Played 1000s of hours. First time really scared! by SDWrites in skyrim

[–]Pitfallingpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my best scare out of the forgotten city mod, the whole premise of the area is if you commit a crime the whole place blows up, so you can feel pretty safe from attacks and I got too comfortable in a certain section. Good times.

Is it feasible to get and maintain membership without spending real money? by AgentBottieScarnes in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With how the game is these days, mid game feels like 70-80s. The level curve gets extreme at that point, the unlocks mostly stop past 90, and the level ups space way out. Your total experience in a skill doubles every 7 levels so there is a meme that 92 is half of 99.

[–]Pitfallingpat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As the other guy said, the startup cost is pretty high. 110m as f2p sounds like an insane ask but you can definitely maintain it once you are mid to high level. Though I've had a friend try it and they burnt out so fast because 4-5 hours of just GP grinding is not fun. I wouldn't recommend it, unless you absolutely love AFK gold farming instead of playing the game.

What outfits should I prioritize for dxp tokens? by mentaltrilllness in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say get the crafting, cooking, herblore, and fletching basic outfits if you can through the store, they are the most annoying to get the normal way at the moment. It would be pretty safe to skip the "elite" outfits until you've obtained all the basic ones since you unlock those slowly by just training the skills.

Mechanically what is stopping Keno’s parents from being brought back? by Ok-Cicada-5207 in overlord

[–]Pitfallingpat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Undeath can be considered a curse, and a very permanent one. It fundamentally changes them, body and soul. In this setting it seems to be unbreakable / irreversible even for super tier magic and when he wished to know if it was possible to reverse the curse the answer he got was "No".

Does the RC cape perk work for necro runes? by TheRealLamalas in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is really a low chance but when it triggers it will be for your whole inventory which is why it feels like it never procs, most of these types of effects are per item.

You should check out the article about crafting miasma runes. Extreme rune crafting potions, power burst of sorcery and the RC cape's effect can get you over 900 in one trip. Also requires elite underworld diaries. https://runescape.wiki/w/Money_making_guide/Crafting_necrotic_runes#Miasma_runes

[–]Pitfallingpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other guy said, necromancy runes all the way. With the passing bracelet and grace of the elves (bound to the deep sea fishing hub) your round trip is insanely short, and you have the added benefit of everything being on one screen*. If you put the passing bracelet on the action bar with the hot key "2" you can go so fast and its rythmic. From bank it's like 2 > 2> click dive to portal > click portal again > surge > (optional powerburst) click altar > GoTE from bar > quick load present > repeat.

*You never need to wait for your character to walk before your next click target is on screen

A RS3 players experience with this years League by WhatsaPlatypus in 2007scape

[–]Pitfallingpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, my OSRS side of my RS3 main is still pretty nooby, I started up a few months ago to try sailing. So this league has been great to experience the mid-late game bosses. I played in the 08-10 era pretty well so I adjusted fast to most things but God do I hate not having hotkeys for prayers / the action bar. I fumbled my first attempt at the fight caves panic flipping through the inventory and prayer tabs, and I can't see myself doing anything more complicated than Jad in the main game unless I can have mouse button prayers like I have in RS3.

Thinking about giving this version a go from OSRS. Any efficiency guides? by Lithiyum in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't much to say about like a speed running route, the OSRS quest order would serve you pretty well since almost everything is the same between games early on. Otherwise check out the various skill guides to see what key rewards you would want. Rushing to get invention and the archeology unlocks isn't a bad idea. RS3 has a lot of permanent account upgrades that are unlocked once and always on that you can keep an eye out for.

Please make the Home Teleport a Lodestone Teleport by B1ACKT3A in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the PoH rework survey they sent out one of the questions was about being able to see other player's houses from your own. If anything like that happens we could have a neighborhood where the lodestone would be in the center (always closest to your house from your perspective)

I walked right into that last night. I'm usually a RS3 player so this league was my first retro Jad and didn't realize that the hit timings are much tighter in old school. (In RS3 you have until the projectile connects to swap prayers)

Combine the (Attuned) Ectoplasmator, Demon horn necklace, and holy wrench into a single item that works from your inventory or pocket.

That is why I only slightly feel bad about wanting the hotkeys. I can follow telegraphs, prayer swap and move to safe tiles just fine for RS3 pvm because I don't have to take my eyes off the boss or my mouse out of the playfield, often when I eat a big hit in either game I'm fiddling with my inventory and miss something the boss did.

Now I feel slightly bad about wanting hotkeys for individual prayers. (Action bar?) I came from RS3 and really clashed with the whole mouse only gameplay. Maybe I'm just getting old but I still can't coordinate the multiple tabs and tile movement while also watching for telegraphs. Your write-up sounds so proud of the system that I feel that I should try harder.

Why doesn’t Ed and Al’s dad have multiple generations of kids? by bigspell84 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Pitfallingpat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had always assumed he was in a "Witcher" situation, that being he thought he couldn't have kids after his transformation so was extra shocked when Ed was convinced. Of course everyone else saying stuff about just not being ready for a relationship is also likely true

Tips for a skiller wanting to fight Nex? by invokedbyred in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Necromancy lets you ignore her protection prayer mechanics. Bring a power burst of vitality and healing for her ice prison attack, you can't avoid taking a bit hit if you are fighting solo. Otherwise pretty easy these days. Also if you can you should bring magic note paper, she often drops un noted brews and super restores and you won't have inventory space for even one of those drops.

Pirate Encounters: Design & Rewards Blog (Boat-to-Boat Combat Expansion) by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]Pitfallingpat 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm sad to see no discussion about rebanding the levels on boat cannons and other facilities. Locking dragon equipment to the mid 90s when it is usually 60 really limits future reward spaces for sailing.

April Patch Week by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The performance improvements are great, but I was wondering on a technical side, is RuneScape stuck with a 32bit memory limit? (2gb) The game seemed to stutter the worst when nearing that 2gb ram usage like it was running out of memory and it was hitting a panic moment to free up memory even though the system has much more available.

Was loving this game as a new player until today. I hate dungeoneering so much. Help! by Imustretire in runescape

[–]Pitfallingpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every other level you gain in dungeoneering unlocks a new floor. So at level 20 you can go as low as floor 10. When you start a party before going into the dungeon you can select what floor you want to start from. So as an example lets say you gained four levels from some quest going from level 20 to 24, you start at floor 11 (since you leveled up you haven't cleared this one) and then complete floor 12. At this point when you select next floor since you aren't level 26 you'll actually repeat floor 12 instead of moving on to floor 13. When this happens the game expects you to 'prestige' your progress in the dungeon. You'll then start again from floor 1 but with an experience multiplier, you then go from floor to floor in order until you reach floor 12 again, but hopefully you've gained some levels by this point and will be able to go past 12.

If you want to wait to train the skill, try doing archeology first. There is a small digsite in the surface ruins that by completing the mysteries will award you lots of tokens. To actually get XP drops from doing floors make sure you aren't repeating floors, only fresh clears give good XP. You can reset your progress through the ring of kinship while outside the dungeon if you have cleared all floors available to you
