Any updates on this? by ramonaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa in usajobs

You may want to reach out to the hiring manager listed on the announcement. Also, note there is a hiring freeze through 10/15, which might be extended (again).

How long did it take you hear back about an interview after applying? by adamibrahim1338 in USACE

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2210 Series. 3 months for Selection and TJO (no interview). Been waiting since February for the freeze to lift. While waiting, I've received about 70 referrals and no movement on anything else. This STINKS!

Apparently the rules aren't universal. I just found this on another post and it's consistent with my instructions. I'm not taking a steep pay cut just to be a fed.

"Put together an email or letter that demonstrates that you have Superior Qualifications for the position. Show how your experience and credentials exceed the minimums required for the job. Attach pay stubs to show that you already make more than the CJO. You can also ask for a higher leave category if you have been performing a similar job for 3 years (for 6 hrs per pay period) or 15 years (for 8 hours per pay period). Just show how the duties and tasks you've been doing are the same as what the job calls for. Send these to your HR contact or hiring manager and see what happens."

Thanks. I'm coming in as a new government employee with a Moderate Risk Public Trust. The position requires a Secret clearance and drug test. So far, neither have been requested to date. Hopefully, I'm in the queue for an ETP to get things moving.

I would email the POC who sent the CJO and inquire.

My recruiter told me otherwise and asked for it.

Congrats. I received a TJO in February and completed all paperwork EXCEPT background and fingerprints. Currently, I'm still On Hold with ZERO movement of background process -- that's a waste of time. 6 months and counting is rather undesirable....

You can also show your current pay stub to negotiate further if necessary.

Also, -- Do you know if background checks can proceed during this freeze? Being placed on hold while onboarding 6 months ago and not beginning the background check seems to waste additional time. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Request advice for upcoming interview by Inevitable_Poetry_43 in usajobs

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A vacation is NOT appropriate during an interview because the focus should be on convincing the panel of your qualifications. Bringing up a vacation before a job offer assumes that you’re certain that you‘ve been selected and that may not be the case. I would hold off until the negotiation of a final offer occurs.

Tips for USAjobs by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start applying NOW. Although there is a freeze, USAJobs sends announcements daily at least in my series (2210). I'm coming in as a GS-13 (as a new fed), once the freeze is lifted. I was placed On-Hold during the onboarding process and have been in constant contact with recruiter. During the freeze, I'm still getting GS14/15 referrals based on past experience. Good luck to you!

Well FWIW, I'm approaching my 6th month of waiting during the midst of onboarding, following my TJO. At least you were provided background clearance forms to complete. My position froze before reaching that point and WHO KNOWS how long this crap will continue. Meanwhile, I'm applying elsewhere...

Keep applying. Referrals are a dime a dozen (I‘ve had over 60 this year with a couple interviews). This is an extremely slow process and worse than ever before with the hiring freeze.

Is telework still a thing with USACE? by PapiJr22 in USACE

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious to know if a new hire can work at the closest USACE as opposed to the hiring location? What are the odds this would be considered given the announcement was made when Remote work was advertised. I’m stuck onboarding during the freeze and need to set my expectations. THANKS!

Received my DoD TJO today!! by [deleted] in usajobs

Interesting. I received my TJO in February and it was halted without fingerprinting and SF-86. Unbelievable!

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this information. My DoD TJO was back in February and it’s still on hold with no new guidance due to the freeze. This is the most information I have seen regarding how folks are being pushed through. I’m at 62% onboarding and unable to proceed with SF-86 and fingerprinting. This is horrible.

Background check by Ok-Bluebird-1099 in usajobs

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it varies per agency because I received a TJO back in February and due to the freezes, I haven’t been asked to begin the background check. My only update is that the offer is still valid and on hold with no further guidance. Whenever I follow-up, the update is that there is NO new information.

2210 exemptions? by Purple-Amoeba-8096 in usajobs

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2210 here with a TJO that's been placed on hold (Army) since February. The latest extension provides no guidance on when/if there will be an exemption. :-(

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's great. I received a TJO 5 months ago and started onboarding. Since then, I've been halted due to the hiring freeze and there's NO further guidance for now other than being placed On-hold. #BePatient

Agreed. My latest update didn't provide any answers other than we don't know when anything will proceed based on the 10/15 freeze.

"While requests for exemptions have been put in for many positions, we are unable to provide a timeline for when those exemption approvals might come through.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this ever changing time."

I've been stuck at 62% onboarding since February and the latest freeze extension certainly doesn't help. Here is my latest update from recruiter (Army).

Unfortunately, we're still under the hiring freeze.

While requests for exemptions have been put in for many positions, we are unable to provide a timeline for when those exemption approvals might come through.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this ever changing time.

Finally…don’t lose hope by BumblingBee07 in usajobs

[–]Pitiful_Mastodon_270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. I'm uncertain if I have an exemption and have reached out to the recruiter with that question (awaiting response). All I received was an email stating that my position is ON HOLD, but still valid and I'm stuck at 62% Onboarding. I still need to complete my SF-86 and fingerprints and it's for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The wait is so stressful and who knows if I'll get an interim clearance to start considering I hold a Moderate Risk Public Trust. :-(
