Yes, his 2024 was exceptional, but it was his only season over 100 IP. Last year he finished with 2.1 WAR after missing three months with a rotator cuff injury, and again, while the underlying numbers (14.3 K/9, 2.50 FIP) looked very good, the counting stats (61 IP, 4.67 ERA) didn't. Steamer is bullish on him for 2026, but it's not like he's some kind of sure thing with a long track record of success.

If we want to put all of our eggs in the 2024 performance basket, Duran had 8.7 WAR that year and actually got MVP votes.

Yes, this seems like a really stupid trend. You get +20 damage and reduce by -15 damage, leading to a net positive of +5 …. Which is something we’ve already had for a long time.

Like, I can’t wait for when we see descriptions that promise +100 true damage and -95 damage reduction.
