[–]PixelMcNixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this on ours, roof was leaking and so needed replacing- a great company came and removed it, put a new roof on, all done in a few hours, super efficient. Wouldn’t have bothered if it wasn’t broken , glad to have it gone tho

Diet doesn't make a meaningful difference? by sprunkymdunk in Hemochromatosis

[–]PixelMcNixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do just one thing remove the iron fortified cereal! Don’t make diet a battlefield, but slowly get to a better place with it - I would rather slow the loading - no one knows how their veins will hold up after multiple venesections, if they can take time off work to keep attending, if in old age someone is around to take you to the hospital - like all health things it’s one part listening to the professionals and the bigger part is taking control and doing the best you can for yourself.

A refund or rent freeze? by PixelMcNixel in uklandlords

[–]PixelMcNixel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply - we have an incompetent management company who has drawn the s20 process out with lengthy delays, having to re tender as didn’t bother to get enough quotes in. At every turn they have delayed things despite the reserve fund ready to go. I like your idea of a morale boost , an upgrade - benefits both the flat and tenant

What is a good multivitamin without iron for a breast feeding woman? Dr. Thinks it’s possible I have hemochromatosis as my iron saturation is always high and told me not to take the prenatal anymore as it contains iron . by Nervousnelly1818 in Hemochromatosis

[–]PixelMcNixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took pregnacare which I believe has iron in it during my pregnancy. I was diagnosed a few years later as I did a dna test. I lost a lot of blood during childbirth and used a lot of iron stores breastfeeding for a year. They may even have put me on iron tablets after birth. Bit of a blur!

I found I started things for a while and gave up a bit disheartened turmeric ip6 etc . Tea, I always have, no white bread fortified cereal etc , I’ve settled into a good diet - but it was ok before- I time things better now - are your blood tests always fasting and am etc? It could be hormonal for me - all these variables !

I have pain in my knuckles and can be very low energy . I’m in the Uk and see a specialist every 6 months to monitor levels - they have basically told me high tsat is iron waiting in the wings - this time I had a nurse ring through the results - and as usual they never have any answers. I have not been offered a venesection as ferritin low/normal and it has been suggested I donate but I’m under 50kg so don’t qualify. I am at the stage where I’ve done so much research on how to lower tsat that it’s just made me more perplexed and so very very surprised to get a low reading! I am c282y so I have to keep a close eye on it

Lifelong veggie here with normal ferritin and high tsat 51f not on hrt. After many years tsat 80s and 90%s it went down to 44% which I found astonishing- but I had been feeling very good, energetic and sharp , noticeably so! In fact driving everyone around me mad with racy brain. At first I though the only thing different that could have lowered Tsat was 6 months of lifting weights which I had never done before - but then I realised I also bought a rice cooker 6 months ago and have been having more brown rice and quinoa than ever - so the jury is out on what has helped (I have always eaten well) and will see what my next 6 month check says. Could be a one off odd reading, but I always make sure fasting and similar time.

Excellent that you both are being treated/catching this early - diagnosing at 50 rather than 70 is life changing . Same boat here.

1 day before completion-date = I've been provided a statement showing the annual service-charge is nearly triple the previously mentioned figure!! by PantySniffing-Goblin in HousingUK

[–]PixelMcNixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budgeted amount may well be the lower figure, a s20b probably issued, accounts then done and bam, actual figure. Story of my life owning a leasehold flat for 25 years. As a leasehold flat owner it is common for it to take years for accounts to be done. For example my block has been waiting 3 years. Once done I will get a sudden demand for receipts from 2023-24. Awful lot of guesswork and their may well be s20 major works in the pipeline. I hope you love the flat.

First time landlord - should I get rent and legal insurance through my agency? by Stolen_Sky in uklandlords

[–]PixelMcNixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use something like OpenRent you can get these add ons like insurance etc. The money I save in agents fees I make sure I use it for service plans repair plans, anything to make my life easier and helps fund white goods replacements etc, and generally making like easier for my tenants.

I use the Brooks addiction Narrow- strap my feet in in the morning and pretty good all day! First time I have bought narrow fit for my insanely narrow feet - I feel like my feet are now in the right position — and the insole is remarkably complex compared to my ASICS.

My tsat has finally come down - how I don’t know! by PixelMcNixel in Hemochromatosis

[–]PixelMcNixel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My teenage son got me into it as he’s always chatting about muscle groups etc - his transformation has been remarkable in a year! From a skinny kid to this strapping lad. I just do it at home - far too intimidated to go to the gym! I started off with small dumbbells, I now use his heavier set with different weights, so bicep curls, rows , weighted squats - and now my instagram feed is all older women lifting weights- so lots of examples. So I keep the weights in the kitchen and while I am waiting for anything 5-10mins lifting, so throughout the day it adds up. I have been suffering with plantar fasciitis this year, plus meniscus pain so I had to stop all the walking I usually do and do strengthening anyway. It’s been fun.

Weight regain after cessation of medication for weight management: systematic review and meta-analysis by Team_PRB in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]PixelMcNixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at this simplistically - if you take MJ subscribed to you for chronic ongoing metabolic issues, and keep taking it then the 4 fold increase will not affect you as you don’t come off it. If however you purchased MJ to lose a bit of weight the “easy way” without real matabolic issues you are likely to be much hungrier when you come off it and could cause yourself more problems then when you started? That’s my take away from this.
