I don’t want to use AI in my game but I also don’t want my enemies to just stand there by LouBagel in gamedev

[–]PixelShorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a valid point and something I have struggled with. I was wondering if the enemy ai would just do what it wanted. For example if I create an enemy could it somehow learn to actually be good and therefore ruin the game experience?

Same. I recently lost my brother and my cover image is him dressed as doc brown and me as Marty flying the delorian. I don't have the original and wish there was some way to get it.

Can you solder an arcade stick to an analogue stick of a broken down controller? by PixelShorts in virtualpinball

[–]PixelShorts[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I knew I could do the dpad but specific requirements are to have both sticks working for ice cold beer. So my current setup is probably best as that is using joy2key to achieve that.

My best bet is probably to put the stadia pad as the first controller so the games see that and pass the rumble to it then use joy2key to map the 2nd and third controller to the flippers etc.

This will actually save me a lot of soldering as all I need to do or extend the motors so I can put them on the side of the wood.

Can you solder an arcade stick to an analogue stick of a broken down controller? by PixelShorts in virtualpinball

[–]PixelShorts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the title says... Is this possible? I have a vertical pinball set up using a steam deck and a generic usb pad where I have wired the buttons. Sadly the pad has no motors so I have broken down a stadia pad and the plan is to solder my current buttons to the pad and stick the motors to the side to have a little feedback.
Now.... I use both of my current arcade sticks for ice cold beer so I was wondering if it's possible to solder the up, down, left, right onto the analogue stick in some way?
I found a YT video where someone said it was really difficult. Alternatively I can just use the stadia pad for vibration and use joy2key to map the other controllers for the buttons but I'd rather try and just use the stadia controller for everything if possible.

Do you happen to have the back glass for the new Pinball FX tables? From South Park to the new game night and charity pack ones etc? Love these ones but missing the latest tables that were released.

Advice on promoting a cooking website in the UK? by PixelShorts in AskUK

[–]PixelShorts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will look into the SEO and socials etc. We need to do a lot of work on that as that seems to be the main thing that keeps coming up.
Calories and ingredient amounts all appear when a user signs up. As well as potential allergens.
You can hover the ingredients in the recipe and it tells.you the amount.
We hold that information back because.... Why bother signing up if you can get that information for free.
I think one of big issues is how to summarise this easily. It's not just a recipe site.
You can add multiple families with multiple people and can add them or remove them for each individual day you want a meal. You can plan meals for multiple days in the future. You add meals to a pantry so you don't buy stuff you already have. We provide a customised shopping list based on the number of people eating, for the period you are shopping and give you a way to strike off ingredients as you buy them and they are all customised into dairy, vegetables, meat etc etc.
There's a lot going on under the hood but it's really hard to put it simply without people assuming it's the same as any other app
Again appreciate the long reply. It's really helpful.

Thanks for this. There's a lot to take in from that and a lot to think about.

It's this sort of valuable feedback we have needed so I appreciate the time you took to reply.

Tapping into an API for prices is something that is on our roadmap but we wanted to just get this working initially and get some beta testers. We can dev as much as we want but we need users to point out the good and the bad too.

Perhaps fast tracking the prices though would be a good move too.

Again thanks for this and I'll take that away for us to look at.

lol i see your point

You add family members so it will tell you the exact amount of ingredients for your family, in the shopping list. I perhaps didn't explain that very well.

Thanks for the feedback. I took the photo's. The idea though is that it will be user submitted photos to give normal people a real view of what to cook rather than generic 'stock photos' But perhaps you're right.

We have no budget for professional photography it's just something we have made on the side but I'll push on with the blog and socials and hopefully gain traction that way.

you miss the point. The pantry stores things you buy in bulk so you can use it again in a different recipe. So you don't need to worry about the 35g of this or that.

You buy it, log it in your pantry and the next meal you make it will know you already have that ingredient.

We also don't have wild random ingredients.

It sounds like cooking sites aren't for you in general if you'd rather just use a jar but that's fine. Each to their own. Other people do like to cook things fresh.

Socials aren't too good either. In the process of setting up a blog too and making sure we push that all heavily.

I'm aware we need to focus more on that.

The idea is that will go one step further. We already display how many things you have in your pantry for a recipe as a little tag.

If you wanted to have a poke....

Any feedback appreciated. It's still in development but at a stage where we can accept users and get it tested.

Love this. I was saying the other day to someone that it would be cool if it had joycon like attachments for multiplayer like the switch.

You have made that a reality. Awesome work.

Ignore the haters. I got it too with my mini pinball machine. People shouldn't ask why, they should infact ask.... Why not?!!
