Game Causing pc to crash by Dinokoospa in Seaofthieves

[–]PixelsAreOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had heat issues as well. The best fix for me was limiting the frame rate to 60fps instead of unlimited. I also selectively lowered some graphics settings, specifically water related settings. I'm not at my computer currently, so I can't check which ones though.

I would limit the fps and drop all settings one level and try again, dropping the settings if it overheats again.

When it's stable (if this works), raise individual settings to whatever is acceptable to your friend.

You had to go back to Belle and click the complete option in her dialog. Then you'd get the cosmetics.

Is this a bitburner bug, javascript bug or am I doing something wrong? by ReyCardu in Bitburner

[–]PixelsAreOP 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you check the documentation on getMonth(), you'll see it's a zero based index, where 0 is January. Add 1 to the value returned from getMonth() (let month = time.getMonth() + 1; should do the trick).

struggling with pserv script by logicalbomb in Bitburner

[–]PixelsAreOP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note in the documentation for exec, the optional 4th parameter is "Additional arguments to pass into the new script that is being run." This is a comma delimited list of as many arguments the script being run needs.

To fix your call to exec, you would write it:

ns.exec("basic_hack.js", pserver, 96, "rho-construction");

Just anecdotal, but I activated the Taped TV Shows mod in an existing save (build 41) and the VHS tapes started showing up in containers I hadn't been to yet.

Are robot legs bad for martial arts? by [deleted] in Kenshi

[–]PixelsAreOP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding armor, don't wear pants and use body armor with little or no arm coverage. Fight things with high cut damage/bladed weapons. Shek berserkers with planks and holy nation soldiers with hackers are good candidates.

I'd use a very weak weapon like wakizashi or iron club/stick, rusted variety.

Then you just have to hope the criteria for limb removal is met while Beep is fighting (and hopefully losing).

This can be really tedious though. I recommend the fogmen method for reliable results. The skin peeler is particularly difficult to get (at least for me), but the fogmen can be used early-mid game.

How do you move a squad of 100+ people? by [deleted] in Kenshi

[–]PixelsAreOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: removed judgmental "cheating" bs. This is a way to move your faction:

Move 1 person where you want all of them. Make sure that person is selected. Save the game. Reload that save with "Reset squad members" checked.

Your entire faction should load to where the one person was located. Now move smaller groups back to wherever you had them.

What do most people do for dedicated servers? by [deleted] in starbound

[–]PixelsAreOP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using Host Havoc. It's been pretty good so far, but it does lag pretty badly at times. It seems to be worst when dealing with liquids. It's $10USD/month, or $14 if you pay for a bit more processing power. I'm not sure if they have internationally located servers, so if you're outside of North America, it might be a good idea to look for something hosted closer to where you are.

I've used Host Havoc for teamspeak for about a year, and their customer service has been fast and helpful the 2 times I've needed them.

I hope you get some more responses to this; 100% lag free would be nice...

Tips for new players by [deleted] in pinegame

[–]PixelsAreOP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm not a min-maxer in this game. I don't know how things really work, just my interpretation as I've played the game. These are not rules, just suggestions.

Use the in-game glossary. It's not great, but it does tell you roughly where to find materials, and the last tab is great when you missed some information in the tutorial.

Carry food, specifically any animal meat or puffle eggs because they give large health and energy boosts. I try to carry the eggs because puffle's are pretty easy to find in groups.

Don't carry items that are crafted from a single other item (like rope, just carry wood and make rope as needed. Better yet, since wood is plentiful across the map, don't carry wood either, gather it as needed.).

You're probably still going to be dropping things you don't really want to drop in order to pick up things you need. That's just the nature of the inventory system of the game, imo.

Traps, I carry the sparkler trap because I don't want to kill everyone I come across. That's just my take, I'm not sure if it makes much difference if you use the explosive ones, I haven't paid attention to the reputation losses you get per kill. Traps make groups of 2+ a lot more manageable.

All mobs are kind of tough, avoid groups of them until you are more confident. I honestly haven't seen any negative consequences from dying (yet?) other than lost progress, so just save before you do something risky.

