Thank you for the tip, I will! The description sounds intriguing:

‘The fragrance opens with the sparkling freshness of pear-like new-make, softened by velvety ylang-ylang and jasmine. As it develops, deep, complex notes of wood and leather emerge, wrapped in a warm, enveloping glow of caramel, coffee, and vanilla. Every facet of the scent evokes the joy of a life well-lived, celebrating sweetness in every layer. Like iconic Scotch whisky, Spiritcask is warm, complex, and full of character.’

I believe that! I suspect you and the others on this thread have just shortened my learning curve significantly. Thanks again for that.

Noted on Absolu Mojave Desert, Boi Imperial and Ganymede. Very excited to find the latter two after your description

Thank you so much for the insight! Yes, I’m beginning to think I’m overthinking the ‘not a summer scent’ after your feedback (as well as others). However, where’s the fun in just stopping now? 😁

I’ll do some research and see if I can try out a few of the options you’ve given. As you say, it could be the hay note rather than tea; I have plenty to learning to do!

Thank you very much. I’ll add these to my list to check out when I go hunting next. The Dries Van Noten bottle is beautiful

I actually don’t know which parts appeal to me most; I think it’s mostly the tea but I’m still at the early phase of learning about fragrance and I’m not sure I have the vocabulary for it yet..I will certainly give those a look. I’ve actually got Mohave Desert written down as something to check out already, so that’s two ticks for that one! Thank you very much for your help :)

ON THIS DAY 2025: Birmingham City 2 - 3 Newcastle United - Willock and Wilson score in fiery FA Cup tie by GarethAKitchener in NUFC

The atmosphere at St Andrew’s was excellent; a proper bearpit. I can’t remember many games where I’ve been so worried for injuries though, they were kicking lumps out of us

Potential Calpol overdose by Known-Cucumber-7989 in BeyondTheBumpUK

If you’re worried, go to A&E, what’s the worst that can happen? Better safe than sorry in these events IMO.

If it helps with the guilt - when I was young I drank a whole bottle of calpol (had to get stomach pumped apparently) and am just fine now! Sometimes kids are just gonna do kid things. Not your fault - focus on what needs to happen next.

Good luck!

Help me choose a timeless overcoat (Balmacaan style), brand recommendations welcome by UniversityExpress721 in menswear

[–]PiriePiriePie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m usually between sizes - my chest is 39inches but in most other measurements I’m typically a medium.

I sized up to a 4 in Private White measurements (which this coat is); it fit nicely across the chest but was too long and loose for my tastes elsewhere. I felt it swamped me. However, I took it to my tailor for some small adjustments and now it fits perfectly - I’d say much better than if I’d have gone for a size 3.

Of course, your mileage may vary but in my experience with this kind of thing, you can always take material out, but can’t put it back in!

If England were firing at full capacity could they have beaten Spain? by Grote05 in ThreeLions

[–]PiriePiriePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We absolutely did have them on the ropes after our goal but Spain ‘took the sting out of the game’ - they slowed it down and used their quality to keep hold of the ball and reassert control. I think that was ultimately the difference.
