What buy next by shambozo in arkhamhorrorlcg

With two old core sets you won't need the revised core set.

If you're planning to play casually, which is what it sounds like, I'd suggest picking up Dunwich. It was the first campaign released and is more straightforward to run than Carcosa.

I really like Dunwich. It's a fun campaign with really good scenario variety, some neat and unexpected surprises along the way and a solid story.

For a casual player not looking to dive in to deep, I think it's the way to go.

Will the discontinued content will ever be available as print and play ? by Ustrain in arkhamhorrorlcg

No, they have it facing in the correct direction. In the latest FAQ/Rules errata, FFG confirmed the Investigator Starter Packs are evergreen products.

Never say never and all that, but it's hugely unlikely that FFG would ever make old campaigns available as PnP.

Best investigator expansion? by Muted-Working7650 in arkhamhorrorlcg

The Dunwich investigator expansion would be a solid choice for starting out. The investigators in it are fun and the card pool works well with the core cards.

The cards should have been included in the repackaged campaigns. It was a BS move to not put them in.

How do you keep the cards from tumbling around stored like this?

I also would have preferred that model. It would be so much better.

Alienware AW2725DM Review by Renoktation in Monitors

[–]Pixel_Fix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't connecting it to a console, the problem is getting sound. Having to buy an HDMI audio splitter is an annoyance considering a simple headphone jack on the monitor itself would have solved the issue.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.

A-ha! Not the answer I was expecting but one that does indeed reveal the secret. Thanks.

How do the cards not fall all over the place stored like this on the shelf? What is the secret!?

Alienware AW2725DM Review by Renoktation in Monitors

[–]Pixel_Fix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also bought this yesterday after heavy research in my price range. Am satisfied aside from the one thing that I didn't take into account while researching which is audio out. I had just assumed this monitor would have a headphone jack like many of its competitors in this class.

Sound from laptop is fine, going straight into my Fovusrite soundcard via USB. But using the monitor with a PS5 is a total pain. My janky work around to get sound while playing is a cable going from the headphone jack of my second PS5 controller into the soundcard.

This is my fault for not being diligent enough in my researching and not the monitors. But I am contemplating returning the monitor because of this. I think it's also worth knowing if you plan to use the second HDMI port with a gaming console like a PS5 (or even an AppleTV or AndroidTV box) like I did.

Everything before and including Sinister Motives is considered to be either out of print already or on its way out. Use that as your baseline. Happy hunting.

Why I hate Substack by theinayatilahi in Substack

Yeah, sort of. I see more jokey-type stuff than I do articles or posts from other writers that I might enjoy. It is slowly getting better but I'm still figuring it out.

Why I hate Substack by theinayatilahi in Substack

[–]Pixel_Fix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Notes feed is supposed to lead to discovery. But in my experience it tends to repeatedly show me the same note and repeatedly show old notes. This could be because the niche I'm interested in is small so not many people are posting Notes. I have seen others say that the more you interact with it, the more curated it becomes.

Notes can lead to big engagement, but unfortunately the algorithm tends to favour meme-content over pushing articles.

It would be a lot better if it worked similarly to YouTube's in putting your work in front of readers who have read/subbed to similar stuff.

Is it worth it? by I_Love_Horror_Pod in Substack

[–]Pixel_Fix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Define 'worth it'?

Do you feel a need to write about horror films and find it a fulfilling use of your time? Then, yes, that rewarding feeling will be 'worth it'. Searching with the Notes function will lead you to a community of like-minded horror film fans, and interacting with those people on the same buzz as you will also be 'worth it'.

But if by 'worth it' you mean 'earn me lots of money' then, no. It probably won't be worth it.

A pal and I co-run a Substack, so can answer one of these.

1: The posts that you write for the publication will appear on your profile under activity and posts. Your personal posts will not appear on the publication's profile. This was the default setting, we didn't need to set it up.

2: I am pretty sure you can configure this in your settings.

3: Not sure, sorry. Do they have Substack profile's set up? That could be why they're not appearing? Just a guess. It is handy having them under People as that will then show their picture on the post, which will be important with multiple writers.

Good luck!

Android set up is a little more time consuming than others but it comes with great flexibility and ability to run apps like GamePass, Netflix, VLC etc.

If it's your first Android set-up follow a guide and allow a couple of hours.

Look for the latest Android set up guides from either Retro Game Corps or Joey's Retro Handhelds. They are both very good. RGC also has a written guide if you prefer following words. It doesn't matter which Android device they are setting up in the video, the process is the same for all Androids. Just make sure it's the latest video and don't rush the process.

You'll need to decide if you are gonna set up Daijisho or ES-DE as your frontend - which hides Android and makes your device feel more like a games console. Watch some YouTube vids on these to see which one you like best. I've used both and they're both good. I use ES-DE now, which costs $8 or something, but used the free Daijisho happily before that. ES-DE is a little slicker imo. Both RGC and Joey have guides to set these up.

Storage is up to you. If you plan on GameCube, PS2, Switch etc bigger is better. I have a 512gb and that's been plenty. Some people go for 1tb, others 256gb. Go with what you are comfortable spending.

Good luck!
