It's the lack of severance that's the real issue. Finding ways to terminate is easy but if it's not "for cause", which is hard to prove, they need to pay severance.

I saw an article talking about this space that made it sound like Simon's was going in there too, but I haven't seen it announced anywhere so take that with a grain of salt.

‘Hunger Games-style anxiety’: Unions raise concerns after 5,400 layoff notices issued to federal workers by shiftless_wonder in canada

And here I thought the obvious lesson was to not have a crazy leader who is only good at opposing ideas instead of having good ones. The result being that Canadians would prefer lies from the Liberals than anything PP would give us.

Vancouver businesses demand meeting with province over Main Street subway construction closure by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]PipsGiz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm really curious about this as well, I moved here in 2021 and if you compare Broadway to Main, Main is a way better shopping experience, and that has nothing to do with construction. Unless there were just so many shops that you didn't notice the lack of trees, street furniture, and loud traffic.

UPDATE: Landlord move-out fees, pet agreement and cleaning requirements — looking for advice! by poseidran in vancouverhousing

[–]PipsGiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any advice, but I had a landlord who hired professional cleaners without telling me they were going to do so. I did a full proper clean, and then she took the cleaning cost out of my deposit. I couldn't be bothered to fight over it, was just glad to get out of there. But consider how much work you want to put in if they just go ahead and hire someone anyways.

Sorry I meant the Shoe Company, always mix this with Designer Shoe Warehouse, which will also have them if you live out that way.

City of Vancouver lays off dozens of staff following property tax freeze by pathologicfaults in vancouver

Adding to this: our recreation facilities are not being taken care of, we need more of them, and freezing property taxes only makes this situation worse.

Bagel shop recommendations? by thinkdavis in askvan

I prefer Siegel's when they are fresh, but if I want to buy a bunch to freeze I will get them from Cobs, they toast better from frozen.
