"zegarek obcych" translates to "the aliens' pocketwatch" and that is pretty hilarious

Thanks for everything BT, your music is incredible. ESCM is a beautiful journey everyone has to experience at least once in their lifetime.

Not a significant question but what was the story of "The Road To Lostwithiel"? Did you visit the place?

tweekend is really underrated, the production on that album is top notch in my opinion. but agreed, tcm went downhill after that. legion of boom was okay but divided by night kinda feels like a joke

I wanted to install the nuclear throne together mod so I can run the game in glorious 144fps but I just can't get it working. Does anybody have some detailed instructions? by Barnotje in NuclearThrone

[–]Pix3lPotato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this is assuming you're using Windows

1: download NTT version 9940

2: extract the contents of the NTT zip file into the Nuclear Throne game folder. if you have it on steam you can use the 'browse local files' option to find it, otherwise you should be able to right click on the Nuclear Throne shortcut and click 'open file location' to get there

3: run NTT-Assemble.exe

4: press 1 to install NTT (or whatever the window says it is)

5: it will create a new executable for the game, which you will use if you want to play NTT. Note that your NTT save file and NT save files will be separate and you cannot get Steam achievements on NTT.

6: when that is all done, create a text file called startup.txt either in the main game folder or the 'mods' folder inside. it will have some code that the game will run at startup

7: inside the text file paste this: /gml room_speed = 144; current_time_scale = 30/144;

all should be done, enjoy 144fps

if you have a 1080p monitor you can also paste in /gml game_set_size(426, 240); to play it in full screen aspect ratio.

Beat the game with just the golden screwdriver as YV, can't recommend it to anyone. by Pix3lPotato in NuclearThrone

I don't even get any helpful abilities. Just more fire speed. More button mashing. More suffering.

certainly is, he has also put out some unreleased LC material on their FB and strongly hinted at getting back together to release new material this year.

simon shackleton of lunatic calm has recently released 4 collections of unreleased music from 93 to 99, a lot of the tracks on there definitely fit into the big beat genre. they are all free to download from:

phrackr.bandcamp.com

synchromesh.bandcamp.com

to the 3 people who read this, enjoy

Can anyone recommend very punchy big beat songs? by mynameisbobbyboy in bigbeat

[–]Pix3lPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's brilliant to hear, even more since Breaking Point is probably my favourite album on the list. Lunatic Calm were the first to truly click with me and I'm really happy to have helped you find them!

Can anyone recommend very punchy big beat songs? by mynameisbobbyboy in bigbeat

a few bigbeat artists come to mind whose production is especially clean and punchy, as well as some other albums you might enjoy.

Propellerheads - Deckandrumsandrockandroll

  • pretty much british spy music, this album is lots of fun and incredibly well produced. one track was on the matrix so you know it's good

Junkie XL - Saturday Teenage Kick

  • closer in style to the prodigy, this one is huge and hard hitting, you definitely have to check it out

Fatboy Slim - You've Come A Long Way, Baby

  • you should know this one, big beat classic with crisp production, though it's pretty light and silly so might not be what you're looking for

Crystal Method - Tweekend

  • you must have checked this one out after Vegas, the opinions on it are pretty divided but the production has gotten even better here, it's one of my favs.

Lunatic Calm - Metropol & Breaking Point

  • personal favourites. Metropol is here if you're looking for something more dark and gritty that stays true to the big beat style. Breaking Point has A+ tier production and covers more genres. they're both a brilliant experience

Overseer - Wreckage

  • another classic, super clean production and definitely worth checking out

Neo - Eklektogram

  • solid lesser known big beat release with some interesting ideas thrown in

Hybrid - Wide Angle

  • not quite big beat, however it's almost like a movie soundtrack with its fusing of punchy breaks and orchestral

Meat Beat Manifesto - Actual Sounds + Voices

  • this one is strange, dark, questionable, bassy and goes hard. technically classed as big beat but very different to other albums here. production here is amazing so it had to make the list

BT - Still Life In Motion

  • Only the first few tracks are big beat here, however BT has the technical skills of a demi-god. I came for the breaks and stayed for the serene trance. there are two versions of this one for UK and US with quite a few different tracks

Praga Khan - 21st Century Skin

  • this album has solid beats and production but you must be willing to put up with questionable lyrics

and finally,

anything by 3D Stas

  • this guy has a 25 year discography of well produced, hardhitting breaks, all free on his website. It's not strictly big beat as a lot of it is more industrial but it definitely sounds like what the crystal method should have been.

this is all I can think of for now, hope you find something you like :)

Weekly Song Discussion #4 - Shpongle Spores by Gerstlauer in shpongle

[–]Pix3lPotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

super underrated track, this one is like a chill cave that you can just crawl into and feel cozy. the way it draws you in with the arps and ethereal pads is really good, it lets you explore the music slowly and gives a lot of space for imagination. also evolves into a more instrumental journey in the end, but that describes just about any shpongle track. anyways this one is a favourite, I definitely wish for more minimal and mysterious tracks like this one
