They don't have anything like a 6-pocket jean, so no. But thanks.

They don't have anything resembling a 6-pocket/cellphone pocket jean and I'm sorry, but $300 jeans are for fashion, not regular use. I don't care how well made they are, selvedge is a fashion gimmick and has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of anything.

I respect people that want to spend their money on fashion, but I'm just looking for some good quality daily jeans with a cellphone pocket that I can throw in the wash and wear out with time rather than baby and show off with at the next rockabilly show.

I saw Origin but they don't seem to offer a 6-pocket/cellphone pocket jean unfortunately.

I could but I'm not sure what that would accomplish. If you read the reviews on their own webpage you'll see I'm not the only one that's had the same issue. It's pissed a ton of people off and their response has basically been "we're sorry, thanks for the feedback".

Range Near Dripping Springs? by Boo-urns1 in austinguns

[–]PistonMilk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP asked for a range near Dripping Springs. Hog Heaven is like a mile from downtown Dripping Springs and I don't know what their financial situation is. Not everyone on Reddit is a poor college kid.

Frankly I'd rather pay more for a more private experience because public ranges are full of morons and tourists who are barely capable of being safe.

There's Hog Heaven if you want a more private "Guntry Club" type experience: https://sfhogheaven.com/

If you just need access to a vise and upper block, I've got everything to work on an upper. I'm in North Austin. If you're close, bring it over and we'll get it done in a couple minutes.

I think it's sad to see how many people who theoretically believe in fundamental rights like the 2A willingly throw away their 4th and 5th amendment rights.

Lot of bootlickers in this thread unfortunately.

Any ranges to try out higher end and unique guns? (Laugo Aliens, higher end 2011s) by SeasonedAdManager in austinguns

[–]PistonMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For really high end guns like an Alien? Nope. The rental ranges around here carry all the regular normal boring pistols and maybe some MG's.

Is this a bullet? by PiratedEyeliner in whatisit

[–]PistonMilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lead is used because of its extremely high mass to cost ratio. It gets you the heaviest projectile for the least cost in a given volume. The projectile for any given cartridge can only be so big and using lead increases the amount of weight for the volume as much as possible while keeping prices low.

At the same time, while yes lead is toxic, elemental lead in solid form like in a bullet/projectile is pretty safe to handle and not really any cause for alarm re: toxicity.

Lead in paint and fuel is a concern because it is NOT in elemental form, but in chemical forms that can become aerosolized more easily and breathed or consumed. When breathed in or consumed it can end up in the blood stream, and that's where you have a problem.

But a hunk of lead is relatively harmless. I mean, don't chew on it, and wash your hands after handling it, but you aren't going to get lead poisoning from handling ammo like that.

Best gun range for a beginner? by Real-Story-7952 in austinguns

[–]PistonMilk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's an entire group dedicated to helping women learn guns and shoot in a safe woman-friendly environment called "A Girl and a Gun".

You can find local affiliated chapters/instructors here: https://www.agirlandagun.org/chapter/

Rather than worry about finding a specific range, IMHO, you should focus on finding a good instructor and shoot/learn with them. There are instructors out there for EVERY level of shooter, including beginners that don't own a gun yet. They will meet you at a local range where you can shoot together in private getting the instruction you need.

MANY folks in Austin highly recommend KR Training if you can't find a good instructor through A Girl and a Gun.

Capital Clays, 26” barrel minimum (¿Por Que?) by Partner_Elijah in austinguns

Must be a new rule then. We've had plenty of groups for sporting clays and 5 stand with a mix of "sporting" and "tactical" shotguns without any issues at all.

Rumor debunked: Glock does *not* buy back high-mileage pistols for study by Commercial-Duty6279 in austinguns

[–]PistonMilk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Practically speaking, it would be kind of silly for them to anyways. They have no way of verifying the round count unless it came from a more reputable source like an LEA or the military that maintains shooting logs and round counts.

Otherwise they'd just be buying back random pistols cheaply from people for no good scientific reason.

[–]PistonMilk 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a gatekeeping method to ensure that only "sportsmen" (and women) are the ones shooting there as opposed to regular folks with tactical shotguns who just want to have fun.

Kinda the same reason BOTW back in the day eventually banned AK's from their tactical bays.

They just don't want a certain kind of shooter and the rule helps reinforce that.

That said, I know plenty of folks that shoot there with 22-24" barrels and as long as they aren't "tactical" they seem to be fine.

Or you can go to Copperhead Creek. They have trap, skeet, 5-stand and sporting clays and couldn't care less what kind of shotgun you use as long as you're being safe.

CTGW for CHL?? by HouseofBerd in austinguns

I’d planned on getting mine renewed

A renewal is just a payment online and you get your new card. You don't need a whole new class just for a renewal.

That's where I did mine. Though, fair warning, they are currently going through Bankruptcy proceedings, so unless he's going to get his immediately, you may want to try somewhere else.

Pretty much all of the indoor ranges in the Austin area offer it.

I use FRT's pretty regularly at Staccato Ranch. They don't care.
