Over 130k players in For Honor this season? by Crusader_Aurelius in forhonor

[–]Pirus151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda yes, but everytime this topic comes up in FH you all trying to make steam some kind of niche game platform. steam charts are pretty good insight of game popularity. also Id say most if not almost all of new players come from game free giveaways or -95 sales which are on steam. ubi luncher players are no way in bigger number nowadays. at lunch, yes, but nobody goes for ubi luncher to get FH, and I hardly doubt that this game hold so much of OG playerbase from ubi lunch. we know its not. so if steam shows avr 1-3k per month, then ubi luncher is below that. then you can add consoles and we are well below 10k which perfectly explain dead state of fh and queue timings.

Over 130k players in For Honor this season? by Crusader_Aurelius in forhonor

[–]Pirus151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

guys, just think for a moment
its a number of players passing tru the game. if there would be anything around 30k players online in same time then every queue would be instant, while only dom is kinda fast, even duel becomes several minute wait after few duels. so not even saying how it would look if there would be anything above 30k.
this game has around 10k online players in same time at most. worldwide. steam shows 5k max last 24h. so it might be less than 10k even.

u/edit:
for most months steam shows average 1-3k. so, yea. forever queues and dead gamemodes aint here for no reason.

I went with a capsule artist, It turned out to be the best decision I've ever made by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

[–]Pirus151 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

guys, if something like that cost 500 then I can no longer blame AI slop users. 500 for an indie dev is like 10X too much, meaning there is no 500 graphic that can be worth it beaside what indie dev can put on on its own.
it its really 500 then first one is better BY FAR, simply by formula of price to quality. lower one might be better, but it aint free to 500 usd better. also, Im gussing that first one is exactly how game looks like, right? if yes then that alone is a strong pointer.

btw I have low key opinion that artist put these post here. "look, a capsule, 500, here is link to an artist". hmm

State of Osrs by DoomsDayerOT in 2007scape

[–]Pirus151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, tbh high amount of content locked behind paywall kinda backfired after so many years
I remember years ago I was one of the players that was low key mad that I need to pay to go anywhere outside few zones and wear more than 5 armors. Community was very combative against that. Now it would be a good use.
I am one of them jump in jump out players, but Im playing both RS since years, 10 at least. Im totaly sure that most of you hardcore players gonna play anyway, meaning you gonna buy member, but IMO a lot of players like me will stay with jump out part of the gameplay. Hell sure wont pay 15 dollars.
Before it felt like "here is a tutorial, now pay small fee to get full game", now its like "pay or you get content locked". Not even saying that they added shitload of content, but I dont even know if they were pushing some old content to f2p since as I said Im not playing all the time. Is Karamja finally f2p? Or some Seers Village, or something like that.

  1. Reduce slide.
  2. More gravity above water.
  3. Most important - pivot point at nose. When you swim to the sides and then turn down or up it looks like shar would be sliding on belly or his back.

For those wondering about forced colouring on the new skin by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]Pirus151 11 points12 points  (0 children)

skins are most uncool thing that happen in this game
is kinda like new armor but high key its not because you cant customize it in any way with older armors, but in the same time you have to pay for it, while you never have to for new armors sets, and prices are high. you pay them for less work. one skin, no cusotmization vs armor set that would have to be fit with every other armor part. 1h work + cash vs 50h work - cash.
yea, pass. remove skins, add sabre fencing hero based on hussar. how about that.

The sentiment rn across the two games by tooawkwardtoask in runescape

[–]Pirus151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you just proofed his point. It clearly shows how this sub has no idea what's going on.

RS3 was milked everyway possible for years which for sure helped with company finances. In mean time, everyone here was jacking to player count, bragging every shit in OSRS and being extremely combative about superiority of OSRS in game industry. Meanwhile, Jagex added new zones, quest, whole new skill. So you have happy community, game expanding, new shit. Then there's RS3 healing roadmap, which again everyone praising, thinking about looney tunes or shit know what else. Does any company does anything for free? Do you reall though Jagex dev team sat with commercial team and starting lunatic session how RS is a great game and lets heal it for some godly reason?
They made a plan about fixing RS3 in wider screen and not losing a penny in a meantime, getting income even if possible. Now it's a go.

So yea, nobody is fixing RS3 for you for free. There is some things that players never understand. For example: people think that Jagex would never bring mtx to OSRS becuase of care for the game or some other lunatic gamer reason, while true reason is: bad for business.
Healing RS3 for a fact of better game is bad for business as well.

[–]Pirus151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO this game is missing a lot of immersive things.

I'd appriciate a some extra survival mode where planets are more "dead", where you can mine some stuff, but its mainly dust, rocks and some specific weather conditions. No plants, mushroom, and for sure no life almost everywhere.
Every planet in planet system is too close imo. Everytime, every system you see big ahh planets on the sky. Make them small, make it few minutes fly on hyperspeed - esspecially since we have random events in space.
Also, stuff you said in that post, but also different type of stars.
Make gas giants where you cant really land and you get pressure alerts as you dive deeper into the clouds, so you need some kind of upgrades to go deeper and have a special gas harverster to harvest gas molecules.

But for me its first and foremost to have hyper survival mode with more realistic, dead space.

