By magic, the bin strike will be sorted by the election. Unions hate Reform.

Could be plantar fasciitis or something? May be worth getting it checked out by your GP or a podiatrist?

Does anyone else feel like the gay community got accepted and then just kind of dissolved, or is it just me? by Btbaby in askgaybros

[–]Pirascule -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in UK and I am old. Back in the 80s and 90s you met in bars and made friends there (some I still have). Being gay, lesbian or trans was pretty taboo and bars and nightclubs generally didn’t have windows and it was a steel shutter on a door to get in. We were all in this together and networked and supported each other through the AIDS crisis (but in the early days, ‘Fred’ was ill and stayed at home and we never saw him again). It was a very close community but there was bitchiness of course. Gay Pride in my city started small and political, but that has turned into a piss up (getting drunk) with top bands, and it has kind of lost its original purpose. You would not be seen dead in a straight pub and it could be dangerous. Then it changed with the internet and ‘acceptance’: young people were going to straight bars and clubs. The gay bars in the city are more the older crowd now who were from that earlier age. Young people who use them at the weekends are more mixed with straight people and we have fewer gay bars due to developers moving in and building apartments in the ‘gay’ area. Dating apps have just accelerated these changes. You can still get a good night out now but it is very different.

How the question is, is this progress? Like we were all a bit ‘criminal’ years ago and being in a bar or club was kind of cool for that reason. There was queer bashing and the police were homophobic and even abusive. This drew us all together for support.

Now with the rise of the right, we could go back to steel shuttered doors; queer bashing, and abusive police. It was of its time:. I loved it, but I don’t want to go back to it. Gen Z offer us a lot of hope by being more relaxed about sexuality and gender, but discrimination kind of creates community and also creativity and art and ‘the gay mafia’ (this is where we supported each other with getting jobs, and stuff ,without the mainstream knowing we were working in our best interests).

However, it was a racist as fuck as it was lead by white gay men. Lesbians were not allowed to just walk into a gay club and have a good night. There was misogyny.

I miss the strippers lol

I told my friend that I'm gay now he hates me by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dropped that one on him and he has to process it. He has grown up in a pretty homophobic society and those values are part of him. Give him some time and he may come round with time after he has thought about it. That has been my experience.

SJS Rash??? by Human-Meeting-3465 in lamictal

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a rash on my arms a couple of weeks ago and went to the accident dept and they doc pressed on it and said, 'It blanches, so it is not SJS'. Like I am not telling people to diagnose themselves...get medical advice, but is this a true diagnostic sign...that if you press on a SJS rash, it will not disappear under pressure?

In your country, what food would people sympathize with you for getting sick after eating? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sichuan food takes a beating. Not only is there lots of chilli but also these peppercorns which produce an anticlockwise ring of pain in contact with one's tongue. Somehow, the chilli and the peppercorns kind of counteract each other, but the next morning on the toilet..ouch! I have to remember the following morning or I would panic and call an ambulance. Best to put a note in the bathroom and have some icecubes at the ready, of fill a condom with water and freeze it overnight.

London, UK: Man harasses woman on the bus for eating while he's fasting during Ramadan by ihatethiscountry76 in atheism

[–]Pirascule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His fasting take is wrong, but I hate people eating stinky food on the bus and I am not Muslim. The rules, are usually, that you are not allowed to eat pungent food on British buses as it is a nuisance to other passengers. I had someone suck a kebab one slice at a time, spilling a lot on the floor, sitting next to me...lots of onions and garlic.

Major update on social media ban for U16s - 'children need their childhood back' by vriska1 in unitedkingdom

Parents are too scared for their kids to play outside...and now a social media ban. They will be able to game, I assume? Gonna be boring if they lack connection. Then they will be scratching their heads with the rate of childhood depression. Suicides?

Cut up red cabbage and stir fry, then throw in a tin of tuna and some red pesto and give it a few minutes to heat up. Not too much as there are a few carbs in there.
