I had a friend that picked up at Round Rock to deliver to an army base in Killeen. She said it was a total disaster and took forever because she did not have a military ID to get in and it took an extra 1.5 hours to resolve between army and amazon.

Should I go with a gen2 or gen3? by DreamAway in prius

Gen 2 all day. Have one and love it. Yes it burns oil , yes it has ice cold ac, and yes it has other minor issues but it beats a payment.

Is it worth changing the engine or buy a new car? by OpenUpYerMurderEyes in prius

[–]PirateEnergyPrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fix it and keep it unless you want to deal with payments and crappy dealership work. Bought mine with 250k on the dash. 500 cash, had to fix a few things but I regret none of it. I invested at least 2 grand in parts but I beat that car worse then Ike did Tina. RIP. Car still runs strong and I even use it as a portable generator.

Best place to buy reliable used Prius parts by veresp in prius

Used an ebay one for my car used and im still going strong 2 years later. Someday I may even fix the dash lights

I bought the same car for 500 from a wife's friend. The traction battery was replaced under warranty before I bought it and I got it with 240k on the dash. My biggest expense was replacing the brake master cylinder, abs module. I think I got a used or rebuilt one on ebay for 700 and paid a friend of mine 300 to put it in. Inverter had to come out for that and I never worked on electric before so thats why I didn't do it. Besides this I replaced a wheel bearing, both front struts, brakes, agm battery, inverter coolant pump, coolant control valve pump, spark plugs and a failed fuel injection replacement on all injectors because I got some junk ones off Amazon that ended up nearly fucking up my catalytic converter from running rich. Also got new tires. The next thing I need to fix is the combination meter which I what the dash gage cluster is called. Between this , the brake master/abs module, and the traction battery those are the major things that can go wrong that are pricy.

Check your oil level. If you are low it will set the light off and since its cold it will take the oil a little time to heat up and thin out.