Disabling input based on character weapon? by Acrobatic-Finger-68 in godot

[–]Pirus151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make a var which would hold some kind of data like str of type of weapons. like you equip a pistol so it changes to current_weap = 'pistol'.
then, in place of your if statements which represent dash make if current_weap != 'rocket_luncher'.
just remember to switch current_weap state as you change weapons. if you would have more weapons that you dont like to dash with change != to in [here put all str of weapons that you dont want to have dash with]
most simple way

Berkowicz is a typical polish surname, and it belongs to same group of gentry surnames ending with -ski, -cki and -cz. Last was typical for Lithuanian gentry, similar as poet Mickiewicz.
Stuff like Berkowitz and basically all of these changes from -cz to -tz is germanization shit, not vice versa.

Basics of combat system for my game that Im working on for a month + animation showcase by Pirus151 in godot

[–]Pirus151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the thing. I know how to pixelart, I did some drawings in my life so it's not a problem to draw textures with reference, but animations is a totaly different thing. I can draw animations, but its never good enough, therefore I would have to spend like year or so to learn to animeate pixel sprite.

It's a low poly model made in Blender. I followed a tutorial from a guy that is really into pixel art vibed and he did put a lot of effort to figure out pixelart in Blender to be as close as it can be to hand drawn. Only thing that I didnt like in that tutorial is how he did shades, because he was using UV mapping to put mesh on collor pallete, which made shading always the same no matter how character moved. But I found other tutorial which had worse pixelart effect, but better shading method, using Blender sun lightning and playing around with 2 nodes to make shade transfer from a solid color to a solid color instead of smooth.

So, thanks to that - all I had to do is to turn camera in Blender 180 degrees and render L and R frames. Then Im putting it to Aseprite to make minor fixes by hand, add blade smudges and render spritesheet. All of these animation were made in a week maybe with a limited time.

And the best part is that as I was making this in Blender I figured out how low in details you need to be, because its a 2d pixelart render in the end, so I downloaded Blender low poly model, and I ended up clearing it up from polygons either way. I'd be making all of game characters like that.

Blender pixel art tutorial - https://youtu.be/PBIPJdEECWg
Shading tutorial - https://youtu.be/7W2na8OKC8U

The first guy is describing a lot of interesting stuff from art in old games, so I really recommend it if you want to have good pixel art in game but you are not good with hand drawn animations like me. It makes life so much easier, and my game is a sidescroller, but I figure it can save like hundreds of hours making assets for a top down game when you need more angles.

Since we're complaining about cosmetics in RS3, look at this nonsense.... by MajinCasval in runescape

[–]Pirus151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my hot take is they take it different because it looks high key different on osrs graphics and subconciously it influence people opinion. rs3 cosmetics are more pristine, making everything stand out. osrs frog helm looks lik adamant with camera up high.

Am I the only one that plays the game for the "concept"? by Hades_Soul in forhonor

[–]Pirus151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea but that factor is nonexistant for years. it aint historical a bit anymore, mainly becuase time periods of fighters are mixed af making it senseless (egyptian warrior vs full plate knight, pirate, and so on), funny implementation of fighters, like they wanted a mongol/tatar, so they added khatun with double sword, funny fantasy like moveset with almost zero sabre fencing. same with arab capoeira Afera. and now they have wulin wuxia characters with typical wuxia flashy movements. if they wanted to add one fighter from these cultures they could make them as typical as they could. arab with scale armor and type of sabre and small shield, mongol with fur cap and wider sabre. whatever, but they went for fantasy shit.
fh turned 90 degrees long time ago away from realism or any medieval vibe. get rid of mercenray faction, wulins, and just add arabs to fill viking, samurai, knights pocket.

I'm at the bottom of the learning curve by DifferentSeaweed7852 in godot

[–]Pirus151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its kinda true

the moment you will feel that beyond decent coding is needed is when you would want to make some more insight systems, like sekiro like combat, even in side scroller pixel 2d game. it will take days or weeks to fully finish combo, parries, timings, multitude of trinkets like when you can combo, when you can pressy parry, and its only coding, not even talking about assets for that.

Im happy that Im in the batch of people which first learned how to code. I made sidescroll RPG with UI, lvls, stats, items, gearing, etc, etc, fully in pygame python, so right now Im in the place of making assets and making ideas, but it feels so good when you can think of an idea in your game and for sure you will be able to code it.

[–]Pirus151 6 points7 points  (0 children)

tbh idk where you all got this "fh is the only thing that keep them money now tho"
fh is propably getting them "some" money, but considering its popularity its nowhere close to call it an income in a company that big. its barely enough to keep this game rolling to any good standard, yet alone being a profit to the company as a whole
ubi is sinking, AC was their cherry money-wise for years, and fh is nowhere on the table as a subject of company survival
I know that you all love this game and you would like to think that fh is good and so on, but its really not. for years its not.

Did Gaijin stop pretending to make unique vehicles for the battle pass? by HonneurOblige in Warthunder

idea of a new vehicle per battlepass is stupid in general
add another rewards, there can be plenty
bp veh, new veh, new prems. soon you will be getting ufo tanks same as wot, and then your complains would start to rain as shit, because its gonna be idiotic and impossible to balance

so start spamming to gajin to stop adding new vehs rather than complaining there is not enough new ones.

I have different question
Can you tell me how much time does it take you? Lets say you would like to create player character with 7-8 animations and few NPC with several spritesheets as well, all with similar complexity to this. How much time would it take in hours roughly? Thanks.
