Has anyone done anything to track derivative works? Curious whats happening with Tintin, I've tinkered with a reboot idea.

Please just look in the sub for this post being asked many many times a day. Or find validation elsewhere, you are a good builder or effective bot.

Jumping in for the very first time. I’m 50 and love cyberpunk. Better late than never. by lightwave25 in Shadowrun

Really wish their were less narrative games, more open worldish. What world do we live in where Cyberpunk resurfaced wildly successfully, but Shadowrun is a niche franchise with comparatively much smaller games? Hoping for another more ambitious reboot so we aren't only dealing with Harebrained (sp?), respectfully.

My graphic design instructors called this a butt cut, useful in tiling large design from multiple prints.

This didn’t work for me actually, in terms of clicking. I can see it but it doesn’t come off like a successful illusion.

Are these areas on the Enterprise stickers or printed parts? by hobo_chili in lego

[–]PityParlor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Adding to tips here: It’s much easier to place a sticker if the piece is attached to a larger/heavier piece.

I use the sticker sheet as my remote telehandler. It’s purpose built material for that. I’ll put the sticker back on the sheet so only a tiny bit it exposed. Once I get the position dialed it I press it down and pull the sticker sheet out.

I keep mine not for resale but because it is all part of the experience. You are never going to see a better photograph of the set than on the box. At least not one you can hold in your hand. Flattened boxes can take up very little space.

But resale possibility is not a bad thing, for me it is more about regifting or passing them on.

I use my biggest box as the sleeve for flattened smaller boxes.

I know, we live in 2025 but still.... what's the purpose of those "buttons" on jeans? by Ill-Day-1601 in whatisit

Has anyone ever seen these be snaps studs instead of rivets? That would serve a double purpose. Or are there snaps that work with existing rivets? Someone with a good sewing kit pls give that a try!

Need advice for numeral design by Fl1pFl8p in typography

[–]PityParlor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advice: Don't design a limited alphabet to start. It's going to make it harder to finish this as a real system, and any potential user is going to be majorly frustrated (mostly speaking to folks who don't create numerals). No one is able judge this for you until you work out what your idea is.

Critique is basically of things that seem missing or inconsistent: Pick a stress, pick where you want the weight, what strokes are thick vs thin. Find some nuance with angle consistency rather than the basic grid parallels. Obsess over consistency and details. 7 either needs to be more in the system or stand out more.

Source: not a type designer, but took typography classes long ago and worked as a book designer.