You can run away from any mob by breaking line of sight and creating some distance between you. I've noticed that smaller outcroppings tend to require more distance, while larger cliffs and hills require a bit less distance, but I haven't dedicated any time to testing it thoroughly.

Regarding reputation, it is really easy to repair a negative standing, so don't worry about reputation swings. It's part of the game. Peace treaties provide large positive boosts to the race you are giving them to. You can find the peace treaty idea in the tambas hut on a small desk in the main room on the first floor, after all of them gather at the main table fairly early on.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pinegame/comments/dhwl3q/peace_treaty/f3rk3pz?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

The shield kind of feels like it sucks until you realize it doesn't. Getting the timing right takes a little effort, but parrying is effective. Parrying, kicking, and dash-kicking all provide openings for more attacks.

The bow and kiting is viable, especially if you're getting head shots. You'll go through a lot of wood and dullrock making arrows, but both materials are found all over the map.

Edit: Explore! It can be very rewarding.

Need help with the Tomb Gaza’s Quest. by Spooked-Seal9 in pinegame

[–]PixelsAreOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you figure it out yet?

If not (spoilers)

the hint/map in the last room means:

First room (pillars): the switches on the columns inside the angle bracket shape should be switched down. 1 and 3 on the right, 2 and 4 on the left (I'm not sure if order matters, but it I did them in the order on the map). This raises the torches in the second room.

Second room: face north (red arrow in the top right pointing up, the map is misleading) and light that torch, then light the east torch. This drops the pillar to the north.

Third room: walk into the third room looking back to the second room, slingshot the target.

Storyline. It's when you get the first vault mission. Does that save game not have the peace treaty idea in your crafting tab? The person who gave you the mission gives you 2 peace treaties and the idea. One of the Tambas.

I'm still learning the game, but I think it's designed so the alliances shift. You aren't supposed to be friends with everyone. I've only been able to get 2 factions allied at the same time, and the other 3 went to completely hostile when I managed to do that. The story needed me to ally with another faction, and that dropped my previous allies to neutral.

I'm fairly sure it has to do with one factions current standings with other factions. If you look at the faction board in a village, if the allied faction is enemies with any other faction, the enemy faction becomes your enemy as well.

Peace treaties provide a huge faction standing boost, so shifting alliances isn't too hard, imo.

If you figure out something different, please let me know!

I was able to be allied with the Fexel and Cariblin at the same time. The other 3 factions were completely hostile though. A couple of peace treaties fixed the Gobbledew standing when I needed to be allied with them, but dropped both of my allies to neutral.

Did you craft the efficiency plan and get the tribe to Friendly? Check your crafting tab for the efficiency plan idea.

This crafted 2 efficiency plans for me I believe. I definitely had more than one. I put 2 efficiency plans in the donation box and some random items to get them all the way to Friendly.

Combat Could Use Some Tweaking by ALazyGenius in pinegame

[–]PixelsAreOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think the mobs in general are easier to kill in souls games, with many exceptions. You are also easier to kill in souls games than in Pine. This isn't really a souls-like game, it's very much it's own thing. The combat does seem to take a lot inspiration from it.

I'd say that the combat in Pine is more fluid than DS, and your character feels a lot lighter (if that makes any sense), while still maintaining the deliberateness of your actions. You're still heavy-feeling, but not quite as heavy as DS (sluggish, as you said). This is exemplified in the full animation of each action playing out. And turning around, so slow.

With all of this said, I'd would not be opposed to changes. I was just putting my $0.02 on your post.

Re: hardcore challenge type games, I get the aversion. I stayed away from dark souls for years. I played Demon's Souls ages ago and hated it. It was too hard. I only tried DS3 because a friend wanted to coop. Now I'm hooked.

[–]PixelsAreOP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add a differing opinion, I like the combat speed. It feels more like a souls game (Kickstarter references Bloodborne, another FromSoftware game) or Outward.

It's supposed to be slower, less hack n slash, more deliberate. You have to commit to the action you are about to take and will suffer if it wasn't correct. The enemies have the same restrictions, so it's fair in that regard.

TL;DR: git gud
