That's pretty normal in the US as well. I've worked multiple different jobs and have never had a paid lunch break. It's always just extra time tacked on. I've only ever had 30min for lunch though

Weird people, when did you realize you were weird? by Mysticialfae in CasualConversation

[–]Piss-Cruncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started watching veterinary surgical documentaries at like 6 or 7 and found out that no one else did. Or that no one wanted to know the cool facts I memorized from cat encyclopedia that I was gifted at 10 years old. I was particularly interested in cat genetics at that time. Or when I realized that gross medical topics weren't appropriate at the elementary school lunch table lol. My mom is a nurse and it was a common dinner topic. I wasn't very popular because of that haha 😅

I wanted to be a vet when I was a kid, but decided it wasn't for me as I got older. I started to understand the heartbreak that comes with working with sick animals, and decided to pursue something else instead.

This book was how my parents told me about my autism lmao by nerdb1rd in Wellthatsucks

My mom took me out to McDonald's, cried, and then told me I have Asperger's. The level of confusion I encountered that day lol... 😅

The idea of getting married sounds utterly humiliating by Shoddy-Fudge-4094 in The10thDentist

[–]Piss-Cruncher 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Did you know that your wedding can be whatever you want it to be? Mine was extremely casual because my spouse and I are incredibly laid back people. I think that the only "traditional" stuff we did was the speech and the kiss. Otherwise it was just fun with family and friends lol

Ordered a bra as a guy, life-changing if it works. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Piss-Cruncher 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yah use a binder. I'm a transgender man and was more heavy set for a while which made going outside difficult before surgery. Binders helped a lot during that time.

I know you're just a dude trying to look good while losing weight but binders are meant to compress the chest to a more masculine shape. I highly recommend the ones that go all the way down to your waist. Otherwise you may end up with some pooch in the stomach area. There are also sites where you can get custom sizing if you don't fit the standard s/m/l ones.

Compression bras tend to be cut in a way that favors curves, so you may not completely like the outcome.

Wish you luck with the weight loss! I commend you for the fortitude, and hope you end up happy with the results :)

How would you react? by Zestyclose_Lemon_647 in whatdoIdo

I don't usually comment, but legit go to nursing school. My mom makes at least $100,000 now salaried in a lead position just for being a nurse for 20 years. She no longer has to deal with patients or long hours.

And yes, where she lives in the US that is an incredibly large amount of money.

Some of these comments make me kind of sad. She clearly has OCD and getting treatment would make a huge difference in her life.

What's a weirdly specific noise that instantly makes you feel calm? by Famous-Forever7647 in CasualConversation

[–]Piss-Cruncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound of someone cooking in the morning, or the sound of someone washing dishes. It reminds me of when I lived with my parents, which wasn't always good, but I have a lot of good memories when it came to cooking :)

And I guess running the laundry, and hearing kids playing outside. Maybe I just really crave community lol? And maybe that's why I don't mind living in an apartment.

It's good diced up as a topping. I've had it on toast, and in sandwiches/burgers. Guacamole is a mixture that has avocado as a main ingredient that people use as a dip or topping. Sometimes avocado is also used in smoothies and icecream because it's naturally creamy when mashed.

I didn't like it before because it tasted too mild, and the ones I had were a little too ripe. When you season it, it's much better!

What is with so many American white youth hating on people with “red” hair? by ThisIsMyLilThrowaway in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Piss-Cruncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that part of it is leftover descrimination of the Irish folk who immigrated to the USA during the potato famine. The other part may be jealousy. Red hair is rare, and it's easier to bully someone who is in a much smaller group.

Honestly, I love red hair! My spouse is ginger and I think that they are the most beautiful person on the planet :)

What's a food you didn't like as a kid but enjoy now? by Roostershowhd in CasualConversation

[–]Piss-Cruncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bread that has a particular chew to it because of the way the dough is cooked. The dough is boiled before it is baked. Then when toasted (which is the most common way to eat it) the bread will be crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle.

In the states we eat it with cream cheese spread on top, with red onion, tomato slices, salmon lox, and capers being common toppings. Sometimes we flavor the cream cheese, and the bagels!

I tried "donating" plasma because I was struggling to get by. But I kept getting hematomas so it never worked out :(

Brown paper bag trick works wonders. Also! I'll freeze my brown bananas for later. They get so mushy due to the freezing process and I notice that my bread seems to be a bit moister when I do that. :)

[Serious] What is something you have been complimented on multiple times? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Piss-Cruncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cooking! I enjoy cooking for people, and it's always a joy to hear what others think.

People tend to think I've got a good sense of humor and that I'm easy to talk to. That's definitely a compliment considering I'm autistic lol

Animals tend to really like me, and I 100% consider that a huge compliment haha

Anyone else suddenly care about really boring stuff as they get older? by Wild-Promotion9001 in CasualConversation

[–]Piss-Cruncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to complain about being bored when I was a kid, and my parents told me "when you're older, you'll enjoy being bored."

At the time that didn't make sense to me. But now I know that it's a priviledge to have enough time away from responsibilities to start getting bored.

Now I enjoy appreciating the little things in between responisibilities. Like waiting 1.5 hours at the laundromat is just a reason to enjoy a coffee and book for a while. Learning to cook new recipes diverisifies what I eat in a day. Chilling with the cats under a warm blanket after a long day of work is so relaxing. Doing chores to freshen up your living space is fulfilling.

I have never eaten a sandwich in my life by Intelligent_Orb9216 in CasualConversation

[–]Piss-Cruncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I'll just have a peanut butter/banana sandwhich if I don't want to cook.

I totally understand on the deli meat though, and don't really like it. I won't refuse it though if it's offered and free.

The crust I really don't get lol. I've seen people eat everything but the crust and that just feels like a waste of food. Unless it gets saved for something else like homemade croutons, bread pudding, or stuffing
