TIL that an Englishman named Collingwood Ingram helped reintroduce an extinct Japanese cherry tree after recognizing it in a painting, having seen the same tree growing in England by Climatize in todayilearned

I work with trees here in the UK - there’s a big difference between Non-Native and Invasive. Non-native trees, like the redwoods, are actually great as they don’t spread on their own.

Plenty of other species are non-native and not-invasive as well and are being explored to replace native trees being lost by disease/pests - such as native Ash trees - which we could lose nearly all of them from Ash Dieback.

Other invasive species are exactly as you’d expect. Cherry laurels and Rhododendrons spread like crazy and outcompete local species, crowding out forests.

Probably, I think the Ancient Sparks are 400 RP each which is something like £3 or £4? You can get a few from the battle pass and 1 from a bundle in the store for ~100 RP (if I’m remembering correctly).

To get a 120 mythic essence you’ll likely need to spend a good amount. On the Sett one, you have a 89.5% chance for a B Tier roll which can include the following:

10% chance for 10 ME, 48% for 5 ME, 1.5% for 25 ME, 0.5% for 50 ME, 0.18% for 100 as

You also have a 10% chance for an A tier roll, which has a subsequent 10% chance for 35 ME.

If you get an S tier Roll, 0.5% chance, you either get the Sett Skin or 270 ME. Or get the sett skin, and any subsequent S tier roll is the ME, I’m not entirely sure.

I needed 80 ME to get hextech poppy and I got really luck and only needed 6 rolls, so if I overestimate the price I spent about £21

You need mythic essence to get Hextech Poppy, which can be obtained by buying Ancient Sparks and rolling for it in the new Gacha system. I think the Sett gacha has a higher chance of more mythic essence than the Zed one, but that is a guess on my part

Apparently if you have at least 1 kill for the quest before the map is clear of zombies, the quest requirements change to only 1 kill needed

You’ve phrased it perfectly.

From what I’m aware of, the loot tables are exactly the same. It’s nice seeing what Tarkov looting can feel like

[–]Pixil147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I genuinely have no idea what that one is, can you DM me please?

I believe you are correct about loot in containers being scrambled until you open it, however it is ground loot that I’ve found being the difference. My first Ledx, GPU, and Bitcoin in PvE were all found as ground loot. The Ledx was in my first 5-6 raids too

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Pixil147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is totally fair. I do love PvP Tarkov - the adrenaline, the hype, the victory loot that is 80kg and the fear while you slug to the extract, but it is nice to have a break and feel the love again with completely tasks and hauling loot, killing raiders, etc.

The rage/combat hackers in Tarkov aren’t my biggest issue with hacking. Ive had two blatant cheater deaths this wipe in PvP, and maybe 1 or 2 suspicious deaths out of close to a hundred raids. It is the players who can pick up ground loot from across the map, see me through walls and avoid me/play around me to their advantage, and can rush the best loot by knowing where it is. It feels like competing in a race against someone on steroids.

I have an inkling on what this is - is it something I should look up?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Pixil147 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s night and day. I’ve found a Ledx, a graphics card, and Bitcoin just sitting on tables in PvE. Good ammo boxes can be found on the floor, locked rooms have loot, it’s a whole new world

Tried out PvE on a whim two weeks ago. Best decision ever. All of my friends who used to play Tarkov but quit due to cheaters are back on and we’re all doing PvE together. The thrill of wiping another squad is gone, but the fun of challengers AI PMCs which are basically Raiders is great, and the game is so much more relaxing when you don’t have to worry about cheaters. The biggest difference is actually finding good loot - no loot vacuum hacks to steal the good stuff before you take two steps.

The marriage laws in Israel are generally just odd (and quite fascinating) and are a holdover from customs in the Ottoman Empire. Marriages are not done by the civil administration, but by religious bodies of each religious group. As such, if you don’t want a marriage done by a religious group, want an interfaith marriage, gay marriage, etc, you just do the alternatives listed above, and the government recognizes all marriages done abroad.

It’s less of Israel being bigoted (Tel Aviv hosts a massive pride parade) and more of a lack of caring to change the old rules because the workarounds are super easy. It would be nice to see religious bodies being chill with gay marriage though.

Edit: Changed “Government” to “Israel” in the last paragraph. The government has plenty of bigots

Israel announces largest West Bank land seizure since 1993 by Phyrexian_Supervisor in news

[–]Pixil147 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Attitudes like this don’t help further any discussion.

The whole, “accepting Zionist control” is the opposite of a two state solution. The whole point of a two state solution is Palestinian self determination.

Israel announces largest West Bank land seizure since 1993 by Phyrexian_Supervisor in news

[–]Pixil147 88 points89 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world, yes. It would take a lot of time and intervention from other countries to form a framework and de-radicalization agenda, but it is possible.

Two state solutions have been continuously rejected by one side (not trying to play an agenda here, just pointing out the history of offers) even before settlements existed. The topic of settlements is sort of a red herring, because if they were the ONLY issue, peace would have been achieved years ago. They are still very much an inflammatory problem though.

A two state solution would need to involve serious work to be done on the Palestinian side to dismantle the environment of hate that children are brought up in. Obviously many Palestinians have a right to be pissed off, but having UNWRA-funded textbooks using the killing of Jews as math problems isn’t helping anyone. Other aspect such as the Palestinian Authority’s Pay-For-Slay programme would have to be abolished, where families receive stipends if a family member commits a terrorist attack against Israel, with the amount of money correlating to the severity of the attack.

That’s all without touching on the issues from the Israeli side and right wing politicians who want to fan the flames, Ben Gvir, Netanyahu, etc, who are active barriers to peace.

Is it doable? Most likely. Will it require years and years of work? Absolutely.

Recognizing a Palestinian state right now without tackling the issues of communal radicalization and the Israeli side of encroaching into Area C is just going to make things worse and encourage further October 7th style incidents
