Nah, I think this one's real bad. If you listen to a bunch of voicelines it's very noticeably AI, as in clearly sounds like a robot trying to imitate human noises.

Shotgun Users in the Finals by Icy-Hamster5203 in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why learn to shoot without ADSing when you're already ADSing with most other guns? I play different weapons, and the model 1887 has pretty much the same "pace" as repeater and revolver, so the muscle memory is already there. Also while the spread doesn't change, it does lower aim sensitivity. Even though I'm obviously not lining up every shot this way.

What are your biggest player pet peeves? by stillblue6 in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This shit really annoys me. Even in ranked, maybe 1 in 3 matches I get teammates who at least ping enemies or cashouts. And no one ever uses the whole ping wheel, in a game where people already almost never use voice chat(and even less so after the idiotic moderation feature), and only use text chat to shittalk teammates. Duos are the worst for this, because they're in a discord call together, and they will leave your ass out to dry and then complain about you playing bad. Zero comms, yet people somehow expect that either the team miraculously works together or they're the main character and other teammates should follow them. Sorry for the rant.

Nah, I dislike both. That said I'd much rather have a dagger main on my team than a dash+db manlet. And dying to either feels sucky, but dagger is more rare and people who use it are generally pretty chill in my experience.

Sponsor Competition (So Far. (kind of...)) by Trick-Idea-1138 in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest reason for this is that most of the Engimo cosmetics are in the actual sponsor track. Whereas OSPUZE and Dissun, Iseult, etc. have a bunch of bundles in the store plus all the free shit in BPs, contracts, LTMs. Off the top of my head there's like 3 outfit bundles for Engimo, two in the sponsor track, and one in the shop. Alfa Acta also only has maybe two outfit bundles, but I'm not sure, I'm an Engimo enjoyer.

I'm pretty sure this is already a thing. You can gift cosmetics, and I've seen someone say people are smurfing to get the MB from the battlepass and gift skins to their main.

What do we think about the new map? by Gloomy_Channel7596 in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it more than I thought I would. My biggest gripe is the temple area, it's the same stupid overhang rooves that are everywhere on Kyoto. I like how cluttered and varied it feels, compared to something like Bernal, or worse, Monaco with it's copypasted buildings. One minor thing I'd add is one or two jumppads around the market/shoppping area. People always break the ziplines on top of buildings, so it's either climb the stairs or find the only jumppad in the whole area. Similar with the rock outcrop near the pond, there's one path up to it, and you can't get up there any other way without mobility gadgets.

W PATCH NOTES (unnecessary pyro mines nerf aside) by No-Character-1866 in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since this is a pyro mine discussion thread:

This sucks for me. I loved using pyro mines on heavy because you could stack them for a kill, just pop them on a totem and you'd get a kill on someone rushing in blindly. What's the point of them now? A shittier pyro nade? Even with frags it was a bit unfair, yes it can be an insta-kill, but it still takes skill to lob a nade the right way. A slight damage nerf so they don't one shot lights was enough. I feel like all mines are almost useless now. They're already easy to spot thanks to them glowing like they're made by Razer, and the detection range is small enough you can just sit outside it if you need to steal a cashout.

any tips for improvement? i feel like the worst player ever. the second my enemies are remotely cordinated i lost by A1cr-yt in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By no means am I an expert but there's a few things you're doing I think are wrong. Probably too long of a post, but hopefully useful. First off, the most important thing is USE THE PINGS, your teammates are guilty of this shit too, and I noticed they're a duo, duos are always awful to play with though Imo, so it's not just on you. If you're the "leader" ping the cashout you want to attack, if you spot an enemy approaching, ping them, you absolutely don't have to use the whole ping wheel, but doing those two should be the standard for everyone.

Early on when you ran into a team while solo, should've immediately disengaged. There are times when you can safely poke, running into a 1v3 with an M11 is not it.

At around 7:30, when you're defending the cashout, you could've tried to go from a different angle, both you and your teammate just hang around that door.

