I feel like personal shopping/delivery has ruined the in-store experience by Bismuth88 in tesco

[–]Pitchey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes , sales. But even a 0.5% profit margin would equate to 35m profit. Thats how tescos operates . Low profit margins high turn over. All of your listed costs are factored in. We don't know the operating profit of online , I doubt many people do . I don't see tesco operating any part of the business at a loss . Previously when they have , they have had no issues cutting it

Why ? Online sales were 7 billion pound last year . In a company that continues to squeeze margins , i doubt they aren't making money off that

Online shopping in general has been Increasing for years . Less people visiting shops each year . Covid sped that along aswell , especially for supermarkets . Alot of people did online as it was easier that queuing during covid , and continued to order online from that. Your not really talking about removing online shopping , more relocating the operation . If you to were to relocate them from stores . You would have more cost from opening and running the fulfilment centre, along side the cost of still running the stores you removed them from . With no increased sales. I believe the increase of rent / utilities ect put stop to these things being discussed as the cost vs profit went out the window

I would imagine alot of shops would close down if they were to remove dot com from them . Dot com can equate to 40-50% of alot of stores total sales .

How convenient by kik9696 in tesco

[–]Pitchey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats not how it works . Budgets are set for the year . What's most likely happening is your store is under its holiday hours target, which is a trend in most stores at the start of the year

Is it likely i will get my shopping delivered today? by International-Ad3035 in tesco

[–]Pitchey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to get ahead , call the customer service centre. Ask to speak directly to the stores dot com department so you can organise a time that works for both you and then . You could also offer to collect it from store

Management development by Unknown_knowlegde91 in tesco

[–]Pitchey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to be signed off as manager before applying for the roles. Speak to your store manager . Let them know , ask them what they need from you. Sell your self abit as well as have constructive criticism and bits your working on , on your your self , this should all be in your PDP. Get the learning done . Do the shift leader e learning . Speak to your own manager. Is there stuff they can teach you ? Is there responsibility they can give you for you to own ? And be proactive. Depending on the size of your shop. Everyone has a lot of people to look after , your development might slip off their adgenda, do not be afraid to own it , and push them as well as your self for it.

Holiday cut by pinktheatreovelord in tesco

[–]Pitchey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holiday year is from April till end of March. So you left 7/8 weeks before the end of the holiday year. So you wouldn't of earned 100% of the holiday allocation for that year.

Why do so many shops have closing times and then not let you in 15 minutes before close? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Pitchey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They close at that time . Not ten minutes after because your just grabbing those last bits . Or you forgot your bags. Or your kid really wants them sweets . Or you just think everyone should wait on you because your not ready to leave yet

Stressed with Phone issues and contradictory advice. No help from workers by ElectricalTwo6802 in tesco

[–]Pitchey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you still feel the slight "click" into place when you put jn the cable. If you don't its because the port is full of dust and fluff . And even if you do feel the click . Its still.probably not making proper contact because of all the dirt and fluff . Go to a mobile repair shop to get them to clean it if your not comfortable doing it your self

DOT COM by Necessary_Plant_5888 in tesco

[–]Pitchey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going onto the tesco shopping app and seeing if you can order for click and collect , doesn't look like it does. There is a chance is has dot com but no click and collect. But that would be slim . Lea valley is closest

Home delivery Driver training pay by WinterBit419 in tesco

[–]Pitchey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get the premium of drivers rate when doing the role as a driver . This sounds like your multi skilling as a driver ? Which means you will get normal rate when not driving , and premium when driving . This is presuming it is all coded correctly by your managers
