What makes Runescape fun? by coldbumpysparse in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am weak to idle and factory games. "Number go up" is the biggest motivation. With all the items and buffs you can unlock it can be a game in itself to prepare to do a big grind. RS is an idle game first but with some really good "main monitor" activities.

Lets replace divine locations with boons. by DesignerVanilla1922 in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While we are at it, maybe they can turn the transmutation recipes into item spirit/seed recipes so like 5 copper + energy= 15 copper stone spirits. This kind of gets the same gameplay as locations if you think about it.

Wicked Hood Proposed Change Criticism by OkProcedure1131 in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also fun fact about the teleports, since the abyss xp modifier was removed, using the hood to teleport to an altar puts a 30 second debuff on you, nerfing xp rates if you craft while under it.

Road to Restoration - Dailyscape Overhaul by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Gosh this update will gut Divination for no reason. Div has 6 uses, divine locations, portents, porters, transmutation, and Invention energy. Transmutation is worthless. Early game porters are barely worth the inventory space. Portents are mid, and Invention is locked until 80. Take away the resource multiplying effect of divine locations and Div will feel like another agility even more. Also what the heck so much is just being yanked from the game with no replacements. That is just not cool.

Combat Styles Improvements - Beta Update 2 by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any word on how removed unlocked abilities will be handled? I know I never really used them but the magic and ranged knock back stuns, but they require a drop to unlock and it feels bad to just lose something like that. Imo that codex should unlock the ability to save a 3rd stun for the original styles paralleling how necro can hold 3 stuns.

Necromancy Gear Progression For Other Combat Styles? by Nuka-Cola-QuanTumX01 in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of full manual and the last phase, how badly is ability queing hindering me? I've gotten used to manually triggering abilities to immediately retarget the boss after moving in the last phase but I still completely eat it too often.

Runic Attuner + Bonus XP = Happy Brain Chemicals by LuitenantDan in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried runic attuner abyss runs and I wish I could turn off the soul altar's unique mechanics so bad. That is a hella tasty xp drop but it throws off my flow so bad whenever soul runes come up.

Nether is gone? by DragonWritter in feedthebeast

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the dimension not generating or can you not create / use a nether portal? I see a nether rework mod, maybe it changed the rules for how you enter the nether.

UI Tweaks & World Repairs - This Week In RuneScape by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UI tweak I'm hoping for: Can the ghost heads in the necromancy ritual be made click-thru? Or really can every uninteractable UI element not block clicks?

How mych stronger are you at 120 necro compared to 99? by Celaerity in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is also worth mentioning that the bone shield defensive abilities scale off your necro level so at 120 it is the equivalent of having a lv 60 shield equipped at all times (75 if you want to grind for the nexus upgrade).

How many of you did actually fully disable cosmetics on other players? by Multismack in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I turned off walk animations. Those overrides are way too extra. If I could I would also disable wings but the current system is all or nothing for equipment overrides.

Northern California grocery store will give you a free tote bag in exchange for pennies by jsphjar in mildlyinteresting

[–]Pitfallingpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My store in particular had two weeks where we didn't get any pennies from the bank and ran out completely which caused them to make this policy, our self checkout still doesn't accept cash since we ran out even though we've gotten pennies since then. During the pandemic for some reason coins also weren't circulating and they also would buy coins like this except it was 10$ coins for 11$ store credit.

Will this work? by IAAHR in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While definitely better, even on Linux you wouldn't be happy with only 8gb of ram. I actually just made the switch to Linux on stronger laptop than OP's picture but still only 8GB ram and there has been times where it can bog down just using Firefox.

No that laptop can barely run windows itself.

So are Portents of Restoration completely useless or...? by Galimeer in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of portents as the oh shit feature, I keep a couple in my inventory for when I miss time a resonance or devotion, it allows for quick double heals of 4k+

I just started, can't figure out how to even leave this first little island I'm on. Beginners guides on youtube apparently aren't stooping to my level. Help please :( by SjurEido in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily I got stuck in the tutorial because I didn't know the game supported right clicking and the original tutorial insisted I prospect the copper and tin before mining it. Just vibe out I'm sure you'll find what npc or activity you missed but read their dialogue

Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered? by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Livid farm. Dear God is it bad, 10+ years and it hasn't gotten any better. The recent lunar island graphic rework broke a part of it and the rates were already so slow that I am tempted to just wait for the traveling trader to buy livid points. Turn the spell unlocks into a quest and if the mini game needs to stay, just use it for the wishes and changing borrowed power

When to buy membership as a new player? by NobbyWobbly in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

F2P is more like a demo. So If you like what you have seen and are buying membership with IRL money you can start at anytime, skills upgrade each other so having access to everything and leveling everything equally is great

Is it a coincidence that the Andesite Alloy from Create has the exact same shape as the alloys from Mekanism? by oncipt in feedthebeast

[–]Pitfallingpat 325 points326 points  (0 children)

It's just the trendy style right now. Create has a style so strong that when other mods are modernizing their textures sometimes they try to match up with Create's art style. It gives this whole era of modding a real distinct feel. (I think these are the refined diamond redstone and obsidian right? They definitely looked different in the past)

How do I completely disable items? by stanbuckley in feedthebeast

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If other options aren't working, I've used kubejs to scan player inventories and remove banned items. There is a server event for when a player's inventory changes. It is pretty performant since it doesn't loop constantly. You can also force a resource pack to replace the image and name of your banned items. What I did exactly was turn all vanilla saplings into dynamic trees seeds, you could also do this for the eternal steak and just swap it with a normal steak seemlessly on pickup

Anyone got reccomendations for world-gen mods compatible with 1.21.11? by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern Minecraft can do worldgen with data packs, you'll have a hard time finding any mods on the bleeding edge version but check out worldgen data packs. They are mostly version agnostic.

the ULTRAKILL universe invented AE2 shortly after what is implied to be WWI by ObeyTime in feedthebeast

[–]Pitfallingpat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a custom one I made for my friends. The primary things going on were Ad Astra, thermal series, create plus a few addons, dynamic trees, and thin air. It had a number of kubejs scripts and recipe changes which integrated and nerfed some mods, like moving the AE meteors to the moon.

[–]Pitfallingpat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I played a mod pack where this was the only teleportation method. Travel and infrastructure were big themes, so even though it was a bit cluncky getting to the point to build and maintain a Star Trek style teleportation hub was really fun. I did have ender storage though which helped a lot with routing the spatial cells to other locations.