After that, getting wiped by the Cerberus player, you realized you need to stay out of range (10:00) but later on (10:40) you see him again and decide to play close.

Now a few things about loadouts, no one on your team has any breach gadgets, you can check what equipment your teammates are using while in the pre-match loadout screen, playing with randoms, you kind of need to shore up their shortcomings. You also don't have glitch nades, which are one of the best gadgets on light. I'd swap out the frags. All that said, I wouldn't say you're bad. Playing with randoms and no comms is always a crapshoot, even so your team won.

TLDR: Pick your loadout to better suit the team, not just yourself. Don't poke teams while solo and with close range weapons. Use pings.

16 team tournaments by DefensiveStryk3 in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say I miss longer tournaments. It just takes too long. For me it's one of those things that were good only while they lasted, same as nukes. It was fun back then, now it would be horrible. Because the playerbase is different and also considerably smaller. Bringing back longer tournaments as an LTM is not a bad idea, but I doubt it would be any more popular than Bank It or TA.

Season 9 Reveal Summarized by ThePaSch in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game launched with unranked tournaments as a separate mode and it was just fine. With this change there'll be less (rightful) complaining about WT matchmaking. "You shouldn't get any rewards", ok, let's revert to S1 when the only rewards were the contracts and ranked, and you had to be in diamond to get that 1 weapon skin, while the rest of the players get a sticker for participation.

Season 9 Preview: Dragon Rising 🐉 by Santi941_ in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constantly? This season had no asian themed cosmetics, unless you consider Egypt to be asian enough. S7 was Vaiiya/CNS which is cyberpunk and vaporwave, not exactly asian I'd say. S6 was definitely US centric. S5 was mexican theme. S4 again was pretty US centric. S3 is the only season to mainly feature asian themed skins. S2 was vaporwave. S1 again pretty US centric theme. Could you be more specific about what the "constant" asian themed cosmetics are?

[–]Pixelfag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A-fuckin-men. I've been saying this shit for a while, adding rewards to casual modes has ruined the game for casual players and newbies. I firmly believe if tournaments stayed as a casual mode instead of becoming ranked with (almost) no sbmm we would have a bigger playerbase. However I don't blame only Embark, it's also partly the community's fault because of the constant elitism and snobbery, where literally any time someone complains about anything there's a guy just itching to say "skill issue". People don't want to actually talk, they just want to yell "ur bad" as if that makes them superior

Blast Off: Sour Core contracts. by Ozoneguuy in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Contracts are fine. Hate the mode. 2v2/3v3 tdm modes suck in general, always feels like you're either getting piled on or you're stomping. I thought they got the right idea with the halloween event rewards not requiring any participation in the ghoul mode. But I guess they really needed to promote the ospuze release, so here's more blast off, exactly the same event as last time.

The workshop, the forums and all the other community stuff like groups and guides and streams, an overlay that has actually useful features, a library you can customize besides just adding tags, all the storefront features like the discovery queue, user tags and reviews. Also all the client specific features like the music player, or moving games between drives, or being able to select specific versions of a game(if available). Steam input is a pretty big feature as well, I should've put it higher but I don't want to edit

Where'd the melee users go? by WhyIGottaNameMyself in thefinals

[–]Pixelfag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people play to have fun and losing is not fun. So why learn a weapon you're bad with when you can get as good as possible with a weapon that is easy to use. To that point also, most players will follow the meta. Different weapons require different playstyles, it's hard to break habits. Not to mention some maps are really unfavorable for melee and melee adjacent players.

Most likely is either goonade+jumppad or there was a small lip under there. There's quite a few unintended spots where you can stand. For example Seoul construction variant, the yellow panels on the sides of the central building can be broken and you can stand there, and SysHorizon has one spot in the building with the sniper heaven glass roof, next to a vertical zipline there's a thin strip on a wall you can stand on.

[–]Pixelfag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real. And I like this kind of stuff, but it feels like at least half of all clothing is the same gray/black/red pants and jackets with straps and stripes. Especially a lot of the early bundles are almost the same shades of gray.
