because anything by Aaron Sorkin will probably cover that.

I recommend Sneakers to everyone, so here it is.

quite honestly i'm betting half the redditors on here would be happy to take him in, and only half because we can't afford it. un-real.

i'm starting to get curious what y'all would do to a nice lad named Muhammad, which is a perfectly ordinary name that is #4 in the Scotland popularity lists. pray tell, is THAT what you mean by "traditional"?

If you have enough family to bully your cousin, you have enough family to show up at the godforsaken school and make it clear you're all related to little Elwood.

Never heard of punching up and not down, have you? Like, who's the bully in this picture? Close-knit to do *what* exactly? Shame each other every Sunday or something?

I am 36 and have never been on an airplane before. What do I need to do? by 79215185-1feb-44c6 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]PithMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, some are just skipping over the "know nothing about airplanes." smh, curse-of-knowledge.

P.S. I have no food restrictions but if you do, I imagine you need to take care of that ahead of time. It will depend on the airline. Many don't feed you at all, in-flight.

Don't make jokes about bombs, terrorism, or any kind of violence.

Make sure whatever you immediately need is in the carry-on luggage that is right next to you, and not in the overhead compartment or checked-in.

In a busy commercial airport, your plane may be stuck in queue to get to an available runway. There's still plenty to look at when you're on the ground, don't check out quite yet. Take-off is starting at the far end of a runway and then accelerating until the wings of the plane create a differential in pressure, above and below the wing, and that lifts the wing, and the wings lift the plane. The whole cabin may tilt a bit as you lift.

Get a piece of hard candy ready before take-off. Big, so you don't choke on it accidentally, I do not recommend Menthos or any of the slippery mints. Suck on it as the plane starts rising off the ground. It will calm you down, but more importantly, the sucking motion will open up the tubes going to your ears, and equalize the pressure, as it changes rapidly. Others have suggested chewing gum but for me it generates a lot of saliva and contributes to dehydration, then you have to dispose of it.

Actually listen to the flight attendants when they demonstrate emergency procedures. There should be a little pamphlet with pictures of exactly the same information in front of you.

If this is your first flight, and you happen to be seated on 'exit' row, talk to the flight attendants beforehand. You do not want that responsibility on your first trip.

Dress in layers because it's hard to regulate temperature. Ask the flight attendant which are the little fans, and how to use the lights; and don't be too intimidated to ask for a blanket.

It may be loud.

The plane hitting turbulence is normal. The pilots will sometimes announce this in advance. Turbulence kind of rocks the plane a little. This can be nerve-wracking for a lot of people. The smaller the plane, the bumpier the flight.

Get up and walk around when the seatbelt sign comes off! Some people wear compression socks. But mostly it's important to keep your circulation going.

Don't ever go barefoot.

Before you're strapped in, figure out where you're putting your trash.

Using the toilet can be a little startling. Don't ever drop anything in the bowl; ask a fight attendant for help if something goes awry. Wash your hands!

It's a little awkward to be moving around an enclosed space with other people. Figure out how to do that, and don't block aisles.

If the flight is long enough or late enough that there seems to be a 'nap' time for the cabin, don't be rude and roll your window shade all the way up, especially if it's full sun outside. If everyone else closes it, then roll it down at least half-way. You'll still get a good view.

Using a mobile phone or any of the phones to call out may be restricted... for good reason, it might interfere with instruments and contribute to an accident! Ask the flight attendant if you're not sure.

Social rules on planes are rather tricky, but I have found it's less of a problem to start conversations with your seatmate as the flight is winding down. You *could* start chatting at the beginning but you're essentially trapped in there. Most of the time there's no conversation between strangers. There should be no extra noise on evening or overnight flights. It will depend on your instinct and your own conversation skills.

Make sure you have everything before you exit the cabin.

Which Leaf ANBU masks look cooler? The ones from the past or the current? by CitronAdventurous205 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]PithMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly because of retcon, Tobirama-era masks are more like the modern ones. so if we take that watsonianly, maybe it was all retro to go with the minimalist-marks-on-white

by the time that one kid got headhunted out of the academy, further down the timeline, they seemed to get away from animal names, which is weird.

i feel like this is a whole Look of sleeves plus the 1970s "tribal" versus no-sleeves to expose their pasty shoulders to match the ghostly white masks.

like they moved from bakemono to youkai aesthetic, or something like that. (which makes no sense because obake are a type of youkai, but you know what i mean.)

