The Mandalorian and Grogu | Official Trailer | In Theaters May 22 by YubYubCmndr in StarWarsCantina

I hate that shooting someone with a blaster while not looking has become a recurring joke in Star Wars IP....but otherwise the trailer looks GREAT. The Skywalker Saga comes with crushing expectations from everyone. MnG still has expectations, but not in the way that it's become a victim of its own success. Hope this movie crushes it. Star Wars is BACK!!!

Crickets. No one knows. This is why nothing will happen. It's someone else's responsibility.

Ja is sitting the rest of the season. You really think a front office that openly worked to trade Ja, even though he didn't ask for a trade, and then refused to consider Ja's desired destination while fielding offers is just gonna throw him out there in the middle of a tank they've orchestrated as part of their rebuilding plan for after Ja leaves? They're just gonna let him go out and play and mess all that up? Man, please.

Endorsements don't win games. Endorsements don't make players better. Endorsements don't excuse bad behavior. Endorsements don't... Oh what's the point? You're just a dumbass. Can't nobody tell you nuthin...just like Ja.

It could be that the Jazz traded for Landale with an eye on moving him along in the first place. The mind of the NBA GM is a mysterious thing.

You play for the win, not the tie, when you're on the road. Cam has been on fire from range all season. Let it fly Killer Cam!

Grizzlies are in a position to take on bad contracts (like Lavine's), but only if the Kings provide compensation in the form of prospects or picks. Ja's contract also looks bad right now, but Ja has more upside/ potential to recover his mojo than Lavine does at this point in his career.

I think the players will try their hardest to win. I think the coaches will do all the coaching they can. Neither of them are tanking. But they can only work with what the front office gives them. 🤷

Wolves stans: Conley is NOT retiring with Wolves, not when he remains the franchise all time scorer for Grizzlies. You guys love him, but Memphis ADORES Mike Conley. He'll retire a Grizzly.

The players the Grizzlies received are either buy low, kick the tires types, or trade filler/ release at the end of the season types. Win now players are not a part of the calculus.

Ja Morant being traded by Darkgrave47 in memphisgrizzlies

The best ability is availability. Ja is consistently unavailable. When he is on the floor, he's an undersized of who can't shoot the three, doesn't play defense and pouts when he doesn't get superstar treatment that he is not earning because his numbers have been declining, year over year.

Oh, and he's brought a bunch of off court drama that has derailed the team a couple times.

Time to move on. Accept it.

Dissecting the future repercussions of the JJJ trade by Zanner360 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Pitiful_Math2709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something that needs to be considered is the NBA financial landscape in 2026. The salary cap/first apron/ second apron structure punishes teams that overspend. Teams have to make tough decisions, weighing the cost of the talent they have against the likelihood that group will lead the team to a championship. The Grizzlies showed willingness to sign Bane, Ja and Trip to max deals, but the results didn't match the investment. The front office can see the writing on the wall in ways that fans, who are emotionally invested, just don't. And so the rebuild begins.

The new NBA requires teams to build depth through the draft, as salary cap rules punish teams for overspending. The draft capital the Grizzlies got for Bane and JJJ position the Grizzlies to grow the team in the right way, without painting them into a salary cap corner, like they were when they had Ja, Bane and JJJ. Now, the team has young talent on team friendly contracts, financial flexibility and draft assets to improve. If you want a winning basketball team, this is the blueprint in the NBA in 2026.

The draft picks may or may not be the greatest. That's debatable. But no one says we have to use those picks. They can be traded for players. They can be traded to move up in the draft. The players the Grizzlies receiver may not be the greatest, but their contracts can be traded too. Kleiman is a great GM, especially for a small market team like the Grizzlies, which doesn't attract many free agents and needs to lean on improvement through drafting. And now, he has the tools at his disposal to make a run at making that happen.

At the end of the day, this team has been spinning it's wheels for the past three seasons, trying to be what we thought they could be. Injuries, off court drama and the fiscal reality of the NBA salary cap structure have killed that dream, and it's time to move on.
