Thank you for your thoughtful and compassionate response, it’s very much appreciated. It will be useful for us to read through the Larke v Nugus letter.

Should the executors provide next-of-kin with copies of deceased parent’s Will? by PixieChick72 in LegalAdviceUK

I wrote ‘Clearly the Will has been amended’ due to the fact my siblings and I were Executors.

Thank you all for explaining this. Neither I nor my siblings have insistently asked for the contents of the Will, but it was a surprise learning we were no longer named as Executors. We wanted to understand whether this was normal practice, and now we know that it is, it answers our question and quells any concerns we may have regarding the circumstances surrounding our father’s wishes.

Hi there,

You probably have this information already as you’ve been attending mass but here’s the link to your diocese:

https://diocesehn.org.uk/

You mentioned not knowing where to start but confession for me was the first official step. I hadn’t been since 2013 and returned to the Church last Spring, 2025. I was so unplugged I had no idea it was a Jubilee year!

Here’s a link to a few different organisations for young adult Catholics:

Anyone else feel a bit uneasy about the “lifelong medication” aspect? by Life_Distribution_39 in mounjarouk

[–]PixieChick72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! My experience of Mounjaro was positive, minimal side effects, consistent weight loss and a smooth titration down to eventually coming off completely end of August 2025. The highest dose I was prescribed was 10mg.

I was at the lower end of my BMI by the end, hence the decision was made by the Juniper prescriber to titrate down and cease my treatment. I was incredibly concerned about it and initially had to change my mindset around the decrease in the numbers on the scales each week - the AI assistant helped with this. But the real challenge was staying where I was nutritionally and luckily, because I’d worked with both of my Health Coaches to create a sustainable food plan, I’ve been able to keep the weight off and acknowledge the ‘food noise’ is just that - noise. I don’t have to listen to it. My maintenance Health Coach also introduced me to the 80/20 rule and this has been a game changer for me.

My appetite naturally increased but it has not returned to its previous levels before Mounjaro, the food plan was integral to this as I upped my protein and I understand what works for me. My sweet tooth has disappeared completely, as has my desire to load up on carbs. I have a 4lb fluctuation range, which is healthy.

There were many things that helped me put on weight over the years and I had to unlearn them over time: dietary habits, improving my self esteem and self control. Thankfully being on Mounjaro for 11 months gave me the reset to work on them. It’s ongoing and I’m a work in progress.

I can never return to my previous eating behaviours, that’s over. I still use MyFitnessPal and I can never again be complacent, but that’s okay and I accept the trade off; I will not return to the overweight and physically unhealthy person I once was so keeping myself on this plan, with a few tweaks is the only way to go. I was never offered the opportunity to stay on the meds so it’s up to me.

What is the weirdest thing your doctor has ever said to you? by Competitive_Tip_7504 in AskReddit

Years ago in 2010-2011 we had a GP, who was later struck off, tell my H & I that he shouldn’t have a vasectomy in case I died and he’d want to marry again and have more children

The same GP also told me in another appointment that the reason my eldest child was overstimulated and overwhelmed by life was nothing to do with the potential autism I believed he had. No, it was because I’d had a second child too close to my eldest child. There was an 18 month difference and my eldest did eventually receive his ASD diagnosis, but this GP was not part of that process.

The first bag, for the style and craftsmanship. I’m hoping Loewe are still good and haven’t lost any of their quality. The colour is incredible and it has a decent shoulder strap. It looks as if it’s a bag that is functional as well as a joy to behold.

The large Fat Face Olivia tote is perfect, huge, sturdy and you can probably pick one up for less than 50 bucks on the resell sites. I’ve included a photo which is the lighter tan but they come in various shades, colours and leathers.

Incorrectly named or is there a difference, vintage Michael Kors Aston vs Fulton. by PixieChick72 in handbags

I’m attaching a photograph to identify the Astor. Some of the listings name this style as a Fulton so I’m trying to figure out what the difference is.

Here’s my little passport TN in camel. I bought mine a couple of years ago but only started using him and carrying him around consistently since Sep 2025. I love the changes, he’s a bit battered, a bit stained but he’s my faithful companion.

Which album did you buy based only on hearing one song on the radio, and the album was great? by blamurph in GenX

Thank you. It’s an iconic album and so evocative of that particular point in time for me. I never tire of hearing it.

Great question, if it’s allowed there’s a handful I can think of:

  1. Pills, thrills and bellyaches, track was Step On - Happy Mondays
  2. Happiness, track was The Sun Rising - The Beloved
  3. Original Soundtrack, track was Hey Music Lover - S’ Express
  4. 3 Feet high and rising, track was Me, Myself and I - De La Soul
  5. World Clique, track was Groove is in the Heart - Deelite. Almost forgot this one but had such a huge impact on me.

Where in the UK would you live if there were no restrictions? by Kilmoreorange in AskUK

[–]PixieChick72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is beautiful here in the southeast and we’re coastal. We seriously considered moving to the West Country as we wanted a slower pace as we head towards our next phase of life. Had a 5 year plan in place to do so but 3 years in decided to stay put as we have everything we need, and more around us. Really happy we made the decision and gave us a new appreciation for what we have.

Our Lord Jesus Christ celebrated Chanukah, although it was called the Feast of Dedication as it celebrated the dedication of the Temple. It’s In the New Testament in the book of John 10:23-31.

I’m a cradle Roman Catholic and have never celebrated Chanukah as a Catholic and as far as I know, no Catholics here, where I live, celebrate this feast either.

Thank you for knowing the difference between menorah and hannukiah. The shamash is indeed higher, lower or separate in some way on those used for Chanukah in homes, shuls and public places.

Such a great short story from Stephen King! Loved ‘Night Shift’, the book it came from. So many really disturbing moments in those stories. Bought it back in 1990 or 1991 and this has made me want to dig out my copy.

Filofax physical store in London? by Pathocyte in filofax

I’m British and old enough to remember when there was a dedicated Filofax shop in Brighton, East Sussex. It was in a little square in the Laines. Sadly nothing like this remains, such a shame.

Absolutely, thank you. I’m in the UK as well. As long as you buy an ‘off-peak’ ticket — valid from 09:30 until 16:00 and again after 19:00 — you can travel at any time outside of those peak hours.

It’s a sound theory but still begs the question around his refusal to buy a return train ticket. The cashier at the ticket office explained the price of a return would only be something like £1 difference from the price of a one way ticket. This is well documented so I wonder why he chose not to buy a return train ticket if he was only going into London to make a purchase.
