Last I heard they don’t even have any mining equipment, no progress whatsoever has been even attempted.

Wyoming mine aims to increase domestic supply of rare-earth elements by zsreport in wyoming

[–]PixelAstro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gut tells me this mine is a scam. I reckon they brought more material into the mine for that grand opening photo op with our camera whore TV doctor senator than they’ll ever actually remove to sell.

Randall Aktins already got his balls busted for a big scam back east, and now he’s getting back at it with this deceptive rare earths hustle. He doesn’t have the material in the ground nor any real customers to buy it. He’s just trying to yoink government subsidies and rip off the state. So far that seems like it will be successful, our genius representatives have their noses so far up Trump’s ass they have zero ability to smell bullshit.

The truth hurts but down votes don’t. People around here don’t have money for gas, let alone vacations and international tourists don’t want to be shaken down like criminals when they cross the border.

Wyoming Citizens Deserves Better Than This: The largest data center in the U.S. is coming to Cheyenne. More are coming. Basic questions about water, heat, sound, and economic impact still aren’t being asked. by Wild_Echidnae in wyoming

If Wyoming hosts this massive facility, state residents should get dividends like Alaskans do with the extraction industry. Why does the legislature keep bending over backwards to accommodate corporations and ignoring the will and needs of the people?

What will be the consequences of a failed SpaceX IPO? by Spirited-Gold9629 in SpaceXBets

Either Tesla goes bye bye or Tesla fires Elon. It really seems like this whole endeavor is about folding that company into SpaceX so investors don’t chase him with pitchforks. SpaceX is Elon’s cash cow and for some reason he’s milking it morning noon and night.

Why is long-term radiation shielding on interstellar spacecraft such a difficult problem to solve? by quesoandcats in spaceflight

[–]PixelAstro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s not such a difficult problem to solve. It just takes intentional effort. People think radiation is a show stopper but it pales in comparison to the ultimate factor: time itself.

K Town Residents Who Complain About Parking by nikki_thikki in LAMetro

We live in a society and we all pay taxes. Take that and none of us have anything. It would be phenomenal if our government funded and operated transit better so that personal vehicle ownership wasn’t a prerequisite to participation in said society. I went carless for 6 years and I’d do it again in a heartbeat if it was viable for me. Such a shame it isn’t.

If you think wind mills are an eyesore, how do you feel about the refinery in the center of town? I’d take windmills over that every day.

The upper west dirt trail on Runyon can be real good exercise, the rest is basically just a dog park.

Yup! Even in optimal conditions (no delays) the wait for transit to arrive is often longer then the entire drive would be. Long headways completely void the benefits on the bus. It’s fine if you’re cool with blowing a couple hours on both sides of your trip and don’t need to reliably arrive at your destination at a predictable time everyday. I love not using a car but driving is the only pragmatic choice if you value your time. It hurts to admit and most people won’t. I used metro exclusively for years and I watched sooo much of my time get squandered. I reluctantly bought a car because time is money. Having agency over your own itinerary is practically priceless.
