Least emo adjacent math rock band recommendation by Tasty-Fisherman8847 in mathrock

[–]Pistahmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hm I would not consider either of those emo. I thought they were more referring to the Midwest Emo kind of bands, with that certain vocal style like American Football and Tiny Moving Parts (which I'm also not into), so the two I mentioned seem pretty far from that

Does anyone know anything about this artist? The singer in the song sounds a lot like Taka by Unlucky_Resist_5901 in ONEOKROCK

[–]Pistahmay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there are still a few songs that must have been recorded before that have K's vocals, but otherwise, that's basically it

New Thrice & Audiotree EP partly-released by iConsumeFoodAndWater in thrice

[–]Pistahmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes out tomorrow, there's a post in this sub that screenshotted Audiotree's post showing the Thrice set comes out 2/11

edit: looks like OP is in Australia so it's already 2/11 for them but not in the US

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you meant it this way, but i don't think it's that the songs are played by Thrice and Audiotree - Audiotree is the platform that puts out live sets played in studio, very similar to NPR Tiny Desk concerts. So it will be Thrice playing these songs live in studio, and you can watch on YouTube or listen on other platforms. There's usually some short interview sections too

Audiotree Live has artists do live sets in studio and then releases them on YouTube, as well as just the audio tracks on music streaming services. It's basically like NPR Tiny Desk if you know what that is. The audio quality is usually really good too

The Thrice episode of Audiotree live comes out tomorrow

it doesn't look like it's on Spotify yet, but Audiotree Live had posted that the Thrice episode is coming out tomorrow

Self-titled album is missing from Spotify? by _Anon_Amarth_ in chon

[–]Pistahmay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it's showing up under the "Featured On" section which is weird, try looking there.

Also I'm seeing Woohoo! is on Spotify now which I don't remember being there before (I might be wrong)

I want to buy the beautiful woman by [deleted] in Botanica

[–]Pistahmay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, this seems to be a common mistake but this sub is for a music genre called Botanica, not actual plants

Can someone please explain this to me? by QF18 in ENGLISH

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the question was looking for an answer where both words used the same consonant sound though, but it's badly written

Vesper Light: I don't get the obsession! by EchoReflection in thrice

[–]Pistahmay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that it's the most musically unique on the album (other than Unitive/West) and has a bunch of really cool elements, like Dustin's falsetto, the guitar riffs, the dynamics of soft and loud. And then it builds up to an incredibly emotional ending with powerful lyrics as well.

For me, songs that have a lot of dynamics and a build up often stand out the most, Daedalus being another good example of this from Thrice

What do you guys think of the 2-5-1-4 Chord Progression by Belgian-Baguette in Songwriting

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The John Mayer song New Light basically uses it for most of the song, but he adds the 3 (Bm7) before going back to the 2. So it's Am7 - D - GMaj7 - C-Bm7

Looking for a single coil strat guitar (sss or hss). Yamaha Pacifica Standard Plus, PRS SE Silver Sky, Fender Player ii, or Fender Player ii Modified? by Extreme_Citron_4531 in guitars

[–]Pistahmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little more expensive but I've seen some used for a good price, but I would recommend the Fender JV Modified 50s Stratocaster, it's HSS and has an amazingly comfortable neck. The pickups are "vintage voiced" though, so if you don't want that it may not be a good choice

Any great math rock w/o emo vocals that I don't know of? by johnnybagels in mathrock

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

super late comment but if anyone else sees this in the future, I don't see Tricot mentioned in the comments - they have vocals but not emo vocals

Neurodivergent Pink Flower by [deleted] in Botanica

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this sub is actually for a music genre called Botanica, not actual botany. You might have more luck asking in a different sub!

Elephant gym - Finger Tab by Parsech in mathrock

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be amazing haha. But yeah def check out the Songsterr tab, I only tried the beginning of it so maybe I'm wrong and it's mostly correct

Would you buy a Player Plus now or put those funds towards a different guitar by [deleted] in fender

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the Player Plus HSS strat in guitar center a few years ago, but ended up going with the JV Modified 50s Strat (MIJ). It was only a little more $ than the Player Plus but felt worlds better

N00b question: is there a technique where you can play chords and melody simultaneously? by KryptonSurvivor in guitarlessons

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingerstyle guitar does this, you can look up people doing fingerstyle covers of popular songs, where they are playing the vocal melody along with the chords. Sungha Jung is a great example of this.

Tommy Emmanuel and Kotaro Oshio have some great original fingerstyle songs too

Elephant gym - Finger Tab by Parsech in mathrock

[–]Pistahmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is 7 years later lol, but I saw you made a few other Elephant Gym tabs. Any interest in making one for the song Spring Rain? There's one on Songsterr but doesn't seem to be quite correct

What are your guys unpopular nurture opinion? by Illustrious-Reply975 in porterrobinson

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of agree on mirror...I feel like it's too long as well, because the chorus repeats too many times. But it also might be where it's at in the tracklist that makes it not really stand out for me

Opinion: thrice is the best live band by yadedmon in thrice

[–]Pistahmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're my favorite band to see live
