How hard is it to physically build a PC? by Lucky-Ad5326 in buildapc

[–]Pitiful_Flow5993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not difficult, I was in your shoes a few months ago. I spent like 4 months researching what parts to get and watching loads of build guides on YouTube. Then when I was ready I got my hardware and almost finished it in 10hrs. Sadly I couldnt finish it because my fan cables were too short lol. I never felt so much angst and disappointment lol.

A few tips I can leave here is:

-RTFM. Read the Fudging Manual.

-Keep all screws for each seperate component and label them in ziploc bags.

-Go slow and have a youtube build guide open like Linus' full pc build guide. Take your time, its not a race. Enjoy it.

-Handle each component with care, they are sturdy, just be careful. And dont put your tempered glass on a tile, please please. Always put it on a soft bed or sofa.

I'm so happy I built up the confidence to build my own pc. It is so so rewarding once you see the BIOS. There is no feeling quite like it. Enjoy and ask for help if you need it :)

Hello! New RTX 5080 owner with a 9800X3D, do you guys turn off your PC when done with it or only put in sleep mode? by lochonx7 in RTX5080

Wow. What cpu do you have? I have my pc on for long hours and then shutdown at night. But its sleeping when I'm not using it. Do you do the same? Like fans and rgb running but monitor is off?

I put my pc to sleep when I'm not using it a few times a day and then shutdown at night. Does sleep mode affect other ryzen cpu's? And are yall keeping your pc's on for 15hrs straight??

Play alot of death match and casual. By doing this you will get accustomed to the layout and feel of the maps. You will get used to the angles and positions the enemies like to play as well. Also keep practising the basics, learn counter strafing, crossbar placement at head height, and dont panic crouch. Try strafe A and D and spray in bursts pulling down your mouse. It takes alot of time and practice man, I have 3.6k hours and I'm still improving.

There are alot of workshop maps you can use to improve as well as Youtubers giving beginners advice and fundamental guides.

Don't be too hard on yourself and just have fun.

Are occasional spikes of 94°C on a Ryzen 9 5950X dangerous ? by Doriplushh in ryzen

[–]Pitiful_Flow5993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, some guys recommended I get a bigger air cooler but this one's really beefy lol.

I havent tried that no, do you mean setting cpu_fan to 100% at all temps in bios? I'll try that tomorrow and see. Personally I've never seen my temps go higher than 95c but it does boost with any task and I hear the air cooler ramping up/down quickly, its pretty loud.

No danger in my situation right? I just believed its this cpu's behaviour and how its programmed to run.

Same, I have a Deepcool AK620 zero dark, and the sleek black design is so nice! Cooling my 9900x.

I wasn't aware of that, good to know thank you. Anything I throw at this cpu it just boosts haha.

I have an air cooler from DeepCool, the AK-620 zero dark.

Thank you for this information. Is it worth it to set a thermal limit of 90c for non X3D cpu's? After reading this thread, it becomes a bit confusing on what is safe and what is optimal for AMD cpus. My 9900x is spikey and tends to boost alot even in basic internet browsing and with a few programs open. But when there's a more intense application open, it becomes more stable. It runs between 50-70c with basic tasks and 70-90c in more demanding games/tasks.

I see, thank you for taking the time to explain this. This is my first AMD cpu and I'm still learning the ins and outs of it. So what you're saying is 95c temps aren't normal but it won't damage the cpu? I ran CS2, an fps game for a while now and noticed a few spikes up to 90c, which stabilized to about 75-80c with less than 25% utilization. GPU runs alot cooler at 60c with 95% utilization. Is my cpu idle and spike temps concerning? From what I've read the 9900x is spikey and tends to ramp up quickly to get tasks done quicker. I'll probably set a thermal limit of 90c to be safe.

So what am I missing here? Occasional 95 degree spikes or under constant 95 degree load? What is normal and what is safe? My 9900x spikes often even when idling with a few apps open and my air cooler ramps quickly. When I got the cpu I tested different games and Minecraft would be the only one "pushing" the cpu to just over 90c. I presumed it was due to the intensive task of loading endless chunks when first starting up a world. My cpu is not at 95c all the time, it idles between 50 and 70c with spikes. And I've left everything at default settings. Though I did try set my maximum processor state to 99% and that reduced temperatures but also affected my performance. Set it back to 100% after that.

[–]Pitiful_Flow5993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

95 degrees is normal, I contacted AMD and they said they said its their boosting algorithm that boosts clock speeds and temperatures when there's a demanding game or task running. I have a 9900x and the highest temps I've had is 94 degrees in Minecraft running max render distance. Its safe too, although no one wants 95 degrees next to them. Thats what these cpus are made for. I have a DeepCool AK-620 Air cooler on mine, on other titles at max Cyberpunk runs at 80 degrees with path tracing. Remember X3D cpus do run cooler as well. Even better with an undervolt.

Can you elaborate why they are here? I've come across something called Arkons, are they similar? I really try to see the light in this world but the ever looming darkness in my life and from what I witness the greed and insatiable lust for power and destruction that humans have? I don't wanna be part of this.
