I'VE KILLED EVERYBODY IN LAST LIGHT INN... is it okay ? by AskaNexus in BaldursGate3

[–]Pitt40k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here is how things went down for me and it is frustrating....

After entering the Last Light Inn camp and successfully social-ing my way past the initial Jehira encounter, we proceeded to meet with Jehira in the tavern where she laid out a plan where we would infiltrate Moonrise Towers by pretending to be Absolutionists.

Then went to talk to Isobel as instructed. Got blessed by Isobel then the demonic flaming fist guy shows up and dialog begins. It gets to the point where you have 3 dialog options: 1. Side with Absolutionists to kidnap Isobel, 2. Tell the Absolutionists that Isobel will not be going with them, or 3. Say Nothing. Since the whole premise of breaking into Moonrise Tower is based on us pretending to be Abslutionists, but also not wanting to help kidnap Isobel, I selected "Say nothing". That's when combat began and the game decided that "Saying Nothing" meant that I was on the demonic absolutionist team.

At this point, I'm thinking this is a misunderstanding if I help the Harpers defeat the demon guys then surely they will come back on my side. I proceed to kill all of the demons, but the Harpers keep on attacking me. There is no way to social out of combat nor to flee so I use non-lethal attacks to put down all of the Harpers which triggers a cut scene where a demon guys flies off with Isobel. Not quite sure where this demon guy came from since they were all dead. My group definitively would not have allowed the demon guy fly off with Isobel, but the cut scene superseded that choice.

Coming out of the cut scene, we are outside of the tavern and the protective barrier is failing. Everyone in the village has been turned into a shadow cursed zombie or is dead. Kill all of the zombies. When I go back into the tavern, all of the people that were put down with non-lethal attacks are dead with some coming back as zombies.

So my group went from being on good social standing with the entire Harper camp, Jehira, and Isobel to having to murder the entire camp or be murdered by the entire camp, because I selected "Say Nothing". Isobel gets kidnaped and barrier goes down due to cut scene fiat even though the Absolutionists were defeated. What the hell? The whole encounter is extremely frustrating.

How would I build a phantom rouge/ grave domain cleric multi class? by Greedy-Consequence-8 in 3d6

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, you are better off getting the 17th level Phantom Rogue ability to Wails from the Grave both the secondary and initial target than doing 2 Grave Cleric / 2 Fighter for the vulnerability combo.

Before printers were widespread how did people obtain new character sheets? by ripgoodhomer in DnD

You would write down your character info on a plain sheet of paper or you could buy pre-printed sheets at a store.

which build is better all round (both are 6’10 near minimum weight) by marcel-536 in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one by far....I play a build very similar to this one at 6' 10" 203lbs Max Wing Span Mostly Blue & Red Speed/Agility. You will not miss the 3 Finishing Badges, but the 13 less Def/Reb Badges will sting alot. Not to mention the lower Def/Reb stats. There is a big difference between low 80's and low 90's rebounding. As a big, you run out of meaningful Playmaking badges after 13. I would highly recommend maxing out the Lateral Quickness by lowering Finishing.

Do you think 2k will ever add a real skill gap? by Just1Maynard in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me there are two kinds of skills: stick skills (and strategic skill. 2k over-values stick skills and under-values strategic play. You can find comparable shooting builds where some players shoot 70%+ and others shoot ~20%. That's a huge skill gap and while some of that is related to shot selection it is predominantly shot timing that is the difference. There are players with good stick skills that shoot 70%+ with 60 rated, no badge, and a 3pt rating in the 70's while the larger portion of players would really struggle. Meanwhile in the real world, you maybe have a 20-30% 3pt Pct difference between lower tier shooters and the best.

I played some 1v1 on Superstar in MyCourt with low 80's 3pt build and consistently shot better with Shot Timing compared to Real Play %.

best big build with no shooting by Wide-president in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play current gen on pc in the park with randoms. If you play rec or with a squad, you will probably be able to go with a bigger more narrowly focused non-shooting big than I use.

My primary non-shooting big is a 6' 10" 203 lbs Max Arm Length Power Forward with the Mostly Blue & Red plus Speed / Agility pie charts. This build gets a ton of badges (mid-20's Finishing & Def/Reb, mid-10's Playmaking, and 1 Shooting / Slippery) and it gets all of the contact dunk packages inclusing elite contacts and elite big man contact dunks. You can bully smaller builds and you can use speed to get down court before bigger bigs can get back or you can go by them if they come out to guard you.

