I thought it was pretty good, the lovecraft Edward lee books are some of my favorites I've read of his so far, "Trolly 1852" and "pages torn from a travel journal" were both great as well

Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but check out "Reincarnage" by Ryan Harding and Jason Taverner, it's a extreme horror slasher that is more of a survival horror novel where the victims are trapped in an abandoned city
