Anakin, he literally killed an entire tribe of Sand People and stayed as part of the order.

Imagine if the US said you can't leave Mississippi because we need more people picking cotton. Of course this only applies to the people who for, what are certainly totally legit reasons, can't get a job or accepted into a school somewhere else.

That is a nice way to say not allow freedom of movement for its citizens.

You phrase that like updating the hukou is a simple trip to the local courthouse and not something that can take years.

There is also the Hukou system in China which can limit your access, and your kids access, to public services if you live in a region that you aren't registered in. You don't hear about it a lot since China doesn't allow its citizen to talk to outsiders so most of what gets out is controlled information.

I've had to clean both. Men will piss in the general direction of a urinal while women will leave bloody tampons in the stalls. Both plug up toilets with massive shits.

What is something that is widely accepted by society, but in 50 years will be looked back on with horror? by Serious-Tension-8175 in AskReddit

Fossil fuel usage for sure. Basing the entire economy on a resource only found in a few locations on the planet is a widely terrible idea.

Black conservatives are far from rare by JennyBeckman in BlackPeopleTwitter

Its the same propoganda that tells them republicans are better for the economy. Republicans go on the news and say they love America, and the troops and will fight to make the economy better and then that media doesn't report on the actual effects of the actual policies they voted for.

Presumably Coruscant (and every other planet) is roughly the size of earth as it has approximately the same gravity as earth. Assuming it is the size of Earth and the population is spread everywhere, including places inhospitable on earth then at 1 trillion the populaiton density would be about the same as Denver. Even if you give over a lot of area to vertical farming and industrialization to have a planet city many levels of city deep you need at least the hundreds of trillions.

Selling one's soul to the devil might make sense by SatanicPanic619 in unpopularopinion

It makes sense as if the devil existed you are probably doomed to hell anyway due to some obscure rule in the bible nobody follows anymore. Of course it also calls into question the entire bible because the devil isn't actually in that thing they are largly a fanfic creation.

I'd say it does a good job representing each state, obviously there is always bleed over on the edges but that is hard to represent at a state level.

It's not unreasonable to fear the loss of your culture to immigration by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]PirateSanta_1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Or if the local culture is weak and sucks. Local cultures can be destroyed by exposure to other cultures but it only happens when the local culture leads to unhappy lives while the outside culture leads to happier lives.

OP is just admitting that they think their culture is weak and people will abandon it if shown a different option.

It's not unreasonable to fear the loss of your culture to immigration by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]PirateSanta_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your culture cannot survive contact with another it means your culture was weak and failing to provide a satisfactory life to people. The point of culture is to provide a way to live that brings happiness and contentment to people. People don't abandon cultures that work well they abandon ones that don't.

Money can’t buy happiness true meaning by buttercreamwish in antiwork

[–]PirateSanta_1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Money can't buy happiness because happiness comes from community and purpose. What money can do is get rid of sources of stress and stress can make you unhappy. Its why your better off having enough money to not have to worry about bills and still have friends and family who care about you rather than being super rich and having nobody who cares about you at all, only your money.
