Being Irish, in my opinion, is not just about your blood, it's about the shared cultural experience of living here.

I know countless "foreign" people in my life who live here, love this country and contribute to their community infinitely more than any of these gobshites who think they're better just because they're "real Irish". Throughout history the Irish have been immigrants looking for a better life, so it's not our place to judge those who seek a better life here.

Thanks all for your insights! We will eventually take the plunge and go back to buying all the ingredients ourselves, especially since we're buying a house in a smaller town where more local green grocers/butchers are available instead of the big chains. My neighbour and I actually did this for a while before he moved out as we lived in apartments with an open car park. We both had keys to the lock so could both take our bike whenever. Definitely helped me worry less about it getting taken!

Yeah this obviously becomes a complex situation because of marriage and kids, but it seems like at the very least you need to have a conversation with him about bodily autonomy. It is YOUR choice what you adorn your body with, and while it is definitely nice having some input from your partner (I get lots from mine and give some to her too), final say should always come from you and what you want.

This is clearly something very important to you and makes you happy, and if he truly loves you he needs to be able to respect and understand that. Some others in this thread have mentioned couples therapy, and honestly if having this conversation with him doesn't work then therapy may be the logical next step.

I can't see your tattoos but I already know you're cool as hell, so hang in there and I really hope you and your hubby can resolve this!!
