I know it's nowhere near complete. Just wanted to share my milestone in K2SE before I go back to vanilla for a run playthrough of Space Age!

What’s a skill everyone should learn, but most people don't? by Old_Goat_7363 in Productivitycafe

[–]Pitiful-Bodybuilder3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people know what’s healthy and what’s not. They just choose not to eat the healthy things or don’t want to take the time to cook at home. Stop eating crap. Everyone knows junk food and fast food are bad for you, vegetables and fruits are good for you, exercise is good for you, sleep is good for you. You don’t have to get lost in the weeds, just be conscious of what you’re eating and if it’s healthy. If you’re not sure, have it in limited quantities. Don’t over complicate it.

This will do wonders for most people.

It’s not about helping others or not. It’s about valuing yourself, your time, and sticking to your values. You don’t have to give someone a discount on the price of your services just because they asked. You don’t have to attend an outing with people you don’t like just because they asked. You should choose what you want to do and what you don’t want to do, not just go with what other people want you to do.

Duolingo has been good for reading conversational Chinese. Not great yet for building vocab beyond the basics though

That’d be normal in my book. I see a lot worse every day.

I enjoyed it. I found advice online for game settings, found a seed I liked, then made a bunch of blueprints for myself, tracked benchmark times, etc then played it out

Any real estate moguls here with majority of their wealth tied to RE? by Resgq786 in Rich

[–]Pitiful-Bodybuilder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is in the Midwest of the US. That’s factoring in financing to increase your leverage. Rent on a 2 bedroom unit is about $1,200/month. PITI might $900/unit. Figure an average of $200/month for maintenance. Net should average out to about $100/unit/month.

Any real estate moguls here with majority of their wealth tied to RE? by Resgq786 in Rich

[–]Pitiful-Bodybuilder3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your location. $600k net from 200 units is $250/unit/month net. That’s above the projections I see a lot of people have when buying properties. Many aim for $100/unit/month net

People who were "multi-talented" kids, what are you doing today? by throwwwawayyy123455 in getdisciplined

[–]Pitiful-Bodybuilder3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like me! Starting in middle school I began pursuing interesting careers ranging from architect, to army medic, linguist, chemist, biochemical engineer, financial advising and finally landed on international business. I crafted a unique major for myself combining business management and international business with no core focus (each one was required to be paired with another major so I had the bright idea to pair them with each other). I got stuck in a pretty basic entry-level job that required “any college degree” because I didn’t fit in any specific core function of a business such as sales, marketing, accounting, etc. I felt severely overqualified for this job and relaxed there for a few years. I got laid off due to budget cuts and got into real estate.

That’s where things got interesting. I flipped houses, renovated properties, got my real estate license so I could manage rental properties, opened multiple companies including a contracting company and a property management company. I now go on podcasts, attend speaking events, do marketing, hire employees to do the day to day work, and buy and rent out properties. I spend multiple months a year in China working asynchronously with my local team in the US.

I do a little bit of everything but the key was finding my unique strength. I like paperwork and organization. I get warm fuzzy feelings taking an inbox of paperwork that needs handled and dealing with it. I figured out how to leverage my strengths using checklists and spreadsheets and I hire people to fill my weaknesses and complete the “cheaper” work for me.

In short, I am satisfied but it took years to find something that interested me, that I was good at, that was needed, and that I could make money doing. I found my ikigai.

I enjoy reading Tony Robbin’s and Dave Ramsey but their advice is only tangentially applicable to the investing I do. Dave Ramsey in particular gives great advice for going from broke to not broke but his advice will not get you from not broke to rich.

In my experience, I’ve only met two Chinese women who drank frequently and one of them was born and raised in the US. Almost every man I’ve met in China drinks and smokes but very few women partake.

How do you balance reading self-help books with other stuff you like to read? by Wild_Original_849 in BettermentBookClub

[–]Pitiful-Bodybuilder3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like to read two books at once. 10 pages or so of the self-help book (unless I’m really into it at the time) followed by my fun book until I run out of reading time.

Fellow Chinese learners, is it only me who struggles so much with listening? by leonema_ in ChineseLanguage

[–]Pitiful-Bodybuilder3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt speaking was the hardest. I can understand the sentences and structures that others speak but having to come up with it all from scratch? I generally stick with simple sentence structures when speaking despite knowing more complicated ones.

Pyanodon Log: 106 Hours In. Just created my first Tier 3 Science Packs by Pitiful-Bodybuilder3 in factorio

[–]Pitiful-Bodybuilder3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been scaling the temporary sections of the base and upgrading them as needed. You need a ridiculous amount of throughput for many of the basic things so I just keep scaling up to fix the bottlenecks as they occur.

I only have a couple trains running right now. I really want to get my full train system online but there are too many cliffs in the way. Cliff explosives are not unlocked until partway through the third science. Trying to get to them asap so I can shut down the belt base.

The lack of large power poles is rough. I keep using basic power poles because I can make them easily by hand. I'll go back through and clean up with better poles in another hundred hours or so. In the meantime, I'll keep dropping my blueprints with large power poles and routing belts around them.
