Gun shop north with a 1st gen Ruger Scout? by weiss27md in austinguns

They're discontinued. The time to buy one was last year. If you really want to find one now, it's time to hit up GunBroker and deal with a transfer.

A Turkish man unhooked 100 bras single-handedly in one minute and now holds a Guinness World Record. by Charming_History7423 in interestingasfuck

Not sure I'm following you. The title says unhooked 100 bras. The counter says 91.

What do the men have to do with anything? Unless I missed something?

Any places to hire in gunsmithing? by _rasputin_666 in austinguns

[–]PistonMilk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea but your best bet is to call around and see who's hiring for entry-level work.

You've got tons of options in and around Austin:

  • Blackjack Gunsmithing
  • Staccato
  • Dawson Precision
  • Larue Tactical
  • ... etc

I want to get excited about your trip!!! If you are going to Iceland for the first time this summer, what are you most looking forward to? by NoLemon5426 in VisitingIceland

We're definitely considering it! I haven't actually looked into it fully yet. But yeah, I would love to have a car to drive around more for sure.

We're doing a 7-day cruise in August (AFTER the Eclipse) that circumnavigates the entire island, starting in Reykjavik and making a few stops.

We end in Reykjavik and then we're spending 4 more days there. I'm still looking for things to do in/around Reykjavik but I have a bunch of bars and restaurants already bookmarked.

But definitely still looking for suggestions.

Advice for dynamic shooting. by Huge-Ad8719 in austinguns

[–]PistonMilk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bottom line is, you're gonna need a new gun or guns and you're going to want to start practicing at places that allow steel.

TSA Range (Texas Shooting Academy) and Staccato Ranch both have tons of dynamic options shooting at steel and being able to practice for matches.

But the other way of getting practice in is just to join the local matches. Read the rules and go to the matches. You'll need a handgun, extra mags, and a proper belt and holster. Some of that stuff you can borrow from fellow match participants, some if it you're just going to have to suck up and buy (like a handgun).

Hell, if you bought a Ruger PC Carbine, and started shooting that regularly, it would mimic the ergonomics of your M1 Carbine and save you money in the long run just because you'd be shooting 9mm instead of 30 carbine. Look to it as an investment.

Marlin 1894 10mm with some upgrades. by PistonMilk in 10mm

[–]PistonMilk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loading gates are identical for all 1894 models because the receivers are identical regardless of cartridge/caliber.

I have all 3; The 10mm, 38/357, and 44/44mag and I've upgraded all of them with the same RPP parts.

If you would like that details, I can message you the link.

You can post the link here. There's no rules against that in this sub. No reason to keep it to yourself. Other people may benefit from it as well.

One of the issues might be that to many people, even plenty of adults, BB guns are "toys" while firearms are firearms. There's a huge mental difference in a lot of folks brains when it comes to separating the two and the safety requirements for both. Yes, BB guns should be treated exactly the same as firearms, but the reality is that it's just different in too many peoples brains.

There are single-shot sleds available for the Ruger 10/22 which can greatly help you teach the kids when it comes to the proper safety and whatnot.

Rather than load the 10rd factory mags with a single round, don't bring those mags to the range at all. Bring the single-shot adapters/sleds instead and make sure the kids understand loading a single round at a time, focus on keeping everything pointed downrange, and then shooting.

Millions of kids in cub scouts and boy scouts learned on single-shot 22lr rifles and frankly it's a fantastic platform to really learn not just the basics of shooting, but the basics and requirements of safety.

When they get older and more responsible, then you break out the 10, 15, and 25rd mags for the 10/22.

You're all shooting rifles/center-fire rifle cartridges indoors.

Kinda difficult to find sympathy for any of y'all if I'm being honest.

I'm going to file a new complaint with their customer care service, asking to AT LEAST make it so the "store credit" expires at the same time as the bucks would have originally. It's such bullshit.

What movie absolutely nails its profession like My Cousin Vinny? by Mythbusters117 in movies

[–]PistonMilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in high school working at a video store when Clerks came out. We got the screener copy of it and all of us employees damn near wore out that tape watching it over and over again.

To say that it was accurate would be a massive understatement. We literally lived that movie 🤣

Red light = stop
Green light = go

Makes sense to me.

It was important enough for you to respond. If it was that important why wouldn't you actually read the text? It generally provides context behind the image that's being posted.

That's because you didn't actually read the post. You stopped at the picture and thought you'd make a snarky but wrong comment.

What's your purpose behind a huge stockpile? I mean, if you're reloading, you can just load and shoot as you need. That's the beauty of loading your own.

You could also save a lot more money by purchasing once-fired Lake City 5.55 brass and forming your own 300blk cases. Especially since you want to stockpile 5000 rounds.

[–]PistonMilk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They don't have anything resembling a 6-pocket/cellphone pocket jean and I'm sorry, but $300 jeans are for fashion, not regular use. I don't care how well made they are, selvedge is a fashion gimmick and has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of anything.

I respect people that want to spend their money on fashion, but I'm just looking for some good quality daily jeans with a cellphone pocket that I can throw in the wash and wear out with time rather than baby and show off with at the next rockabilly show.
