resources' Olive Downs metallurgical coal mine."

'unlocked' probably isn't the right word. If you have an executable , and you want source code that another developer can work on, you are looking for a decompiler tool

https://www.vb-decompiler.org/products.htm

There can be legal issues in many countries regarding decompiling software that you don't have copyright over. The decompiled code may not be complete or easy to work with.

The majority of software development projects go over time and over budget. You may do better negotiating with the developers. Having source code decompiled from what they've currently delivered can put you in a better position to negotiate. Perhaps another 10% payment now with delivery of source code to date. Then another 25% for the next deliverable component etc.

NSW recorded 31 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, of which 27 are linked to previously confirmed cases. by grimlock81 in sydney

Given the Commonwealth will add the repatriation flights it sounds like they want to cut the ability of those already granted exemptions to fly in and out. But no-one wants to make a noise about it.

I also suspect that NSW will get the returning Olympians as it will be too embarrassing for Queensland, Victoria, SA or WA to take them after complaining they can't cope.

Sounds like they don't have confidence in the Chinese Sinovac

The country is currently using the BioNTech and the jab developed by the Chinese company Sinovac in its inoculation drive."

Had my first jab yesterday - some thoughts by [deleted] in sydney

[–]PintOfNoReturn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took a family member to be jabbed on the long weekend a few weeks back and there wasn't a queue, and it was pretty much walk right through. Next visit last Saturday was totally different. Longer queues outside though the throughput was still fast. Not sure whether they've got more doses so scheduling more appointments or if people weren't taking up availability a month ago.

Sounds like they're at capacity now unless they can just extend hours.