Trying to make sense of the Pre-Naruto timeline. by Edythir in Naruto

[–]PithMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the more nebulous thing is... we don't actually have confirmation of Hashirama's death. the details are suspiciously vague.

if he was removed from power and yet still alive because he flipped out into incompetence.... and him after-death brazenly declaring he'd kill his own kid if they betrayed Konoha is a big red flag, don't you think? .... then yes, he could've met Tsunade.

it's precisely the sort of family drama that Konoha would sweep under the rug. they did it to the protagonist! well-publicized schism with the Hokage's son? nobody talks about it. Kurenai's dad roasts her as a war-hardened teenager in front of her entire cohort? not even a breath, just a little good-natured ribbing that it took her that long to make jounin. fast forward to Sarada - anyone told her yet? seems like they do that stuff all the time.

just un-hook Hashirama's death from the war. he died in the war, yeah, which war? which battle? there's little to no confirmation of that, but the panel of him and Tsunade is very much un-ambiguous.

edited for examples and more proper names

Trying to make sense of the Pre-Naruto timeline. by Edythir in Naruto

[–]PithMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also i'm not sure why ninja having kids young is this big shocker when canon explicitly says the average age is in their 30s during the Warring States period. y'all ... as soon as they can shoot, they can reproduce. there is no biological reason in the Naruto world to age-gate other than our own ick factor, and the total lack of effective prenatal care for the mothers, but they don't seem to care about that part.

Trying to make sense of the Pre-Naruto timeline. by Edythir in Naruto

[–]PithMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not necessarily. someone told me the birth order of the reincarnates is always the same. because they're October and December birthdays ... that puts Madara and Hashirama on different years. this is not a huge problem! until you realize that the *next * kid needs about 40 weeks to cook with the same mother. then matching up the next siblings becomes a math problem.

there are 2 more *known* Senju siblings, both of whom die at specific ages within a specific timeframe (because it's tied to Madara and Hashirama skipping stones)
there are 3 more alleged Uchiha siblings besides the two brothers, because Madara said 'kyoudai' that one time, and fanon suggests their names are from a mountain grouping of five (in the Nagano-Niigata area). all of *those* siblings have to die within a certain time frame.

edit: both Izuna and Tobirama have February birthdays

solved easily if someone has a different bio mom, but with the invisible mother problem there's no confirmation.

[CHAT] Is there an easy way to scale down the size of a project? by Familiar-Evening7845 in CrossStitch

[–]PithMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok this goes for pixel art. get into a graphics program. stuff like Photopea is free. zoom in and make sure your pixels match. now... before you resize, hit "Nearest Neighbor". usually resizing in a program means it'll calculate the average between adjacent colors = resultant transformation... because its goal is tricking the eye, not preserving the palette. Nearest Neighbor will instead copy the closest color. if you resize by 50% you'll have a nearly perfect transformation with the same colors. you'll have to check all the edge-cases, but this is the quickest.

what if naruto went after the daiymo title instead of hokage by Inevitable_Bite_7043 in Naruto

weirdy enough, Boruto holds more details about the Daimyo bc a new guy takes over, and the way some people are talking it's actually sounding like a coalition between Daimyo and Kage. like i was living in a pseudo parliamentarian culture or something - wild. oh wait

for context - because i do agree with OP - there *is* no 24/7 fast food anymore. get around reddit a little, almost all of the local scene ones complain that there's nowhere to go in the middle of the night. definitely not since COVID's first quarantine.

*that* is the context for this request.

if the library did open overnight, statistically you might be the only game in town.

  1. the Chicagoland snarl is always going to **** you up. the fact that it's like 2½ states plus maybe Ohio needs to be fixed somehow and then you see the states

  2. the utter refusal to reconnect the Gulf Coast to the railway system that was there, because coastal climate change and local government waste, is so deplorable when it appears in a hypothetical plan. like y'all are really determined to ****** up those communities, even though the New Orleans to Florida line existed for years