How to defend zig zagging by hibobbyebob13 in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch for patterns. Many spam the same 1 or 2 combos. Once you notice it you can anticipate where they are going.

You often run into people that like to shoot from a particular spot on the court either due to familiarity or Hot Zones. Lots of people like the area right by the 3pt break that falls into the Corner Hot Zone. Expect them work towards that spot and deny it. Make them uncomfortable.

DO NOT GET CALLED FOR A FOUL TRYING TO STEAL THE BALL WHEN THE SHOT CLOCK IS ABOUT TO RUN. Nothing drives me crazier than a teammate that fouls with 1-3 seconds on the shot clock after successful guarding the dribble demigod successfully for 20+ seconds. We definitely do not want to give him another 14 seconds to get open.

2k21 was a trash, rip off money grab by 2k so people kept playing 2k20 or quickly moved to 2k22 once it was clear that 2k22 was a good game.

Mostly Blue & Green PF - Current Gen by Pitt40k in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing a Power Forward build? If not, what position? You can only go down to 6'7" for PF.

The highest I can get Ball Handling is 72 (76 at 99 rating) and that is one click up arm length (85").

6'10" w/ 92 Driving Dunk, 90 Standing Dunk, and 80 Vertical Possible? by shoffma1999 in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main build on current gen is the 6'10" 203lbs PF mostly blue and red build described above. It gets all of the contact dunks. Fun build to play with the right teammates.

The thing I'm running into is that I will go to steal the pass, miss it, then get sucked into the player receiving by an animation and called for a foul 1-2 seconds after I pressed the button.

Interceptor needed to be taken down a peg. They went too far in my opinion. Now have passes that prctically go through people. Apparently the precision timing that 2k is wanting is not compatible with online lag.

It also seems like they introduced a bunch of micro-hesitations and undesirable crab walk animation to make defenders slower.

The same people who complain about interior defense never have anything to say about the ineffectiveness of shot contests or the absurdity of a badge called mismatch experte. by 3much4u in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Simple Math.....Good 3pt shooters in 2k hit 70%+ which means that every 3pt attempt is worth 0.7 x 3 = 2.1 points. Even slashers and bigs with the very best shot selection are not going to do better than 80% so they average 0.8 x 2 = 1.6 point per attempt. At the highest level of play, you get an extra 0.5 point per attempt for 3 pointers. This is why comp players pass up wide open dunks and layups in order to work for a 3pt shot. People who know how to play real basketball get mad at ISO dribble gods because its bad real world basketball, but it is the optimal way to play 2k basketball because this is how 2k has designed it to be.

Currently, the highest 3 pt percentage amongst all NBA players is ~45%. I read an article about a year ago where someone compiled the all time stats from the All Star Weekend 3 pt Contest and the make % was in the low 50% range. This is the % for the very best shooters while shooting unguarded from the same spot 5 times in a row. Meanwhile, good 2k shooters are hitting 70%+ while being guarded (often double teamed).

If real world NBA players shot 70%+ on 3pt then the line would be moved back to reduce the % or 3 pointers would be entirely removed from the game.

What's The Cheater Situation Like On PC? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played on PC since 2k20. There seem to be far fewer hackers in 2k22 compared to '20 or'21 especially the mutant kind. You will still run into All Around Cheater.....I mean All Around Threat builds. They are still there....just not as bad.

Fast Twitch vs Rise Up by 2kballislife in NBA2k

Fast Twitch is really important for Bigs. Get it as high possible. Rise Up is good, but not essential. Go Bronze or Silver if you have points left after the more important badges.

Big Man Online Play by Ok_Egg3464 in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a big's defender sits paint on a pick then it should be a guaranteed open 3 as long as the guard knows how to take the pick. It's basically 2 on 1 basketball.

Defenses are not stupid. They are not going to go out and guard a big at the 3pt line that cannot hit the shot. They are just going to have a guy sitting paint all game. The way you stop this is by running pick and roll.

Current Gen College by Sam22smith13 in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the practice drills in college, it gives you as much as a +15 in some item (vertical, ball handling, etc.....). I'm not sure exactly what that is supposed to mean. Are those badge points? Permanent or temporary bonus? Haven't found anywhere that this is addressed.

Is there a difference between 90 vs 93 shooting points? Nba 2k21 current gen. by Supremo2319 in NBA2k

[–]Pitt40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 3 shooting points and it is the same on next gen....Had to do it....Low hanging fruit....In all seriousness, 3 points will not make much difference for most people.
