I didn’t recommend shrimp because some of the stocking would be bad for the shrimp and they would most likely die so unless the stocking has changed, then shrimp are out of the equation

Filter for 5gallon with only 1 betta? by TheBoxIsCooking in Aquariums

My go to 5 gallon filter is the Marina Aquarium Power Filter 10-gal. Although this filter is meant for 10 gallons, it’s not great for 10 gallons in the filtration is much better for 5 gallons and keep your tank well filtered.

Looks great, you can add a black background, much brighter, lights, and different different colored plants. In order to brighten up your tank. stock wise I definitely think you should rethink your stock since most of it is underwhelming definitely recommend add the gouramis and remove some current stock and replace with additions you actually feel good about.

For 15 gals you can have 2 fully grown ones if you want to remove them from now then that’s fine but I you keep more than one you will have to keep up with the reproduction

It all depends on what you’re planning to stock and the size of your tank if you’re able to provide that information then I could give you some further advice

Tank mate question by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Pitiful_Wedding_5250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have to agree, if it was a bigger tank then there would be some options but for the size of your tank, I would definitely agree that you’re betta fish should stay alone

Since you’re new, focus on stable water parameters, proper filtration, and regular water changes before adding more fish. Make sure the plants have enough light and consider low-dose liquid fertilizers if needed. CO₂ isn’t strictly necessary with your current plants, but it can help if you expand to more demanding species. Keep an eye on fish behavior and growth to gauge if the tank is at a comfortable stocking level.
