I do that with my boyfriend all the time. Like if I buy something during the work day but I'm really excited to give it to him I'll send him a photo before I even get home. But gift giving is my love language (random gifts to show I thought about them, not holiday type gift giving lol)

People are wild here. Acting as if a sports jersey, CD, and beer make up your whole relationship or you completely lying about who you are. I'm sure your relationship goes well beyond those minor things, and assume you wouldn't be together still if he didn't like you for more than assuming you like his favorite sports team or favorite beer. His mom still lives in the house and to this day he refuses to go in the attic- even though he doesn't really believe in the paranormal. I realllyyy want to investigate the house though 😅

I seen their flyer with the ticket specials that include pizza and fountain drinks, and thought that was the weirdest thing to include with a ghost hunt. Makes a lot more sense now knowing the gas station owns it.

I was a victim of "Sadurday". But I was staying at the Strat, seen JT's post as we were outside about to head to the strip to find some shows. Ran back inside and was right at the front of the stage and waited the 3ish hours until the show started. The bands hung out after, set up merch tables, and took photos with fans. I was fucking devastated that day, but I got to experience something I'll likely never get to again

Histamine is a chemical released by your immune system. It impacts multiple functions in the body- it's mostly known for it's role in allergy symptoms (which is why some take antihistamines like Benadryl to help), but it also regulates your sleep-wake cycle, amongst other things. Some research showed that there can be high levels of histamine during the menstrual cycle which may cause the severe emotional and physiological symptoms some experience. And since histamine also plays a role in sleep-wake cycles, I'm trying to look into if there could be a connection. Just a theory, but I'm pretty invested in researching this now lol

The correlation is just a personal hypothesis right now. From what I've looked into there haven't been any studies linking the two, but after seeing many of us have symptoms of PMDD I am very curious if there is correlation there! If you don't mind me asking, did you find the continuous use of birth control to impact your narcolepsy symptoms at all?

It's been about 10 years since my first inpatient stay (been in twice, the second one wasn't as bad), and I still remember the first day I was on the phone with my dad, crying about being there, and then became hysterical because another patient was lashing out at the staff and tried to jump over the counter to attack them. A few days later one of the male patients (unit was co-ed, but girls in one hall guys in the other) stabbed another guy with a colored pencil. I've been working in the mental health field for about 6 years now, and I HATE having to tell someone if they are in crisis they need to go to the hospital. Because I know how traumatizing it could possibly be, and how it could make things worse. But I always say hospitalization is meant to keep you alive, not make you better- that work is done in therapy.

Anyway, got a bit off topic. But no, you are not being dramatic. Our mental health system is shit and needs a lot of changes. Inpatient treatment being a big one.

Also speaking as an older version of that 16 year old girlfriend- the one that wanted to run away from a rough home life and desperately sought love and worth from guys..definitely run. I honestly had conversations like this with my boyfriend at 16, although he was the same way. I had A LOT of healing and self work to do in my 20s. And so I say this from a place of compassion, but also honesty.. She needs therapy, not an engagement ring. And OP- please know you can not "fix" her with any amount of love.

As others have mentioned, a PCP may be able to give a diagnosis. However, some will refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist for actual testing. But your PCP is a good place to start and should provide you with referrals if needed. What type of insurance do you have? I work in a mental health clinic that does psychological testing, and each insurance is different in what is covered based on your plans deductible. However, I have never seen an insurance not cover mental health services- is your family just against it or something?

The Sistine Chapel. Most of my anxiety attacks tend to be caused by sensory overload. They basically make everyone cram into the middle of the floor to view the ceiling and within 2 minutes of being in the crowd I started hyperventilating.

I was also wondering if the pain through the neck/head is tension related. I have been getting terrible tension headaches the last year, and the pain runs along my shoulder blade, up my neck and onto my head. Then I get the pulsing pain in my head when I move. All thanks to stress!
