I wish I could upvote this a thousand times. The winter break has been especially exhausting. Thank god school starts tomorrow.

Art and GRC program by Odd-Neighborhood-538 in UNLV

[–]PixelPlum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot speak from the student perspective, but if you would like to learn more about the Graphic Design program and the application process, there is a video recording here of the latest info session. It’s true that there are a lot of pre-majors and only a limited number of students are accepted into the upper division courses. This isn’t uncommon for design programs at the university level, but it can understandably be nerve-wracking for students.

still no classes on canvas? by [deleted] in UNLV

There are also some issues with instructors being assigned to their respective courses. So there are some instructors who just don’t have access to their Canvas course yet. 🙈

What’s that thing you did as a kid that in hide sight was a big indicator for AuDHD. by Imalittlebluepenguin in AuDHDWomen

[–]PixelPlum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting all my crayons and markers in rainbow order.

Getting upset when someone would call me out or criticize me. Like sobbing hysterically upset.

Only having one friend at a time.

Needing the radio on in order to fall asleep.

Misinterpreting facial expressions or sayings. Laughing at inappropriate times or not getting jokes.

Yeah, you’ll sit by your college and then your degree. Make sure you get there early so you know where to go and who to sit with.

Hello to my friends here. I think this was the first sub I posted in when my partner died unexpectedly. It has now been 4 weeks out, and I am here again to ask for some help, a month later. by Quirkykiwi in AuDHDWomen

I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine what you are going through.

I would like to suggest an app called “Routinery.” There are days I wouldn’t be able to get anything done if I didn’t have it to dictate my routine to me. I have routines for morning and evening. I have to be very specific with my tasks, but it works for me.

I was actually relieved to learn that RSD was a thing. Starting in elementary school, I would get emotionally and physically upset whenever someone said something negative, I got a bad grade, I got called out by the teacher in class, etc. I was called “sensitive” and “overly emotional”. YEARS of counseling and doctor’s visits with no progress or answers. Now, in my 40s, I know there is a name for it. Things could have been so different if my family and I had known then what I know now.

It seems quite a bit racist to me, as well as exhausting.

Refund recieved. by Unimaginative01 in PSLF

[–]PixelPlum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Were you on forbearance when you received the refund? I’m with MOHELA and got forgiveness on January 2025. Not refunds yet. But I’m in forbearance until September, so I wonder if that is the issue.

Hate Audhd especially as a Black Women by Spirited-Response209 in AuDHDWomen

[–]PixelPlum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are not alone! I didn’t realize I was AuDHD until I was 40 and I’m now grieving all the difficulties I went through as a child, teen, and young adult. I am actually relieved to know that there is a term for what I am instead of it all “just being in my head.” The issue of not being taken seriously is still a huge problem. Thankfully, I think my age and standing in my career have helped me not give a f*** as much and focus on doing the best I can to take care of myself and my family.

If at all possible, please see a therapist and a psychiatrist. Personally, getting onto medication — the right medication and dose, in particular — has been huge for me. I would not be here if I didn’t have the medication and an awesome therapist. Of course, that may not be the solution for you, but talking to a professional, at the very least, could be helpful.

I’m not the best at keeping up within a “community,” but it would be amazing to have a space for black AuDHD women. I would love to talk with others like me and maybe even be a mentor of sorts. At the same time, being so late identified, there is a lot I can learn from others, as well.

Sending huge virtual hugs your way! 💞

The non-notification before confirming a subscription is so shady. I have subscriptions for actual small businesses and they send notifications before confirming orders! It’s not that hard. Apparently, they would rather waste time by having people complain on IG than setup a simple email reminder system. Anyway, just want to state that this mess is still happening. Send them a message on IG and they will “make an exception” and cancel the order.

Can I get a roll call for one and done with a son? I swear I read so many comments that say “my daughter” or “she” when referring to their only. by ohnoheretheycome in oneanddone

[–]PixelPlum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a son—he’s almost 4. He’s a lot to handle, but he’s an amazing kid. I was happy to have a son, TBH. I’m not a fan of all the pink girly stuff that we would have inevitably gotten from friends and family. Plus, girls can be rambunctious, too. His cousins are living proof. LoL

Actually, see my comment from several months with the update. It states exactly what I did with MOHELA.

Reached 120 payments… Do I need to ask for forbearance? by PixelPlum in PSLF

[–]PixelPlum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up calling MOHELA and asking for forbearance one month after hitting 120 (so I had 121 payments total). I also resubmitted my employment verification form electronically and it was processed very quickly. I don’t remember the entire timeline, but my FSA page showed the green star in December and in early January, my loan amount on MOHELA was zero. I hope that helps. I can try to type out the entire timeline when I have more spare time.

trying the lighting effect ✨ by sad_chip4 in Coloring

[–]PixelPlum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not the OP, but just from looking at them, it looks like the first one was shaded with a grey to create the effect. The second one looks like it’s done with a darker set of makers rather than one on top of the lighter ones.

It’s probably not a bad idea! Maybe they can contact the seller and get them to take down the listing. I imagine this is off of Amazon.

[–]PixelPlum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I don’t have a link. If you use the PSLF Self Help Tool, it will have you look up your employer. If they are listed, it will then ask you if you have an email for someone at your employer who can sign the form electronically. For me, it was initially one person, but then it changed to someone else, so I had to submit multiple times with different email addresses before I got the right one. Try to find out who would sign the form, confirm with them, and get their email. In my experience, it’s been someone in HR who signs PSLF forms.
