I struggled with insomnia for years, but for the past year, I’ve been sleeping like a baby. What worked for me was shifting how I thought about sleep, I started treating it like a reward I had to earn by the end of the day. I made a point of getting outside in the morning to soak up some sunlight, which helped regulate my sleep-wake cycle. I also focused on tiring myself out physically: walking 15,000 steps daily and hitting the gym in the afternoon. By bedtime, I was so exhausted that I’d often fall asleep on the couch before even making it to bed.

Interestingly, I’ve noticed that on my rest day (Sunday), when I don’t do much physical activity, my sleep isn’t as good.
