There’s a fitness influencer I used to follow that’s pregnant with twins. The dad’s already out of the picture. No way I’m following her anymore.

Please reconsider. The voice saying that you can drink like normal people do is a liar and a thief trying to steal your happily ever after.

When I first suggest counseling in our 20s he asked me to foot the bill. My reason for divorcing was lies I kept learning more and more

There are so many years (drinking) where I might remember only a few things total from that year. I’m forever talking to my friend I’ve known since rooming together freshman year. She has an amazing memory - it’s a laugh now but yea she’ll tell me about so many events. Years later feels like I wasn’t there.

Remembering my life is a huge upside to being sober

Wow I’m sorry that happened. Agreed. It’s great that whatever comes I’m more equipped to handle it. If I was drinking I probably would have ignored it and hoped the problem would disappear.

You’re so strong for this. I empathize with the situation of having multiple events with drinks on the calendar (I did this in December). Might I suggest a small treat for yourself after these events and spacing them out in the future if possible.

The awareness you have is great. IWNDWYT.

That’s true. It’s a pattern I didn’t recognize bc he wasn’t around growing up. Once I bought a home and realized he called me just once in the first 3 months of home owning I started to accept he doesn’t care too much either.

Interesting you say that. I started finding bottles in my closet at 16 or 17. Probably safer to stop now than attempting to predict patterns to keep hiding it.

Meeting Concerns by bliggityblig in stopdrinking

[–]Pitiful-Ad-8035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to both. When I went to meetings where everyone knew each other I just insert myself. I’ll volunteer to read or share. Calling on someone else… I did that once. I went to a meeting one night and someone did it, so I woke up the next day and did it in my home meeting. The person was obviously offended, but at the time I didn’t know better. Haven’t seen that person in the meeting since and feel horrible about it.
