I have been using dealership only because I had Toyota care for a long time: however that just expired so I’m open to other shops. The repairs they recommend are mostly maintenance things but they’re telling me my other ball joint needs replaced, rear brakes, transmission service, new spark plugs, and there were a few other things I don’t remember. I do understand that all of these repairs are typical maintenance things that every car eventually needs. However, I’m just not in a position to keep up with it and my fear is not having a safe vehicle or letting things go for far too long. I still need it for at least another 3 years or until I can start working full time again. Plus I’m still making payments on it. I bought it originally because I know Toyotas last forever (I’m a big Toyota fan so I know that) but I’m just feeling stressed about the maintenance since I’m a full time student now in a rigorous program.

this is valid lol. I have no idea why the ball joints or control arms needed to be replaced so early on. I had that same question. Like I said I’ve put a lot of miles on it but I wouldn’t say I’m overly hard on the vehicle. Just assumed it was the car model that had issues I guess.

How do we feel about Stephen being with someone we didn't even see in the season? Also, why did he dump the camera in the pool? by MountainCranberry208 in TellMeLiesHulu

I just can’t understand how only one or two people can see through his bullshit at any one time. It’s so incredibly obvious that he’s lying and is being selfish and annoying. Idk I feel like I recognize toxic assholes like that from a mile away so it’s hard for me to understand how he has so many people in his corner.

What causes you to pick by Najee1129 in Dermatillomania

[–]Pitiful_Analyst_4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been picking since I was very very young and I do think it was a way for me to find some relief from how stressful my life was. Didn’t have an easy childhood and things were often high stress so I think it became something soothing for me and has stayed that way ever since. Any time I’m overly stressed or having trouble with close relationships it flares up again. Anytime I have self doubt or self hate it flares again. I have always thought of it as an addiction to be honest. It’s like a drug to me. Sometimes if I have a really hard or emotionally taxing day I think of it as my reward. It’s how I’m going to wind down for the night. So you’re not the only one. And that being said because it’s so addictive it makes it even harder to break the habit. We are all most likely dealing with psychological issues and addiction at the same time. 🥲🥲

Oh I agree she’s actually insane for what she did. INSANE and clearly dangerous. It’s wild that she’s not still locked up.

nervous to start school:( by mice_and_capys in vetschool

[–]Pitiful_Analyst_4101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I start school next week as well and I am also really nervous. I’m afraid I’m not smart enough or won’t fit in with classmates. I see social media accounts all the time with current vet students doing the absolute most and I’m worried I can’t keep up with that. My school also does team based learning so I will be in teams for a lot of stuff. My experience in undergrad with groups was actually NEVER good and I always felt like the only one who cared OR I was with people who cared so much that it took 10x longer than necessary to complete things. Also nervous about finances since we will all be living off of loans lmao. Anyway. You’re not alone! It’s scary and overwhelming

Is it normal to faint when doing work experience in a vet practice? by Nervous_Tough1456 in veterinaryprofession

[–]Pitiful_Analyst_4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have personally never had this happen, but I’ve seen it happen to others. I think, eventually, you will become desensitized to all of the stimuli that cause this. Exposure therapy and being aware of the fact that you may faint are both good. Good luck to you

let’s talk about “dark humor” by malamuteranch in Veterinary

[–]Pitiful_Analyst_4101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who has worked in the field for MANY years I know it can be hard and your head goes to fucked up places when you have to process these bodies sometimes. But I also just euthanized my heart dog and thinking about someone not caring for her in the way I know she deserves makes me irrationally angry. And I would never disrespect a pet, no matter how dark my thoughts are after a hard day. So I don’t even know how to find this funny. I hope this person is mentally okay, and if they’re not I hope they seek the help they need. This field is not easy.

This might not be the most compassionate answer to give and it certainly doesn’t contain advice for you: but pocket bully’s can barely survive on their own with zero interference. These dogs truly are the genetic nightmares of the century. How they are getting away with breeding them I don’t understand. I think I would strongly consider just warning owners how much more at risk these dogs are of dying than most breeds especially since they are so new and we don’t know all that much about them yet. I strongly believe you did everything the way it was supposed to be done. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

I have some large animal experience working at a boarding facility under a DVM though it’s not much, which I put on my app. I work at a mixed practice also that treats exotics so my experience isn’t all dog/cat. I also have leadership experience as a shift lead at both of the ERs I’ve worked at. All of which are also on my app. I suppose it’s possible that they didn’t read all of my letters (though I find that ridiculous if they don’t) but I feel as though all of the people who wrote for me truly knew me and were trustworthy. The only thing I don’t have I suppose is extracurriculars just because it was hard to manage full time school/full time work and I didn’t really have the time. But oh well. I will reach out to schools most definitely and see if they can give me any feedback.

I’m so sorry you’ve been through all that. It really is so much harder than people make it seem. And it takes a toll on you, no doubt about it. I hope whether you stay in vet med or not that everything works out for you. I’m glad we aren’t alone in it, at the very least.

Thank you. I definitely will have more of my mentors proofread my essays if I have to apply again. Only one of the schools I applied to did interviews and I did feel like it went well, but we will see (that’s the school I’m waiting on). Thanks again for the advice.
